pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust: Everyone stay safe!

I'm still at work....I tell ya I swear I live here sometimes....I still have 45 minutes before I go home.

Glad you ok so far....I think most of us are going to be affected one way or another, we are supposed to be getting some high winds also starting tonite.

Stay safe too!

ABC News said tonight that the Fantasy was really rocking in the storm. The pictures they showed depicted a big mess on board with water out of the pool and stuff scattered around--Angie

I know, I saw the same clip on cruise critic. Kinda scary...But at least everyone seemed to be safe. Will see what happens here. The waves out of Lake Michigan are pretty big...they are closing area's around there. The winds are going up to 50mph sometime tonite...just heard starting at 1am...

So I guess most of us are getting hit with this storm...

Hope everyone in the firing line's doing okay. We've had lots of coverage on tv here. If anyone cares to get a map of Australia the size of the hurricane if it were here would stretch from the Sunshine Coast, north of Brisbane in Queensland, to Wilsons Promontory which is South East of Melbourne in Victoria.

Cyclone Yasi, that we had here last year where I live, was about half the size of Sandy but twice as powerful wind speed-wise, so that would give you some idea of the size in relation to Australia. Scary, huh! Fortunately we are nowhere near as heavily populated as those affected by Sandy.

The thought of all of the people in America who will be without power, combined with the coming cold front, is too horrible to think of. Are the homeless people looked after in situations like this?

Take care and prayers to all. I'm now hearing 13 are now confirmed dead which is so sad to hear.

We came through pretty much unscathed. It's still dark outside so can't check the trees on the hill out back, they sheltered us pretty well from the winds, though they were HOWLING last night. We went to bed. the winds are still blowing, but not as strongly. I've got another pressure headache which means the pressure is beginning to rise again, which is a good thing!

Hope everyone else did as well, it was a horrible storm and I've no doubt that Sandy will join Andrew, Hugo, Ike and Katrina on the list of memorable storms.:grouphug:

Just after 6 in the morning...so you are a good 14 hours ahead of us.

Hopefully daylight will reveal things aren't as bad as they seem. Yasi crossed at midnight and when I got up at sunrise I was in shock at all of the damage here, and we were a couple of hundred kilometres south of where it crossed. I got all teary watching the footage on tv today of the hurricane, too many memories of last year. Glad you are doing well though.

IT is horrific. My niece lives in NYC, Thank God she went to home to Buffalo for her Grandpa's birthday and got stranded there. I would be worried sick if she were in the city.

Still waiting for the sun to come up here. I've been through a few storms, but they were in the normal area where hurricanes hit. This, following the Derecho is just unbelievable for an area not used to this.

Atlantic City, Ocean City, all devastated. New Jersey, New York....

Did I get it did I????

You beat me to it. Now that you're all coming into a new day things will all start to show. Do they have lots of Red Cross around you set up? They do such wonderful things in situations like this. DH was part of the recovery and restoration crew here after the cyclone so I was lucky to have the help of neighbours in getting things cleaned up here, but it was nothing compared to what I'm seeing on tv for you guys.

It would appear we've escaped the worst of it. I'm in Virginia, and Sandy changed her course just enough to give us just a glancing blow. I have leaves stripped from the trees, but nothing major that I can see. Will go out and look over the roof and shutters once it gets a bit lighter, but don't see any debri. (our shutters have an annoying habit of coming off....one.at.a.time.

Hi everyone,

We seemed to have escaped unscathed. Some branches down and still have power. We were on the right side of the storm so we mostly got the high winds and the rain wasn't as bad as expected. Winds are till at 50 mph but don't seem as bad as yesterday.

Working from home again today since they are still clearing the roads. Figured why get in the way of repairs when I am fortunate to be able to WFH.

Stephanie, glad you and Dave are ok as well.

Morning...

Glad everyone is ok....and still has power.

We are good here, we did get some winds but I dont think what they were projecting. So we are good here. Lake Michigan is still bad as of this morning. I think that Indiana got most of the high winds that they were tell us we were going to get....from the newscast it seemed really bad there.

Hopefully the worst is over and we can get back to "normal"..

Stephanie: It sounds like Castaway got hit pretty bad...any news if your going there or not?

Have a great time on your trip enjoy and remember we want pictures and reports.....:thumbsup2
