I know the magic is going under a rigorous 5 week make over. Does anyone know what is going to be done to the ship during its dry dock?
Now, as to the original post--5 week? Are you sure? I've also heard 6 week, but then I haven't whipped out a calendar to count days. This is WAY more than cosmetic. There are 5 or 6 weeks empty between the last Med cruise and the date that she's due in Madeira and Gibraltar!
The Magic's vacation is scheduled for September 7(after dropping people off in Barcelona) to October 20 (when she will be in Miami) this is 43 nights of work and travel from Barcelona to Venice and Venice to Miami. My guess is that they will not have a WBTA so they can keep working and testing things on the journey to Miami. But 43 nights is a long time for a ship to be out of service. Can't wait to see what they do!
I am booked on the October 20 cruise, so I guess I will see first hand.
According to the Interior Designers of the Dream and Fantasy - they are also doing the Interior Design of the Magic Refit 2013 and Wonder Refit 2014.

[Unfortunately, no photos or concept designs shown.]
If Disney is going with the same interior designers than I definitely could see them using best practices from the larger ships and making them work for the Magic & Wonder.

*wave* Me too! I can't wait to find out what they will do.
I heard from a CM on our cruise last Jan that they were going to gut deck 9 and completely redo it. I don't know if this is true or not, but we'll see.
Have you been on the Magic before. I haven't so I won't have anything to compare it to. I really don't like cruises but my family out voted me. So, I am keeping my fingers crossed that we selected a decent cabin for our trip.
Do ya'll think there is any chance they will add a concierge lounge? Does anyone know when they announce what is being done?
Nope. I've only been on one cruise ever. It was a 3 nighter on the Big Red Boat for our honeymoon. I will always remember it. It was the year the Magic launched too. We were at the dock and we first saw our ship and thought it was so big. Then we saw the Magic next to it and were all at the size of it. Funny how times change. Now the Magic is a small ship.
Anyway, this has always been my dream vacation so I am super excited for it. We were originally going to go on the Fantasy, but this ended up being cheaper, even with concierge. Plus it goes to Castaway Cay twice and from all my reading, I am really excited to go there. I just wish it wasn't a year away!
I can't wait to find out what they will do in dry dock. Why don't you like cruises?
BTW, I am very worried about my daughter (she will be 19). She gets sick even on the ferry boat at MK.
I don't like hanging out on a boat. I rather stay on an island and explore it. Also, too many people in a confined space. The best cruise that I ever went on was a Windjammer and there were 126 people on the boat, including the crew.
We booked a 1 bedroom concierge cabin. So hopefully, that will give us plenty of room. I really don't like small rooms.
My dd who will be 10 when we go, get motion sick on car rides, so she will probably wear her seabands if she needs them.
