I plan to travel from Michigan light, and buy my food for the week when I get there, while hubby is setting up camp. It just occurred to me that we are arriving on Black Friday....am I crazy? I know what Black Friday and Walmart mean in any other location..... I wonder if this is a generally busy Walmart. I'm not sure I want to deal with that on my first day there after a 2 day ride in the car!

:faint:

Every Wal-Mart in USA will be PACKED.

I'd go to Publix.

Walmart will be busy, but you are going for food while everyone else will be cramming the place for door busters. Also remember that most of the door busters are over by 10am. You know groceries will be substantially cheaper there, I say stick with your plan and go to Walmart. (Though I may be biased...)

This.

After noon, it's not going to be overly crowded. I'd say it would be in the range of your typical weekend crowd. I've shopped at midnight on Black Friday at Walmart, and I've shopped 12 hours later at noon. The crowds are 100 times lighter.

Shopping for food at wal-mart near WDW is like Black Friday every day. It's awful, there are usually whole families meandering through the aisles, not sure where anything is, and generally it's a mess.

We love the Winn-Dixie, it's small enough and really close to the DTD exit, just make a left. I got a discount card in advance and checked the ads on the way down so I have a complete shopping list.

Last trip we used wegoshop.com. Wonderful experience, but you have to be flexible in what you get, like I asked for 2 packs of chicken breasts and got 2 3 pound packs. Too much! Next time, I'll give a weight limit. Otherwise, I got everything, in the right quantity and the right brand. I shopped the store ad so I picked out sale items, B1G1, that sort of thing. It was great and worth the extra money to have it delivered to my door, saved time and aggravation.

You can order food on line and have it shipped to Disney. That is what we are doing in Dec.

If you go to walmarts website you can have some groceries shipped to you. We are doing that in Dec. There are deliver services that will bring you groceries after you order them online.

Yep this is a super busy walmart to begin with. I suggest you wait as long as you can before you go. The later in the day the more back to normal it will be. The very few times i have done walmart on BF by the time you hit noon or 1pm the traffic was back to nearly normal. Go check in, play around a little and then make a run out just before dinner time. You will be just fine plus you will get a chance to see what the aftermath of a inside tornado would look like if they existed....

If you go west on 192 to north on 27 the first redlight is a Walmart. Not as busy and also a Lowes in case you need other items to do a repair. The traffic isn't to bad.

Last year, I thought I would make my first attempt at BF At Wally World. We went Thanksgiving night and there were miles of cars parked in snowbanks, in the roadways. Too crazy for us so we went home. Went back the next day at 11 AM, and did not encouter a line at all at the check out. Just go a bit later in the morning.
