Concierge/Club Level Information- Part IV, July 2012

Well, my impression so far is that the Poly CL is a step under BWI CL. Our room, on the first floor, has a nice patio area and a great view of the castle. The room seems a little dark and the bathroom needs a lighted make up mirror!!!

The CL lounge decoratively is light years behind the BWI which is my only CL frame of reference. There are no fresh flower arrangements or greenery of any kind and the furnishings are dull with age. We're going for snacks before heading over to the MNSSHP, so I have no opinion on the food offerings yet. The CM's so far have been pleasant--Barbie checked us in and but our room wasn't ready until 3:30. Not too awful of a delay and our bags were delivered promptly.

We did get a slight upgrade. I'd booked one MK view and 1 garden view and we have 2 MK view rooms.

We're here until Saturday--so I'll have more observations as the week proceeds.
I will say that the GK's (9,6 and 4) really like the resort and went for a ride on the monorail:confused3 while we waited for our rooms. Who knew?? We didnt have to buy tickets---the monorail could entertain them for hours:goodvibes

I'm sorry your stay hasn't started out too well as far as CL goes, but I hope you still have a magical trip and are able to enjoy the Poly. Congrats on the upgrade :).

Just e-mailed the TA & we've pulled the trigger. Changed from a regular room at the Contemporary to club/concierge (still not sure which is the 'right' term) level @ Animal Kingdom.

Got a PIN last week, and it makes the AK about $500 less. :confused3
Shocked we went from regular to club level room & dropped in price, but I'm booking it before they change their minds. :goodvibes

Going for my husband's birthday - we've never done this before, so I'm hoping it will make his birthday a little extra special.

Congrats on switching to AKL CL and coming out $500 ahead :thumbsup2. AKL is a great deluxe resort and is quite a bit cheaper than the other deluxes ;).

thank you, mickeynut1.

You're welcome :goodvibes.

I emailed AKL CL IPA yesterday, just thought I'd post this in case it helps someone else....For the Wednesday Wine & Cheese hr @ Jiko, you have to call them because they need to secure the reservation w/a credit card # and of course, its safer to call that in than email it to them.

And they can't book you for the new DVC Sundown Mingle, you have to call DVC.

Sorry for being off topic for this thread, but what is the Sundown Mingle? Haven't heard of that one.

We had first contact from the AKL IPO over the weekend, and it was a very detailed email/questionnaire. Much more detailed than any of our previous club stays.

We just got back from at 10 day stay at AKL CL! We were in room 4515 w/a great view of the savannah. It was our 2nd stay at AKL, but our 1st CL stay there. The food offerings were fine. We only got to try the evening appetizers one night. I liked that there was some variety each night for desserts. Wish there was more variety for breakfast though. We got bored of the same food w/a 10 day stay. The kids table w/snacks was a nice touch. The lounge would get crowded around 9 am, otherwise it was fairly open.
We did the sunrise safari which was really cool. We really enjoyed the safari & learned so much about the safari & the animals. The breakfast buffet was yummy too, the best scrambled eggs I have had & loved the cinnamon french toast sticks!
I also loved that CL CMs had checked us in for our flight thru SWA. I had forgotten to, but our boarding passes were at our door the morning our our departure.
We want to try Yacht Club for our next trip, but we will definitely stay AKL CL again.

I totally agree about breakfast! My husband and kids love breakfast food, so I always try to add a few breakfast ADRs so they can get eggs&bacon, pancakes, etc at least a couple of times to break up the monotony of the concierge offerings. You will love YC CL, they have a great group of CMs working there. :thumbsup2

Typically it's twice a week from 5:00-6:00 at the DVC desk in Jambo house. Hors d'oeuvres and drinks. :) When you get your welcome packet at check-in you'll see it on the monthly activities flyer. :thumbsup2

Hopefully by this time next year all the Poly renovations will be done. :thumbsup2 I agree it needs some updating. We had a terrible time with the outlets in our CL room last winter. I'm sure once completed it's going to be beautiful. :cloud9: Of course I know that doesn't really help you now, I hope you're having a great trip despite your disappointment.

Glad you had a great time and thanks for sharing about your stay :). We've stayed at AKL before (not CL), but it is on our list of CLs to try as I've read nothing but rave reviews about it. We are trying YC CL and Poly CL in July 2013, so I'm hoping AKL CL won't be too far behind ;).

Hello, I am looking for CL rooms in the Epcot area for Oct. 27 and 28. I am currently booked non Club at BC (I was thinking, who needs CL during F&W? But DH did not agree with me). Anyway, I looked at switching to CL but none are available at BC.

I am seeing availability at BWI, where we have stayed before, and YC, where we have not stayed.

Also this time we will be a party of 5 instead of the usual 3. I am concerned about the size of the lounge at YC, can anyone compare the two? We have seen busy times at BWI CL but the waits are not long. Sometimes we just bring food back to the room although we prefer to eat in the lounge. Does YC have more table capacity or less? We also prefer to take our time eating, and would feel uncomfortable if there's a table shortage and people are waiting for tables.

From the photos, it seems to me YC looks a bit plain compared to BWI. I do like that there's a children's TV area which BWI does not have.

Do they serve hard boiled eggs at YC like they do at BWI?

Does the YC lounge close at 10 like BWI or is it open 24 hours for drinks and tea/coffee?

Any more pointers for me?

Thanks!

Let me put your mind at ease! :) I have had the opportunity to experience all 3 of those CL and they are all great! You don't need to worry at all about the lounge or food offerings at the YC. They offer almost exactly the same foods you would find at the BC CL and the lounge itself is very large and spacious. I found it to be much larger and open than the BC CL lounge. :goodvibes Many more tables in my opinion. I believe my recent YC CL pictures are on page 1 or 2 of this thread. I have more if you'd like to check my YC CL trip reports:

If I can answer any questions please let me know! :thumbsup2

Silly question but.... are they offering donuts in the A.M in the lounge again?? When we were there last Sept they did not and hubby was dissapointed. :)

Sorry, but donuts were discontinued years ago, but they do have assorted pastries.

Just got back from our first CL stay at the POLY. We had a great time, and really enjoyed staying in the CL building. It really is the best location at the POLY, being next to the beach and the main pool. We have stayed at the POLY for several years, but this was the first time CL. It really was nice to have someone expecting us in the main building, and walking us over to the CL building. Our room request of the 3rd floor was granted, and our room was ready when we got there at 11 a.m. (first time ever for us at the POLY --- we have always had to wait until afternoon for our room to be ready). Next year, we will schedule more time at the resort to enjoy being next to the pool.

Does anyone have any questions I can answer?

Glad you had a wonderful stay in Poly CL!:goodvibes We will be checking in next Friday!:cheer2: Your description was the same as ours between regular Poly and Poly CL. We had stayed regular Poly a few times as well, but after our first stay Poly CL we realized all of the benefits (and more) your are describing.:thumbsup2

I have to say I've never seen donuts. Typically it rotates through different flavors or Danish, muffins, and breakfast breads. I think the shelf life on those types of items lasts longer and can be frozen. Donuts tend to get stale, I assume that's why they don't have them.

Well that would explain why I've never seen them! :)

Thanks TigrLvsPooh!

I read both your trip reports and they were great. You seem to have had a much better experience at YC CL in 2012, staff interaction wise.

BWI is a little bit less money for our dates, but DH really wants to try out SAB. I hope all that construction is finished!

I hope you have a GREAT stay!!! :goodvibes I can't wait to book a new Poly CL visit, so I have it to look forward to....my DH would kill me if I did it so soon though. I moved some money from checking to savings this morning to start saving for next year. Also looking forward to seeing what they do to upgrade the rooms.

Glad you had a great stay :). We are trying Poly CL next summer and can't wait. We had a fabulous stay in Samoa and loved being so close to the volcano pool as we spent alot of time swimming, so being in the Hawaii building will be great :goodvibes.
