Anyone been in this cabin? Would like report and also would like to know if the verandah is non-obstructed view.

thanks....

I did read the cabin reports and no one mentioned if it was obstructed, so I will assume it is not....but just checking...

thanks again

We have just got back from 5 nights on The Dream staying in 7556 which I guess is the same. We loved the room. Very central location, very quiet and no restricted view. We spent a lot of time on the verandah. Would chose this room again if we could.

Thanks for the info...I had to switch due to a restricted view...so hopefully this will be a full view./answering for DH dreamboatwally....

Sorry-but are you saying you switched to 7556 because your other room had an obstructed view or switched from 7556 because it was obstructed?

TIA Linda

I believe they switched into 7556 due to previous cabin had that 14 inches of outer skin somewhat blocking view on veranda. They are now a door down from outer skin.

I would like to point out that if in skin room you have a better shot at a view down to sea between lifeboats fwiw.

You are correct. They switched from 7162 (we had 7164) and these staterooms were far enough aft that we had the view of the extended Deck 5 verandahs. I hope the numbered Dream photo is correct for the Starboard mid section which includes 7556; it had been off by one stateroom for the aft photo because 7162 and 7164 shared the skin rather than 7160 and 7162.

Someone recently posted they booked according to these photos around 7650/7648 (where the skin is shown) to avoid the skin, only to find they had the skin. Meaning the skin is wrong here too. Maybe the whole deck 7 is off one one two cabins? :confused3

I always thought I was helping folks with these photos, perhaps not, at least on deck seven.:scared1:

It just tried to drag decks and find an obvious error, but it looks good to me?

It would behoove us to figure out the error and correct.:thumbsup2

I guess I have a mission onboard, if I get bored, while on the Fantasy Saturday.
I'll tell everyone to hang a billboard, with the room #, off the balcony, while in port, if you have outer skin, and I'll take a photo.:rotfl2:

;) I don't think you will get bored! I went onto our 7164 verandah specifically to check the obstruction of 7162 and to my surprise the "skin" was ours! And from what I could gather, DCL appears to assign these staterooms to CMs unless, of course, a guest specifically requests one.

We were in 7556 on the Fantasy in June with my MIL in 7558. No obstructions at all. We also encountered no noise issues either. As PP noted the cabin has a good location between the mid and forward elevators. During rush hours like right before dinner the mid elevators become really crowded and it is a short walk over to the forward elevators.

I thnk I know what the problem is. The port side numbering is off from the starboard side numbering. For Deck 7, rather than minus 500 to find the corresponding port side stateroom, minus 498 gets you the correct stateroom. For example: 7660 has the skin on the starboard side minus 498 is the 7162 stateroom which corresponds and has the skin. HTH!

The photos are correct for 7662, which has the skin, which is valid for the mirror image cabin 7164 on starboard, which shows the skin. Actually the photos don't show the skin, it was added later. But you can visualize the skin running from the gaps of glass on 11 down between lifeboats.

Thanks for this verification. Would be great for others to verify skins on deck 7 too. Especially around midships.

I would agree that DCL could give these skin cabins to VGT bookings unless otherwise booked.

I wonderful if you call DCL directly for a veranda booking whether they mention the skin at all? Wonder whether they even have this info?

What is a "skin"....does this mean that you have a white wall veranda or is it something else. We are booked in rooms 7054 and 7052 for our upcoming cruise on the Fantasy, but can switch if we need to to deck 8 - what are your thoughts...this is our first time on the fantasy but we have been on the wonder and the magic. I also read that the 5C rooms on the fantasy are small than the 5C on the magic but I havent check yet.

The 7662 starboard cabin corresponds to 7164 (7662 - 498). The numbering is off because there are five forward cabins on the bow of Deck 7 and that alters the numbering.

If you look at the deck plan for Deck 7 on the DCL site or Expedia, 7052 and 7054 are the mirror images of 7550 and 7552. On the photo of the Dream, 7552 will have the slight obstruction from the wall decor/siding (skin) at the aft end of the verandah. Your corresponding 7054 will also have the metal decor on the aft end of the balcony.
Here are the numbered photos of the Dream:

And here is the Deck Plan:

If you want to PM me with your email address, I can forward you pics of the slight obstruction that was on the 7164 verandah.

Ooh, my family is booked in 7552/7554 (connecting) on the Fantasy; do we have the same skin issue?
Will we be able to open up the verandahs together?
And here's a link to the photos thread:

Yes, you will have the "skin/obstruction" and the verandah divider will still open but you will have the outer wall/skin at the midline. If you PM me your email address I can forward a picture of the metal siding "skin." It's on my iPad and is easier to email rather than post here.

What is a "skin"....

Skin is my term for an outer metal (some say structural, I say not) decorative panel, approximately 3 feet wide, that runs vertically between the gaps in the glass atrium like protrusions on deck 11, all the way down to the lifeboats. This skin blocks the view somewhat depending on cabin location, couch/bed config for some units where these skins are located.

Some feel this is major as indicated in this post.

Others feel it's no biggie, but given choice, and DCL being sooo discounted, why not know what your booking in advance.

We have found an error in the thread always referenced, at least on deck seven, regarding skin location.
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2586763
It appears to be limited to somewhat middle of deck seven.

The outer skin is not completely installed in these photos as to the confusion.
But you can picture the skin running down the ship vertically from the gaps in glass on deck 11 to the lifeboats, that affect some verandas where that vertical panel exists.

That sounds more confusing than an explanation?

I'm going to link this thread to the labeled photo thread to help somewhat.

One advantage if you look closely at the photos linked earlier is you can see down between the lifeboats.

Actually after looking closer at the deck plans, if you are seated at the couch in either cabin this panel will affect your view. Some configs I think won't, but yours will. I wouldn't like that. Switch if possible.

HOWEVER, do we know the photos are correct for these cabins. I would call DCL / TA to verify. Please report back if DCL even knows which cabins have these skins.

Duh, I wrote the same # twice.
I corrected my post. thanks for the proof.:thumbsup2

;) I see a major project in your future!! Very nice job of explaining too! If you would like a pic of 7164's verandah, please PM me your email and you can use it as reference.
