Monthly ROFR Data - UPDATED 05/07/2013

This past month DVD's ROFR activity slowed down a bit compared to previous months. In August 2012, DVD reacquired 16 deeds and 3,221 points, the fewest number of deeds and points since March 2012. As in recent months, Old Key West deeds were the most common reacquired in August and accounted for about half (1,641 points) of the reacquired points.

Of the seven OKW deeds reacquired, I located quitclaim deeds for four of them, meaning that the owners did not pay to extend the life of the deed from 2042 to 2057. These non-extended deeds accounted for 1,031 points. I could not locate quitclaim deeds for the other three OKW deeds, which means the owners may have opted to extend their deeds to 2057.

So far in 2012, DVD has reacquired 69 OKW deeds worth 14,998 points. Although this may sound like a large number of OKW deeds being ROFRed, DVD is still selling a large number of OKW points to the general public. For the eight months ending August 31, 2012, DVD has sold 430 OKW deeds containing 42,437 points.

September 2012 saw a slight increase in the number of points reacquired by Disney Vacation Development via its Right of First Refusal (ROFR) process. As has been the case for over a year, DVD reacquired more points for Old Key West than for any other DVC resort.

As I have posted before, the Orange County Comptroller's website (which is the source of the data for the WDW DVC resorts) is no longer displaying the price paid to reacquire the deeds. Thus, I cannot track the price paid by DVD to reacquire these points.

Thanks for consolidating this info. It's always interesting to see what the trends are. I wish you could still see the ROFR prices!! Especially since my contract just got snatched back by them!
I have a question...
the OKW column shows a total of 24k points sold, but the amount looked to me to be greater than the points for BC which totaled 29k. When I totaled the OKW column I got 47903 points. Am I missing something in how you came to your totals?
Thanks again for all the work you put into this, it's really some effort you put into this monthly update, I may not post, but I like to look at what you compile:thumbsup2

I started tracking the ROFR data by DVC Resort beginning in June 2010. On the chart, I display just the last 13 calendar months and 'hide' the earlier months. However, the summary line at the bottom of the chart shows data for all months from June 2010 to the present. I do this mainly to keep the chart from getting too large.

Thanks for following along! Sometimes I wonder if anyone really reads this stuff.

I actually remember when this post came out! I had been lurking around this site and finally took the plunge and bought in 2010! I had trouble doing anything but watching this board! ha ha ha!

...so I know that it says that the bottom row is a total of the points since 2010... but 24k isnt even a total of the past 13 months of OKW points, so I didnt understand how you came to that total... am I being dense? ... the numbers for OKW sept '11 to sept '12 total 49k no?

.... ok I concede to DENSE! not sure what happened with my math, but it all just registered...... Call me embarassed.

Can I delete my post!

Ah well, people can laugh at me, maybe it will take their minds off politics! ha ha ha:rotfl2:

How come I don't see AULV on the list? Does it mean there isn't any or is it on a different database?

There aren't many Aulani points on the resale market yet. Plus DVD still has plenty of Aulani points to sell, there is no reason for them buy take any back through ROFR.

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards App, please excuse any typos.

The info is only available for Florida resorts. It's my understanding that the other Governments don't make the info public.

As disneynutz points out, my ROFR database is compiled from free information available to the public from the Orange County Comptroller and Indian River County websites. Although similar information is also available for Aulani and Villas of Grand Californian, the Hawaii Bureau of Conveyances and the Orange County, California Clerk-Recorder's Office charge $1.00 a page to view deeds filed with them.

Why has there been such little interest in obtaining VWL contracts and points? Only 2 contracts were retained since 2010? Does DVC still have a lot of VWL points in its inventory? Something else?

I don't think that anyone can know for sure. VWL is a smaller resort and maybe the owners tend to sell less.

October 2012 saw more deeds and points reacquired by Disney Vacation Development via the ROFR process than any other month since June 2010 when I started tracking this data. As has been the norm since August 2011, more deeds and points were reacquired for Old Key West than for any other DVC resort. In October, DVD reacquired 29 OKW deeds containing 5,817 points -- the largest number of deeds or points reacquired in a single month from any DVC resort.

EDITED: Coincidentally, DVD sold 4,886 OKW points in October 2012.

Looks like they may be running low on points and/or they want to offer OKW as an alliterative for buyers who take issue with the new resort prices.
