I agree with you that Reagan was handsome. He was charming too so I'm thinking that adds to his good looks.

I think George W is handsome too--kind of rugged good looks. :) I think the older he gets, the more like he looks like his dad, who is not so handsome to me but I do like his personality.

I do not think Obama is good looking but he does keep himself in good shape.
There is something about Clinton's nose that is bulb-like to me and makes me think of an alcoholic. I know people think he is really handsome, I just don't see it.

Always thought W was handsome!! Agree with everything you said!!:thumbsup2

This is not meant to stir debate; it's just for fun. :)

I'm having a very boring Sunday so I just wanted to start a random thread. Who do you think are the best looking and ugliest presidents? Based on looks only. For me, best looking would be John F. Kennedy, and the ugliest would be a 10-way tossup, but Taft looked like a walrus. :lmao:

I'd add Michael Douglas to the best looking president list. ;)

Buckalew, I think you almost hit it spot on. Reagan and W are the hottest so far, with Clinton and Obama being the most recent of the uglies. I do think that if this question was for VPs, Ryan would make a pretty good top of the list for that one!::yes:: I really don't remember any other VPs or candidates that stood out, but I might could this one.;)

I thought that Dan Quayle was pretty back in the day as is John Edwards. I think both of them are better looking than Ryan. Too bad Edwards turned into such a creep.

Okay I can think of some Presidents that are good looking or handsome (although, not many) but HOT?! Oh no........ not a single one. :rotfl:

I still find it's what's on the inside that makes one handsome/beautiful so having said that my choices are:

Most handsome and oddly enough my two favorites
1. George Washington
2. Ronald Reagan

Least favorite/attractive

1. Obama
2. Jimmy Carter

and if Al Gore had won he would be my #1 UGLY just because he is on so many altitudes-levels.

If you are basing it on what's inside how could you choose Jimmy Carter? He wasn't a good President but he has done so much for people all over the globe since he's been out of office. I admit on the outside he isn't very attractive.

I also can't understand how anyone could think Obama is "ugly". Politics aside, he's an attractive man. I think people are basing this on what they think of the politician and less on what he looks like. George W. Bush was one of my least favorite Presidents but I can look at him and say that he is an attractive man.

I had to go back and look at photos of some of the older ones. The one that jumped out at me was Grant, to be honest.
I do tend to like bigger, burlier, but still distinguished lookin guys. (Think Sean Connery, yum.) And I love a beard.
So... there ya go.

I'll add that Truman jumped out at me as having the most "Presidential" face. Very clean cut, interlligent and kind looking in appearance.

The "ugly" ones to me seemed to be the first presidents, but I think I was swayed by the hair. I would love to see their face with a more modern hair style and see if it changes my mind.

Check out this forensic reconstruction of George Washington as a 19 yo:

This figure is one of a set on display at Mt. Vernon that were done using forensic reconstruction technology, so unlike the contemporary portraits, this can be trusted to be accurate. This would be from before he started to have dental problems, the pain of which did quite a lot to ruin his looks as he aged.

Best Looking would likely go to Kennedy, Reagan, and W.

Obama does absolutely nothing for me, but I wouldn't ever put him in the least attractive category. He's just average. Taft would fall into the uggo category. Cleveland would be there, as well.

Now, if we can get Dennis Quaid to run for president, he will be skyrocketed to the top of the hottie category.

I think George W. and Obama are the best looking.

Kennedy I don't find attractive at all, though i can understand why people do, his looks just turn me off, I think its his hair. LOL His son, in the other hand, was delicious!
Clinton, blah, his bulbous nose doesn't do him any favors. I don't think Reagan is good looking, though like Kennedy, I can understand why people do.

I dunno, I think Thomas Jefferson was pretty hot. I have a thing for Renaissance men.

Never could get past JFKs accent.:crazy2:

LBJ--looks like your creepy uncle that tries to get you to go into the bathroom with him

Reagan--a man's man

Theodore Roosevelt--gotta love a man who takes me camping :p

Ditto Ulysses S. Grant--set aside the first US national park, the incomparable Yellowstone National Park

Andrew Jackson has some "bad boy" good looks
You basically listed mine except I think JFK does belong on the good looking list - and I don't think Taft was bad looking.
My handsomest - JFK, Reagan, Jefferson, Grant, Teddy, Jackson
Worst looking - Nixon, LBJ, Lincoln, John Tyler, Obama

Should be a rule, if you are judging others looks than you must put your own recent picture on the thread too. ::yes::
