For the last 3 years something has come up and I have not been able to go to HHN. I don't want to jinx myself, but it looks like I am going on Sunday the 14th ... :cheer2::thumbsup2:cheer2: let's hope it doesn't pour that night now..

That is where I plan on being as well. :cool1: ok, now give me some tips on which houses to hit first please ;) I know last time I was there, I managed to do 3 in a matter of less than an hour by doing stay and scream. Then again that was a while ago... less crowded back then. It seems even the off nights are crowded (at least that is what I have been told). I am not and will not get Express Pass.. can't fork over that money. :upsidedow

I was just there this past weekend (thursday and Friday) and stayed at Finnegan's S&S. Got released at 5:45. We led the pack to Silent Hill, then Gothic, Dead End (6:30 by now) then on to Walking Dead. No problems with anything more than a 5 minute back up IF that. The Queues are so long and far that you are walking slower than they let people in the house. We then went over and did Alice, Penn and Teller, then House of Horrors. We followed this pattern both nights and it worked great. We then hit Bill & Ted and then leisurely experienced every house a second time with Express Pass. WONDERFUL!

I don't have Express this year either...since I live in town and go often, there was just no sense to buy it this year.

Last night it was very busy for a Sunday night. The holding area was released around 5:50pm I guess and I've never seen it so crowded. I think the Scream Early tickets for Fl residents have added to the crowds. Macraven, DCTooTall and I only did three houses last night before the wait times went to at least 45 minutes for every house. They had Express but were nice enough to wait in the early lines but I didn't want them to wait in 45 minute lines with me. It looked like the general public was released into the park around 6:15pm or so which is early. By 6:30pm, Dead End had a 45 minute wait so we skipped that one and went to The Walking Dead which only had a 20 minute wait.

If you're doing S & S, you'll do Silent Hill first. I would head for Gothic and Dead End next since those are all together. Then move around to The Walking Dead. Make sure you do the last three in this order: House of Horrors, Alice Cooper and Penn & Teller.

Metro, totally understand not getting the express added to your pass since you live here like us. It's expensive and you can surely see everything multiple times without it. However, going to the event in broad daylight taints the experience a bit, no? We haven't showed up before 7pm since it started this year, and even 7pm was too much sun for us.

Arriving early doesn't bother me and because of my work hours, I really don't have a choice. If I waited until dark I could only stay a couple of hours...not worth the gas to go. I also kinda like to watch darkness descend over the park and see the atmosphere change...that's cool. ;)

Can I ask why? It seems you pointed this out for a reason. Thanks.

Certainly...it's because of how the entrances and exits meet up. For example...

The House of Horrors exit queue ends right beside the queue entrance to Alice Cooper. So you would make an immediate right to enter the queue for AC which exits near the entrance of P & T. You would have to walk just a little to get into the queue for P & T. Once you exit P & T, you're done with minimal walking on that side of the park.

Makes great sense. Thanks. You have been very helpful, not only to me, but everyone. I am very appreciative.

I pulled the trigger and bought the HHN Express passes for the 28th today. Seems the lines are long and will continue to be that way. I think we will be very glad we spent the extra money for it.

Thanks again.

You will definitely be glad you spent the money on the EPs. A couple of years ago the last Sunday of the event was jammed and I mean jammed! I'm sure you'll have a great time!

I know I sound like a broken record, but if you're only going 1-2 nights, always buy express. The reason they are so expensive is because they are worth it.

I started going in 2000. We were able to hit every house in one night, though we did close it down. By 2002, not a chance on a weekend. I believe that year it was "Maximum Carnage" in IOA. We stood in line for almost 2 hours just for 1 house. Never again.

Thanks. I appreciate your feedback too. That's what I have been learning is that to make all the houses in only one night it seems you definitely need it. We have never been and probably won't be back for a while it will be worth it for us. We only have one night so we need to make sure we do it right. We will probably close it down as well since we want to get the most out of it. But reading what everybody has been reporting I hope it doesn't rain that night. We really want to see the Herds of Walkers roaming around. Plus I don't want to wait in lines for up to 2 hours. Thanks again for everyone's time and input of helping us newbies out.

I went opening night this year. It poured rain from about rope drop for HHN until around 930. It worked for us and against us. We were able to do every maze and see Bill and Ted, but we all caught a mini cold and those wearing flip flops had blisters. But it was fun none the less!!!

It was like two entirely different evenings for me. I arrived around 4pm on opening night and the weather was sunny and hot...a beautiful day. Then it started raining around 5:15pm or so and didn't stop until long after I left around 8:30pm or so. Since I was already soaked, I decided to stay and do the five houses I hadn't done during the preview night. Mission accomplished.

If only going one night would Thursday 10/11 or Friday 20/12 be better. Both with EP.

I've heard that sometimes express lines can be very long also. So on average, what is the wait time difference between the regular lines and the EP lines?

The reason I'm questioning is that since the EP is cheaper on Thursday will more people buy it and therefore those lines are longer than a Friday night.

Thursday is usually a little better than Friday but not by much. I would say it's a toss up but if you're going to have an EP, it won't really matter for wait times. Express wait times can be upwards of 30 minutes on the weekend so in that respect, stick with Thursday night.

I've been to three peak nights (fri/sat) and 3 off peak, and it's been my experience that off peak nights sometimes have longer express lines than peak nights. The express passes are a lot cheaper, so it's my assumption that most people buy them those nights and don't go fri/sat. I know we've done that in the past.

The express lines for walking dead and penn and teller have been the longest. We didn't do walking dead on sunday because the express line was regularly 30 minutes.

That being said, if the express is 30 minutes that usually means the standby line is well over 60 minutes. We are very happy to have express again this year and think you will be happy as well. I don't think the event is going to get any slower than what it is now, and if these past two weeks are any indication, we're in for some long lines these upcoming weeks.

I had been invited to preview night, but we decided to go to the magic kingdom instead. I had heard it was packed, so got lucky with the rain in my opinion!

After Metro left us on Sunday night, house waits rose to 90 minutes for 3 of the houses. A couple of the house waits were at 75 minutes.

Without express that night, we would not have been able to finish the houses and bill and Ted.
