Where did that lovely rare beef come from? Perhaps I need to add another restaurant to our next trip. Looks like you ate a lot of carbs. I need protein and more protein.

Thanks for getting back to us. I truly was starting to worry. I stalked you today and found you posting a whole lot on some other forum. :rolleyes1 At least I knew you were alive and well.

My DH and I usually tend to drive straight through from New England, or at least with only one stop. Last week I drove with a friend and we took our time. She had a copy of the route 95 book in hand looking for interesting things. At exit 4 in Virginia is the Good Earth Peanut Company. It is only a mile or so from the exit. Lets just say we both walked out of there with about 8 pints of various nut flavors :thumbsup2 Super yummy! They are closed Sundays but you can also pick up some of their flavors at the Loves truck stop at the same exit. Which we did on the return drive since we had eaten everything and wanted to bring some home to friends.

dvczerf's food photos (and comments) had us laughing! :lmao:

Quite wonderful, indeed!

All the best. :thumbsup2

First I love this forum
Second I've come to the conclusion that I can't catch up on all the prior postings

we (dh,ds(4) and I) are going to drive for our first time to wdw on december. still exploring the various routes...leaving from brooklyn ny. Guess weather will be the biggest factor but leaving that aside at this point, can I get hotel suggestions
-I95 and
-I81, I77, I26, I95
I don't need fancy, though would prefer free breakfast

Thanks

Many major highway hotels and motels offer "free" breakfasts. Just go to any of their websites and check out the offerings.

Since this is your first drive, don't worry too much about the hotels and motels; however, do concern yourself with avoiding rush hour traffic areas, especially the NJ Turnpike and greater DC. Also be aware of home NFL games along the I-95 route, especially Giants/Jets, Ravens and Jaguars.

All the best. :thumbsup2

keep a close eye on the weather on i81/i77 in the mountains in december. if you have a smart phone, get the weather channel ap, its free. it has live radar. (im sure there are other good weather aps as well, i just us the wc.) i can tell you from experience that it may be fine before you hit the mountains, but once up the mountain, you may not like the ride back down.
we take i81/i66/rt17/i95 in the winter if theres any chance of snow on i81 in the mountains. best way if you can, leave a day before or after to miss a winter weather event.

Here ya go, from my post the other day.
We live in NE PA too! Between Allentown and Kutztown. We prefer to split up our days as 10 hours the 1st day and 8 hours the 2nd. We leave by 8 a.m. at the latest, depends on what time the kids get up. They do much better in the car if they've had their "normal" night's sleep the night before
We stop over in Richburg SC as we go 78-81-77-26 and pick up 95 later!
We stay at the Motel 6...it used to be a Microtel Inn so it is mch nicer than what you think of when you think of Motel 6 and I am VERY picky about where we stay
You can get a room with 2 queen beds, or king bed and sleeper sofa and micro/fridge bar suite for $55 a night plus tax. We like it as we have 3 kids and it actually has a windowseat in the room that can be used as a bed for a small child so it sleep all 5 of us...no need to pay for 2 rooms!

Click on the pictures on tripadvisor to see the room layout.
Also there a bunch of places to eat right near the Motel 6: McD's, Bk, KFC, Sunway, Front Porch, Waffle House etc.

i forgot to mention, we are now owners of a peoples locker at wdw. i know some of you have one or two all ready but what a great idea!!! if this one works out for us, down the road i can see us getting another one.
there not to expensive and for people who bring everything but the kitchen sink, trip after trip or just seem to keep hauling the same things down and back, its a great idea. as you can see, we like to bring the comforts of home with us:

we really got alot in it and it will save me alot of storing and hauling around. if i get one more, we could keep our clothes there and just bring a small bag with us. (along with cooler and snacks)

Countdown tasks....

Our vehicle was serviced today: oil change, air filter changed, tires rotated and balanced, etc.

More to come.

All the best. :thumbsup2

Picked up some more supplies to entertain the kids on the drive ...thank you $ Tree!

We are leaving tomorrow night. Think we are just about done packing. Just a few small things to get done.

Last day of work! :cool1::cool1::goodvibes

Since we are essentially "neighbors," we are very much interested in your actual departure time on Friday night and subsequent state border crossing times.

Keep us posted.

All the best. :thumbsup2

Yes we are pretty much neighbors :wave2:. I will make sure my wife keeps track of our progress and post Saturday afternoon.

Your countdown is now in hours! :hourglass

If your Garden State Parkway exit is #67, please note that the main WDW entrance on I-4 is #67. How coincidentally cool is that! :cool1:

All the best. :thumbsup2

I was very honored to meet the great miler marker man too, HELLO, I was hoping that everyones health was okay and all was well after the last trip.
My annual pass is up but still have tickets on my room key from the free dining two weeks ago.
DD got to the MNNSHP and we both loved it!

Oh, dh was looking through trip photos yesterday and wanted to know who the man I was with, then remembered "Oh, is that the guy that has been to Disney a zillion times?"
Nice to read you tonight.
