Heat on yet?

No heat yet. We heat with oil, and it is crazy expensive, so I try to conserve.;) Generally, I won't turn it on until the first of November. We'll see if I can get away with that this year. Last year, I had to turn it on in October because of "snowtober" on Halloween weekend.

58 inside this morning. Flipped the heat on for the first time in months.

NEPA here! We are trying to hold out until November as well. It's been cold, but not freezing. The house goes down to about 66 degrees overnight. If it gets too cold, I bake something to warm things up.

Last year's October snow was crazy. IIRC we turned the heat on about a week before Halloween.

You can force it to Heat, Cool or Off, but we just leave it on Auto all the time. The system we have can be programmed and adjusted from any PC or mobile phone app.

Do you use the mobile app function? I was chuckling at the thought of caring about the temperature of my house when I'm not there. Lol!

Another thought was not trusting the spouse to keep it set where I want it when I'm not there. Kinda control freaky. :rotfl2:

A/C on here still temps all week 86-88 degrees. :confused3

Yuck, wishing for just 10 degree drop.

My son and his girlfriend are in Orlando this weekend.
She just told me its sticky hot already. 11am.....

Florida temps..... oh well

Nope not yet. I have to laugh because my dd just came out of her room complaining its so cold and when are we going to turn on the heat. She was wearing a cami and shorts :faint:

Not very often, but when we travel and turn the system on to vacation mode, we have used it to switch it back to normal mode on our way home so the home is back to normal temperatures.

Also, sometimes if I'm in bed, and I want it warmer/cooler, I just grab my phone and change the temperature instead of getting up and adjusting the thermostat. My phone is enver more than a few feet from me.

I'm in NEPA and we are under a frost advisory! Are y'all turning it on tonight? Mine has been on all day we also heat with oil :headache:

It's going down to 42 tonight, last time I checked it was 65 in here but I think it's probably gone down more. It's getting chilly in here! Still no heat on yet thought, holding out as long as I can!

Heat finally went on here. Got down to 22 Friday night. I woke up freezing to find the thermostat reading 56 degrees in the house! You better believe I turned the heater on.

It stayed on last night (another night in the 20's), but will probably go off tonight as it will only get down to about 36 so I will just double blanket. The next couple of days the weather will be yo-yoing; 72 high tomorrow 55 high Tuesday, back into the 20s overnight and then back up to the 30s for a low, so we shall see.

I actually hate turning the heater on for the first time because of that burning dust smell that comes out. I always try to delay it even when I am cold. It seems that no matter how clean I keep the filters and vents, the first time I turn on the heater (after being off for months) it stinks to high heaven YECH!!

of course, this time of the eyar, I will have heat on at night and a/c in the day, thats just how I roll, same for everyhitng, I might take a 5 hour energy drink at 6, then a sleeping pill at 11, Im cool that way :scared:

lol I'm the opposite. I like it to be cold at night and I cuddle under a down comforter. I like to be warm during the day, though (unless I'm exercising or cleaning really hard, but that doesn't happen often lol).

It's 41 degrees out and we haven't turned it on yet. In our old house, we'd be freezing inside if it was 41 outside, but this house has great insulation. I am a little chilly, but I'll be going to bed soon and get warm under the covers.

We've still got the airco on, the lows have been in the high 80's this week. :crazy2:

Haven't turned the heat on yet. Has gotten down into the mid 30's once or twice, and is to drop that low again tonight. Right now the place is sitting at 72.

And had to turn it on today. Went out on a overnight trip with some friends, walked into the house this afternoon, 55. Set it to 68 and that is where it stays.

I turned it on Saturday morning for the first time after we woke up at it was 61 inside. :hyper: (shivering smilie) It was under 60 all day and I bumped up the temp Sat. night to 68.

I don't know how some of you are able to keep it so darn low inside. Even at 68, I"m wearing a sweatshirt & cold without a blanket.

Thought of this thread this afternoon when my AC kicked on.

Same reason those who keep the heat low can't understand how folks can state 80° in the AC threads during the summer :scared: (sweating smiley).

Wifey was chilled a bit last night. Thermostat read 64 all day, so she turned it up to 65 and it kicked on last night. The 8 year old flew out of her room, "You're turning the heat on? I LOVE THIS!!!!" and went back to grab a blanket to huddle over the floor vent between the kitchen and living room, LOL.

My kids do the same thing. We had to turn ours on yesterday because it was 58 in here when we woke up. I waited until noon to see if it would go up but it didn't budge, so I caved and turned the heat up to 64.

It's 69.3 in here this morning. I'm still holding out...;)

I think it helps that we live in a twin- our neighbors help keep us warm :goodvibes

Turned it on last Friday. I hate the cold and it is getting in the 30's at night and 50-60 during the day. All the pictures on the news of snow just made me shutter. I hate snow more than cold.
