I've been okay waiting around...until now. Now, every time I look at my email my heart skips a beat :rotfl2: I am in fear of accidentally deleting any important emails, so I'm not deleting any. So silly of me:blush:

I am sooo excited right now, I have been filling my days/nights to keep me busy otherwise I would a wreck by now lol
It's my birthday next week and it would make an excellent birthday present.

Hello everyone! I am currently living in a technological black hole thanks to a major outage here in my home town. A group of road workers accidentally dug up over 200 feet of cables connecting several types of communication including phone lines, internet, and lines to cell phone towers. I currently have no home phone or internet service and my cell phone is barely getting a tiny bit of a signal here and there. Needless to say our family is rediscovering what life was like in the good old days!!!! LOL :D I don't know who is more in shock, the kids without their Xbox or me without my computer. ;) Our local news reported last night it will be 3-5 days before they can restore services to everyone affected. {{Yikes!}} Hopefully someone here at the DIS can send me smoke signals, note by carrier pigeon, or message by pony express if there is news about the moms panel R2!!! :) :) :)
..... Now back to churning butter and candle making ...... ;)

OK, I have two added comments.

1. I was interviewed by the Disney Passporter Moms Podcast about the 2013 search. Listen for the DIS boards shout out!

2. Disney should be legally required to suspend all e-mail marketing during the annual Moms Panel search. That way the "Here is our newest resort discount program" e-mails won't send us all into heart attacks thinking it is the "Please come back for round 2" e-mails.

That is it from me today. Will check in Monday hoping to hear lots of good news!

Hi Doug... don't get me started on those "other" Disney emails. I never realized how many of those lists exist until this time of year. I get 3-4 per day, which is usually a good thing. And we will definitely listen for our DIS-Shoutout... was it live, or will they play it at a later date?

Hmmm..... I re-read the original confirmation email I received after applying. I'm wondering if we will get emails if we aren't selected for R2?!

Since this is my first year applying I don't know if this is what the emails have always said in the past?!

"Applicants who are selected for the next round in the application process will be contacted via email by a representative from Walt Disney World® Resort. Due to the high number of submissions, we will be unable to contact applicants not chosen to advance to the next round."

They have said that every year, but I have always gotten a reject email. Hope I get a different email this time!

Happy Saturday everyone! Just wanted to stop in to say hello and good luck and I really hope today is the day we hear because I'm about to go nuts!!

Those "other" emails have stopped my heart over the last couple days, so I agree with you Doug - we should petition for them to stop the marketing while we wait :thumbsup2

TigrLuvsPooh - I'm sending pixie dust and good wishes to you for a speedy return to the land of the connected! pixiedust:

I'm off for a run to try and take my mind off of it. For all you runDisney runners - how cold does it have to be before you start running inside? This morning it's about 20 here in Colorado and I've never run in that kind of cold before. I'm afraid I'm going to turn into a popsicle! :lmao:

Yeah, I have always gotten a reject letter too. I think it is just boilerplate, just in case something happens and they cannot send out round 2 rejection notices.

DisFanInCo, It all depends on your personal preference and tolerance at different temperatures. When running, the ambient temperature will feel about 20 degrees warmer to you due to your exertion etc. So, if you can dress where you'd be comfortable at 40 degrees (on a 20 degree day) then you should be fine. However, if you find that you are experiencing shivering, numbness, etc. then you need to re-evaluate - you may need a break inside, additional layers, or cut your run short. Also, be very careful around ice when it is that cold. Always listen to your body and don't forget to hydrate even when it is cold!

The difference in temperatures is crazy, I'm in NJ and just did my "wogging" it is 70 here! Next week looks like it really going to cool off here.

To paraphrase an old running motto - "There is no bad weather, only bad clothing."

I do a lot of treadmill running, but that's mainly because I have two kids who are not old enough to be left on their own, so I can't always hit the road.

As akasleepingbeauty said, running makes things feel about 20 degrees warmer than it really is. Basically, you want to be dressed such that, just standing outside, waiting to run, you feel cool but not really cold. Dress in layers, and as you warm up, remove layers as needed. For a short run (up to 4 miles or so), in 20 degree weather, on a calm and sunny day, I would wear the following:

Shoes (Vibrams, no socks)
Winter Shorts (I have several pair of running shorts that are noticeably thicker and warmer. Can't run in them until the weather is under 40)
Long sleeve tech shirt
Gloves
Winterhat

But that's me. I prefer cooler temperatures, and even a sunny day in the 70s feels to warm to me. (Summer is beastly. My allergies to sunscreen don't help matters.) If I am running longer, or if it was snowing, or windy - the shorts get replaced by running pants (or the pants get added as a layer), and I would wear a tech T under the long shirt.

Again - listen to your body, especially in cold or adverse conditions. If you are shivering or getting numb, get inside as soon as possible. And, while it is always a good idea, in winter running - tell people where you are going, what your route is going to be, and how long you should be gone.

Hope today is the day..however I will have to wait to check e-mail until late tonight, so I'm between hoping this thread has blown up by then (because notices went out) and not wanting to miss out on all the excitement. :upsidedow

I am heading into Toronto today for my aunt's 90th birthday party! She's a grand gal and we are going to fete her well! Her 92 year old sister (also my aunt, obviously!) has traveled from Nova Scotia to be with her, too.

It is DH's birthday today as well and we have already had a breakfast celebration...it's a beautiful day here, sun is shining, leaves are turning a little more each day, so the colours are just gorgeous. Nice day for a drive.

Lots to distract me today...I hope all of you find a happy distraction as well! :goodvibes
