After our breakfast with the residents of the Hundred Acre Woods, we enjoyed a morning of short lines in Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, Storybook Circus, and Frontierland. Our longest wait was 20 minutes.
(For those of you like me with small bladders, the upstairs area is the bathroom.)
Noon arrived quickly. We checked in at Liberty Tree Tavern and were seated in minutes.
Our waitress was smiling and looked cute in her colonial outfit, but it appears that I have lost her name. She was efficient but very busy, so we didn't get a picture.
For drinks I ordered an unsweet tea and everyone else got Cokes.
The menu did not match what is currently showing on the Disboard.
(Sorry about the blur from the flash.)
Billy, Dana & Jeff all ordered the Tavern Fried Cheese appetizers.
Tavern Fried Cheese - Served with marinara sauce. - $5.99
I ordered the Declaration Salad with the Roasted-garlic buttermilk dressing on the side.
Declaration Salad - Field greens and vegetables tossed with your choice of our Tavern Strawberry vinaigrette or Roasted-garlic buttermilk dressing. - $5.49
Jeff & I shared our appetizers. The fried cheese was good. The outside was a crisp seasoned bread crumb and the cheese on the inside was melted perfectly. Jeff and I liked the mildly spicy marinara, but Billy & Dana did not care of it. They borrowed some of my buttermilk dressing for their cheese sticks and declared it perfect. The salad was a nice mix of greens. The cucumbers and tomatoes were very good. This salad was nice and light. Jeff doesn't eat any salad dressing, but I liberally applied dressing to my salad. The dressing was good. It did not have any of the bitter after taste that is often present in bottled buttermilk ranch dressing.
When it came time entrees Billy, Dana & Jeff all ordered the Angus Chuck Cheeseburger.
The buns were fresh and good. The burger was large. The hamburger was considered good, though nothing super special.
I decided to order the New England Pot Roast.
New England Pot Roast...Tavern Keeper's Favorite - Braised beef in a Cabernet wine and mushroom sauce served with mashed potatoes and garden vegetables. - $17.99
I wanted to see if this pot roast was better than the pot roast at 50's Prime Time. In my opinion, the pot roast at 50's Prime Time was better. However, I liked the mashed potatoes and sauce better in this dish than at 50's Prime Time. I could have just eaten a bowl of potatoes and sauce and been happy.
At this point we were all full, but we wanted to try at least a few bites of the desserts.
Billy ordered the chocolate cake.
Martha Washington's Cake- a slice of rich chocolate cake, layered with a liberating chocolate icing. $7.99
Billy was pleased with his cake. Dana and I both tasted the cake and we thought it was dry. It did have a good chocolate flavor, but in our opinion it needed to be moister.
Jeff doesn't really care about dessert, but he ordered the seasonal fruit crisp in blueberry.
Fruit Crisp - Baked Seasonal fruits with a crisp streusel topping and homemade ice cream - $5.49
Jeff was not a huge fan, but that meant there was more for the rest of us! This was SO good! The warm fruit and homemade vanilla ice cream was a big hit.
Dana and I both ordered the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake.
Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake - Vanilla cake with a gooey toffee filling, caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream - $6.49
There best way to describe the cake portion is that it was like a blond brownie with a caramel/toffee oozing through out it. The ice cream was good as well. I hated that I did not have room to eat it all.
The end of our meal found us full and satisfied.
Would I go back? Yes!
What would I order? Likely I would order the Pot Roast again. But I would have a real problem deciding between the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake and the Fruit Crisp. I loved them both! If I'm lucky Jeff will be willing to order the Fruit Crisp for me again!!
We headed off to ride Haunted Mansion.
Next...another new experience for us...Tony's Town Square.
