A Texas-sized dining experience. 4 Adults “Stretchy Pants Diet”

After our breakfast with the residents of the Hundred Acre Woods, we enjoyed a morning of short lines in Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, Storybook Circus, and Frontierland. Our longest wait was 20 minutes.

IMG_3960_zps33548aa6.jpg

IMG_3961_zps00f6f96f.jpg

(For those of you like me with small bladders, the upstairs area is the bathroom.)

Noon arrived quickly. We checked in at Liberty Tree Tavern and were seated in minutes.
IMG_3965_zpsa8d0c9a1.jpg

IMG_3963_zps8672ba24.jpg

Our waitress was smiling and looked cute in her colonial outfit, but it appears that I have lost her name. She was efficient but very busy, so we didn't get a picture.
For drinks I ordered an unsweet tea and everyone else got Cokes.

The menu did not match what is currently showing on the Disboard.

(Sorry about the blur from the flash.)

Billy, Dana & Jeff all ordered the Tavern Fried Cheese appetizers.
IMG_3972_zps683d3ad8.jpg

Tavern Fried Cheese - Served with marinara sauce. - $5.99

I ordered the Declaration Salad with the Roasted-garlic buttermilk dressing on the side.
IMG_3971_zpsbedf69ad.jpg

Declaration Salad - Field greens and vegetables tossed with your choice of our Tavern Strawberry vinaigrette or Roasted-garlic buttermilk dressing. - $5.49

Jeff & I shared our appetizers. The fried cheese was good. The outside was a crisp seasoned bread crumb and the cheese on the inside was melted perfectly. Jeff and I liked the mildly spicy marinara, but Billy & Dana did not care of it. They borrowed some of my buttermilk dressing for their cheese sticks and declared it perfect. The salad was a nice mix of greens. The cucumbers and tomatoes were very good. This salad was nice and light. Jeff doesn't eat any salad dressing, but I liberally applied dressing to my salad. The dressing was good. It did not have any of the bitter after taste that is often present in bottled buttermilk ranch dressing.

When it came time entrees Billy, Dana & Jeff all ordered the Angus Chuck Cheeseburger.
IMG_3974_zps5318edd2.jpg

IMG_3973_zpsec5a9188.jpg

The buns were fresh and good. The burger was large. The hamburger was considered good, though nothing super special.

I decided to order the New England Pot Roast.
IMG_3975_zps41b4403e.jpg

New England Pot Roast...Tavern Keeper's Favorite - Braised beef in a Cabernet wine and mushroom sauce served with mashed potatoes and garden vegetables. - $17.99

I wanted to see if this pot roast was better than the pot roast at 50's Prime Time. In my opinion, the pot roast at 50's Prime Time was better. However, I liked the mashed potatoes and sauce better in this dish than at 50's Prime Time. I could have just eaten a bowl of potatoes and sauce and been happy.

At this point we were all full, but we wanted to try at least a few bites of the desserts.
Billy ordered the chocolate cake.
IMG_3979_zpsb077f330.jpg

IMG_3978_zps30872c51.jpg

Martha Washington's Cake- a slice of rich chocolate cake, layered with a liberating chocolate icing. $7.99
Billy was pleased with his cake. Dana and I both tasted the cake and we thought it was dry. It did have a good chocolate flavor, but in our opinion it needed to be moister.

Jeff doesn't really care about dessert, but he ordered the seasonal fruit crisp in blueberry.
IMG_3980_zps2bed9ee0.jpg

Fruit Crisp - Baked Seasonal fruits with a crisp streusel topping and homemade ice cream - $5.49
Jeff was not a huge fan, but that meant there was more for the rest of us! This was SO good! The warm fruit and homemade vanilla ice cream was a big hit.

Dana and I both ordered the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake.
IMG_3981_zps066f2d0c.jpg

Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake - Vanilla cake with a gooey toffee filling, caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream - $6.49
There best way to describe the cake portion is that it was like a blond brownie with a caramel/toffee oozing through out it. The ice cream was good as well. I hated that I did not have room to eat it all.
The end of our meal found us full and satisfied.
IMG_3968_zps0e5ae773.jpg

IMG_3970_zpseef76afc.jpg

Would I go back? Yes! :thumbsup2
What would I order? Likely I would order the Pot Roast again. But I would have a real problem deciding between the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake and the Fruit Crisp. I loved them both! If I'm lucky Jeff will be willing to order the Fruit Crisp for me again!!:cool1:

We headed off to ride Haunted Mansion.

Next...another new experience for us...Tony's Town Square.

I'm enjoying your reviews, pug crazy. I have been interested in the HOB Gospel Brunch, and this is one of the first reviews I recall reading about it. It is something I will consider for the future.

I have an ADR at Sci-fi next month and the look at the menu gives me some things to think about. Just when I thought I knew what I wanted!

I go back to LTT for the ooey gooey toffee cake but since they changed the fried cheese I no longer order it. (They used to have cheese nuggets and the cheese logs.) We compared the pot roast of 50s and LTT and I actually like LTT a little better.

Oh, and that carrot cake cookie from Sweet Spells is an all time favorite treat! :thumbsup2

since they changed the fried cheese I no longer order it. (They used to have cheese nuggets and the cheese logs.)

What is your preferred appetizer? I am certainly open to new experiences.

I have seen pictures of the cheese nuggets and they looked very good, but alas I guess I'll never get to try them.

My review of the Pot Roast could have been skewed by the fact that I was hungrier when we went to 50's Prime Time than when we went to Liberty Tree. I liked both & will likely order both again on my next visit.

So after eating our fill of patriotic foods at Liberty Tree Tavern, we headed out into the park to ride rides and watch shows until time for the afternoon parade. We had reserved viewing for the parades and fireworks thanks to a cast member who is a friend of the family.

After the parade, we were among the lucky ones that had been able to schedule FastPass Plus events prior to our arrival. We had scheduled rides for the afternoon. We were very pleased with how well this system worked. No running across the park to get a fast pass. Everything worked fine until…we chose to ride Big Thunder Mountain one more time. This put us running later into our time for Space Mountain (Fast Pass Plus time 5:30 – 6:30). We had a 6:10 dinner reservation for Tony’s Town Square. Dana did not plan to ride Space Mountain due to a knee injury so she walked to the front of the park to check in at Tony’s while we rode Space Mountain and then sprinted across the park to Tony’s. This would not have been a problem, but when she checked in at 6:10pm they immediately took her to a table. We were just getting off of Space Mountain. We rushed across the park and entered the restaurant sweating but also hungry. Our table was right next to the Lady and the Tramp fountain.
IMG_2206_zpsff40e423.jpg

IMG_2205_zps91500e59.jpg

IMG_4429_zpsf6cc54f4.jpg

For drinks we had the usual Cokes and Diet Coke with Lime.

We were brought bread and olive oil. We enjoyed this.
IMG_4419_zps919a9c8b.jpg

For appetizers we had 2 Pezzi Parmesans and 2 Zucchini Fries and shared them.
IMG_4421_zps69e6cf37.jpg

Pezzi Parmesan

IMG_4420_zps63ad3626.jpg

Zucchini Fries - Breaded ,seasoned with a creamy sun dried tomato dressing for dipping - $7.99
Both of the appetizers were delicious. The zucchini fries were my favorite, but the Pezzi Parmesan was excellent as well. I would order these again.

Dana ordered the Chicken Parmesan.
IMG_4424_zpsd4e53423.jpg

Chicken Parmigiana - Lightly breaded chicken breast with marinara sauce, melted mozzarella over spaghetti. - $16.99
The chicken was moist and well seasoned. The pasta was good, but I like angel hair pasta better. Dana ate little of the pasta as she wanted to save some room for dessert. She said that she would choose this entrée again.

Jeff ordered the Spaghetti and Sweet Italian Sausage.
IMG_4423_zps55d29fb2.jpg

Spaghetti - Spaghetti with choice of meatballs or sweet Italian sausage with marinara sauce. - $16.99
He liked his choice, but he also would have preferred angel hair pasta. Once he tasted my entrée he stated that I had the best entrée.

Billy & I ordered the Cannelloni.
IMG_4422_zps3ec76950.jpg

This entrée was perfect (pasta, meat sauce & bechamel sauce). This was the best entrée of the night. Unfortunately we failed to take a picture of the menu and the description of this entrée is not listed on the Disboard menu list.

When time to order dessert I immediately knew I would be ordering the Pistacio Crème Brulee. By this time Dana had become a fan of crème brulee, so she ordered it as well.
IMG_4425_zps67c3c394.jpg

Pistachio Creme Brulee - Pistachio Creme Brulee - $5.99

Billy ordered the chocolate gelato.
IMG_4426_zps6f5ac95a.jpg

Assorted Gelato - Italian style ice cream. Choice of vanilla or chocolate. - $4.49

Jeff ordered the chocolate cake.
IMG_4427_zps4c9f6d14.jpg

This cake was much better than the one at lunch. It was moist and the icing was rich and chocolaty, but not overly sweet. I do not have the official name of this dessert nor the description, but it was a good chocolate cake with no weird twists (Jeff likes simple desserts.)

This is a lovely restaurant with many great details (including Lady and the Tramp marking the bathroom doors.)
IMG_4417_zps957ecf14.jpg

Our waiter Parviz from Iran was understanding and did not seem at all impatient with us for being a few minutes late. He was friendly and kept our drinks refilled. He paced our meal perfectly. We finished in time to walk across Main Street to our reserved spot for the Main Street Electrical Parade.

Coming up...Breakfast at Cat Cora's Kouzzina's

I really like your review, you makes me hungry.
I have a sweet spot for texan. I spent last fall studying in an exchange program at UT Austin and I fell in love with the state

I am absolutely LOVING your reviews, everywhere you've reviewed so far I plan to eat at.

It's great to see some appetizers too. Generally I don't eat appetizers because a) I have the appetite of a sparrow, and b) I am too tightfisted to pay for them! But we plan to update to DxDP so I'm determined to try lots of new things - I especially liked the look of Spinach & Artichoke dip, zucchini fries and the fried herb and garlic cheese.

Enjoying your reviews! Looking forward to your review of breakfast at Kouzzina, we have it booked! We've had excellent dinners there but never breakfast.

Your plan for dessert at LTT sounds right up my alley! My DH doesn't really like dessert either (not sure what planet he comes from?) but if we do decide to get some I can typically convince him to order my second choice so I can have "two" :rotfl2:.

Oh and we both ADORE pugs. I don't really like dogs on principle but I have a big fat exception in my heart for those little cuties! We cannot wait to move into an apartment that allows pets so we can get one.

I haven't had time to write a dining report today. I've been busy with "real" world stuff like planning my grocery shopping trip, washing clothes and walking the Pugs (don't call them dogs, they think they are small superior humans).

I thought I'd share a few pug pictures.
IMG_7369_zpsa4c242fe.jpg

Silk and Louie showing off their red clothes.

IMG_7455_zpsb7a3edfc.jpg

SILK This is our 8 year old "favorite" child. We have had him since he was 6 weeks old.

IMG_7453_zps674aed38.jpg

LOUIS (Louie to me) Louie is about to turn 4 years old, Louie came into our life just 3 weeks ago, but his royal pugginess has quickly become a member of the family.

I hope to start my next review this evening...if I can get the grocery shopping done and supper cooked. It may take a little pixie dust. pixiedust:

Thanks for sharing your pug photos! We had 2 pugs, too. Sammy is 11 and is snoring next to me as I write. Toby died suddenly in August, at 10 years old. He was my sweetheart. His photo is my avatar. Pugs are such great dogs. I would love to get another, but Sammy is so old, and having issues himself, so a younger dog wouldn't be good for him at this point in his life. Smooches to your pugs!

We enjoyed the Main Street Electrical parade from our reserved seating and then were instructed to follow the cast members at the very end of the parade. We walked with the parade all the way to the hub, where we were given VIP seating to watch Wishes. We sat and watched Wishes and then took a bunch of photos of the park as everything was closing. We were on the very last bus of the night going back to Pop Century. But I think the photos were worth it. Here are two that Jeff took just for our DD19 who is a HUGE fan of Chip.
IMG_5070_zps4224f797.jpg

IMG_5068_zps9bc34f86.jpg

And our last look back at the castle.
IMG_5099_zps60257ba1.jpg

The next morning we had an 8:00 reservation at Kouzzinas. I had called and arranged for a cab to meet us at Pop Century at 7:15am. (This was the time recommended by the cast member at the front desk at Pop Century.) We met our cab at the front of the main building “Classic Hall” right at 7:15am. The cab ride took less than 15 minutes from Pop Century to The Boardwalk. Our fare was $7.10 + tip. (We found this very reasonable.)
IMG_5163_zps2054e301.jpg

We were now at The Boardwalk 30 minutes before our reservation. I had never been to The Boardwalk so I was happy to have a few minutes to explore. We walked through the hotel and out onto the boardwalk to look around. It was a cool morning and we were not rushed, but I wanted a cup of coffee. So…not wanting to ruin our appetite for breakfast…Dana and I headed to The Boardwalk Bakery. They had some wonderful looking items.
IMG_2327_zps56870b1c.jpg

IMG_2326_zpsd8d70db7.jpg

I decided that I would use a snack credit for a cappuccino. It was strong and creamy and worth a snack credit. I strolled out of the Boardwalk Bakery sipping cappuccino and pleased with my purchase. As soon as we arrived back where we had left the guys we were informed that Kouzzinas was ready to seat us, even though it was not quite 8am.
Here is the outside of the restaurant.

I quickly finished my warm cappuccino and went into the restaurant. We were seated in the main room where we could see into the kitchen. I loved being able to watch the chefs at work.
IMG_5154_zpsaddcb7a9.jpg

The olive oil display wall was beautiful, but my photo is missing. We loved the details in the room.
IMG_5149_zpsf5aa62a7.jpg

IMG_5148_zpsf59176d0.jpg

Our waitress was Patricia from Bolivia. She was cheerful (maybe a tad bit to cheerful for this non-morning person) and she did her job very efficiently. Our drinks stayed filled and she was attentive, but not intrusive. The restaurant was only half full the entire time we were there.
IMG_5152_zpseaf3e461.jpg

For drinks Jeff and Billy had cokes. It’s an hour earlier in Florida than Texas and we all needed caffeine. Dana and I ordered the coffee. The coffee was strong and not bitter, but I’m not a big fan of half and half. I much prefer coffee-mate.

Jeff ordered the Waffle with everything on the side.
IMG_5155_zps67aad466.jpg

Classic Golden Waffle - With Whipped Mascarpone Cheese, Honey, chopped Pecans and a choice of Bacon or Chicken Sausage - $10.49
He likes waffles with butter only, but he knew I would want to try the waffle and all the toppings. I really liked the waffle with the creamy mascarpone cheese and the honey. The honey AMAZING! :worship: It was sweet and floral. I could almost see the bees flying through red clover and flowers! :lovestruc He got the bacon and it was thicker cut bacon than regular “Disney” bacon. He enjoyed the bacon and insisted that I try a bite (good, but the chicken sausage was better).

Billy ordered the whole wheat Blueberry Pancakes.
IMG_5156_zps2dd8bd1e.jpg

Blueberry Granola pancakes with a choice of Bacon or Chicken Sausage- $11.99

He stated that he enjoyed these. He said they had a good texture and flavor. I didn’t taste them so I don’t have any firsthand knowledge.

Dana and I both chose the Signature Breakfast.
IMG_5157_zps25cb5d20.jpg

Stacked Kouzzina Breakfast - Two Poached Eggs, Kalamata Olive toast, Artichoke Spread and Sweet potato Hash with choice of Bacon or Chicken Sausage - $11.99
We liked it all. The Olive toast with Artichoke spread was SO good. It was heavily seasoned with dill, but I really liked it. I really expected the Sweet Potato Hash to be my favorite thing of the meal. It was good, but I had been hoping that it would be a little more on the savory side. We both chose the chicken sausage and it was GOOD. It was mild but flavorful. Dana had been concerned that the sausage might be heavy on sage or spices, but it was not. It was tasty without any strong spice to come back and give you indigestion later in the day. One of our poached eggs was cooked perfect and one was slightly overdone. It seemed weird that there was an over done egg on each of our plates.

(Our waitress informed us that we were entitled to two drinks, so Dana, Billy and I all ordered Berry Smoothies to-go at the end of our meal. These were tart and overly sweet at the same time. None of us drank much of the smoothies.)
We finished our meal around 8:45am. We caught a boat to Epcot and entered the park through the International Gateway. Jeff sprinted off to get us Fastpasses for Sourin’ while the rest of us made our way leisurely towards Future World.

Next up…another new experience for our crew lunch at Via Napoli.

The pugs are adorable!!! Very fashion forward!

I love that they have canneloni at Tony's - I've only had the flatbread and the chicken par (meh) so am excited to see some other options that look wonderful. I looked at the menu from when we were there in August and it looks like the chocolate cake is just simply named "chocolate cake layered with chocolate with hazelnut filling" on the menu. (All Ears and the Dis Board need to update their menu.) I also don't see your Pezzi Parmesean on the menu - it looks really good!

As for Kouzzina, I've only been once for breakfast but will definitely return so I can get the waffles. I had the skillet breakfast and it was good but I wasn't a sweet potato hash fan.

How awesome that you scored such a great viewing location under VIP viewing for Wishes! :)

We spent our morning riding Sourin’, Living with the Land, Imagination with Figment, The Living Seas with Nemo and Friends & Spaceship Earth. The lines were short (10 – 15 minutes) for everything but Sourin’. We caught the Friendship and rode (another boat) over to Germany. It was a short walk to Via Napoli for our Noon reservation. We arrived with time to spare. We found street performers waiting to entertain us.
IMG_5385_zps9d47ffc9.jpg

We watched a couple of minutes and then went to check in for our lunch.

IMG_5389_zpscd972a56.jpg

IMG_5390_zps188bbe14.jpg

We love Italian food and were looking forward to this meal. This was new to all of us. We checked in and had a short (10 minute) wait will they called our name.
IMG_5394_zpsfa97335a.jpg

We soaked up the atmosphere while we waited.
IMG_5406_zpscda2b17a.jpg

IMG_5405_zpse3f7559f.jpg

IMG_5404_zps8f0a91bd.jpg

IMG_5393_zps6b7403c4.jpg

We were seated in the side room to the right that looks out onto the Italian courtyard area. We were sitting against the wall, but this room is light and airy and offers a good view if you enjoy people watching.

Our waiter was Renato (I am not sure of his origin). He took our drink orders and we were brought bread and olive oil. The bread and olive oil were very good. I like bread. I’ve been known to fill up on bread and then eat almost none of my meal. I curbed myself because I was looking forward to meal that I had been drooling over on the boards for months.
IMG_5395_zps7907737c.jpg

For drinks we ordered our usual, 2 Cokes, 1 tea, and 1 Diet Coke with Lime. We placed our orders for appetizers and entrees. We waited a long time between every course. I don’t know if the problem was the kitchen of our server not knowing how to properly pace the meal. We never went without drinks and waitstaff checked on us often, but our meal took almost 2 hours (much of the time we were waiting). It’s a good thing that we enjoy each others company.

I’ve been eying the Arancini for so many months that I knew I wanted to try this. Dana wanted to try the Arancini or the Fritto di Verdura. We decided to order both and share them.
IMG_5398_zpsd6026b59.jpg

Fritto di Verdura - Crisp fried vegetables, marinara piccante - $7.00
The Fritto di Vendura was nothing special. There were pieces of eggplant, asparagus, zucchini, and mushroom all battered and fried. The batter was bland. The marinara was good, but the vegetables lacked seasoning. These weren’t awful, but they were not something either of us would want to order again.

IMG_5397_zpseb0831ee.jpg

Arancini - Fried saffron risotto balls filled with mozzarella and meat ragu - $10.00
The Arancini was exactly what I was expecting. I loved the meat ragu. This appetizer is excellent and I highly recommend it. Dana & I both agreed that it was the best of the two and we should have just ordered two of the Arancini.

Both Jeff and Billy ordered the Salami e Provolone.
IMG_5396_zps813bda73.jpg

Salami e Provolone - Dry cured sausage, imported provolone cheese - $9.00
They both liked this. It was tasty and very rich. Neither finished their appetizer. Good for Dana and I, because we both got to taste their appetizer as well. I liked this much better than the Fritto di Vendura. The meat was well seasoned but not too strong. The cheese was a good quality Provolone. The olive and pepper on the plate received raves from Dana & I, thank goodness the guys did not want them! :cool1: They missed out on the best part of their appetizer!!

Entrée time! This is where the meal went downhill.

Jeff ordered the Piccante Pizza.
IMG_5399_zpsc7eb810e.jpg

Wood Fired Authentic Pizza Napoletana - Piccante. Italian Spicy Sausage, sauce, mozzarella.
There was nothing spicy about the sausage. The pizza was bland and the crust needed to be cooked longer.

Billy ordered the Capricciosa (according to our receipt) with no mushrooms.
IMG_5400_zpsb44e9d27.jpg

I don’t find this pizza listed, but I know his had Sauce, Cheese, Eggplant, artichokes, and prosciutto.
He stated that the pizza was soggy and under cooked. The vegetables on top of the pizza were undercooked. This pizza was definitely a loser.

Dana and I again decided to share meals in order to taste more than one entrée. I ordered the Lasagna Verde.
IMG_5401_zpsed2c7e98.jpg

Lasagna Verde - Spinach, parmesan, Besciamella - $20.00
This was a beautiful looking dish, but it was bland and had no real taste. The lasagna just had no flavor. It was also not very hot. I have to wonder if our entrees had been sitting around somewhere.

Dana ordered the Candele.
IMG_5402_zpsef575ace.jpg

Candele - Candle stick pasta, sausage Ragu, Polpettine, mozzarella, Ricotta - $23.00
This might have been okay, but after having the wonderful Cannelloni from Tony’s the night before, it just did not measure up. Of the entrees it was the best, but that is not saying much.

After another VERY long wait, we were finally brought our desserts. The desserts were as good as the entrees were bad.

Jeff ordered the chocolate gelato.
IMG_5407_zps82bc46d0.jpg

Gelati E. Sorbetto - Vanilla, chocolate, pistachio, lemon sorbet - $7.00
It was good. He enjoyed it. I tasted it and it was what gelato is meant to be, rich creamy and satisfying.

Billy ordered the Coppa Di Brutti Ma Buoni.
IMG_5408_zpsf15bd3ef.jpg

Coppa Di Brutti Ma Buoni - Ugly, but good. Amarena cherry and vanilla gelato sundae with ugly, but good cookies of carnevale - $10.00
I’m so glad he did. It was very good. Not sure why they call it ugly, that Amerena cherry was a thing of beauty. I would consider ordering it, if i give this restaurant another chance.

Dana ordered the pistachio gelato.
IMG_5410_zps91473b92.jpg

Gelati E. Sorbetto - Vanilla, chocolate, pistachio, lemon sorbet - $7.00
I tried this and found it to be delightful!

I again knew what I wanted to try. The Zeppole Di Catarina was my choice!
IMG_5411_zps5440b44b.jpg

Zeppole Di Catarina - Ricotta Cheese Fritters, served with whipped cream, chocolate sauce - $10.00
These were as good as they looked! The chocolate sauce was rich and not overly sweet. We liked these. They were satisfying.

If the entrees had been as good as the entrees and desserts, we would have left Via Napoli extremely satisfied. The slow service would have been over looked if the entrees had not been so mediocre. This was by far the worst meal of the trip.

We will not be returning to this restaurant on our next trip! I would consider going just for coffee and dessert, but not for a full meal.

Next…a long time favorite Le Cellier.

These are probably the best dining reviews i have read. Thank you for sharing!

Spoiler alert: For this review, in the spirit of culinary purity would I eat a BUG?!? Well....maybe it wasnt a BUG! But it might as well have been a BUG! (Keep reading to hear more about my culinary horror!) :scared1:

We made our way around to Canada for our 6pm reservation at Le Cellier.
IMG_5514_zps4e40986c.jpg

IMG_5517_zps8a1d4834.jpg

IMG_5518_zps01eb56ae.jpg

This is the first time we have eaten here since it became a signature dining experience. We arrived a few minutes early and checked in. They asked us to have a seat. Our wait was less than 10 minutes.
IMG_5520_zpsa57cd9b6.jpg

Hidden Mickey in the wine rack.

IMG_5522_zps6f031501.jpg

We were seated in the Prince Edward island section. Half our table was a bench & half chairs. This suited us fine. Our waitress was Lacey from Thunder Bay, Ontario. She was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the menu items. We are all creatures of habit, so again we had sweet tea, diet coke with lime, and 2 cokes. They brought us a basket of their wonderful breads. (Remember I LOVE bread & especially Pretzel bread.) We tried all the breads, but Pretzel bread was the over all favorite.
IMG_5524_zps7c721e63.jpg

Jeff ordered the Scallops.
IMG_5526_zpsd67c8b50.jpg

Seared Scallops - With Cannellini bean puree, smoked bacon, spring garlic and chanterelle mushrooms - $14.00
He states these were excellent. He only ate the scallops, but I ate the few chanterelle mushrooms which were small earthy tasty morsels. The bite of scallop that he let me try was sweet and perfectly cooked.

Billy ordered the famous Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup.
IMG_5525_zpsb8581311.jpg

Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup - Made with Moosehead Beer and smoked bacon. Cup $5.49 or bowl $6.99. - $9.00
He like this soup and ate almost the whole bowl. I have had this in the past and I just really dont care for it. (I know this is sacrilege to many Le Cellier fans, but it just isnt to my taste.) I like pretzel bread dipped in it, but not a whole cup or bowl just to eat.

Dana and I both ordered the Artisan Cheeses.
IMG_5527_zps77565f19.jpg

Assortment of Artisan Cheese - Accompanied with Chef Selection of dried fruit and preserves - $14.00
And now I find myself facing a beautiful plate of cheeses. But what is that on the plate accompanying my cheese&my one real HATED food a RAISIN! I would rather eat a bug than a raisin. Now I know that the chef intends for me to eat my cheese with their accompaniments to enhance their flavors (I watched Remy in Ratatouille after all), but would I eat a bug in order to write a complete report? I started off with the milder cheeses in order to put off the decision.
Beginning on the left is the the Petit Agour. This cheese was firmer than the rest and paired nicely with the fig almond cake. We liked it.
Next we moved on to Beechers Flagship Reserve Truckle- This cheese was good. It was Danas favorite. The combination with the Pear Jam was very pleasing to the palate.
Then the Woolwich Goat Brie- This cheese was a little sharper and Dana did not care for it. I tried the cheese alone first and found it to be quite tasty, but combined with the sweet honeycomb it was heavenly! Creamy smooth, Sweet and only slightly sharp. It was one of my all time favorite food combinations.
And now we came to the decision BUG OR no BUG (I mean raisin). Smokey Oregon Blue paired with BUGS (I mean Raisins) on the vine. Blue cheese is one of the top cheeses in my book, so I first tried a taste of this cheese unaccompanied. I made up my mind that the chef had presented this cheese pairing because he felt it added something to the experience so I took a bite of blue cheese and BUG (I mean raisin) so that I could describe it fairly. I have to say that the flavor of the BUG lightened the sharpness of the blue cheese, but the texture of this was off putting to me (chewy and squishy all at the same time? Maybe it was really a BUG!) I did eat all the blue cheese, but left the rest of the Raisins on the vine sitting on my plate.

We have now been filling up on bread and appetizers, but we were not about to let that stop us from enjoying our entrees.
Jeff and Billy both ordered the New York Strip.

Canadian Prime New York Strip Steak (Picture) - 12 oz. Strip steak with Gruyere-yukon gold potato gratin, wilted spinach and Vin Rouge reduction - $44.00
The steak was good. They both ate all their steaks. The potato gratin was not really to their liking, but they were more interested in the steak than the potatoes anyway. The wilted spinach went untouched.

Dana and I both ordered the Filet.

Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon - Served with wild mushroom risotto and white truffle-herb butter sauce. - $43.00
I have had this several times, but I had always substituted the mash potatoes as I am not a big fan of risotto. This time I did not have the option of the mash potatoes so I decided to order it the way the chef intended. I was glad I did as I enjoyed the risotto. (But if I had the option, Id still order the mashed potatoes.) Dana loved the risotto and filled up on it over her steak. She only ate a few bites of the steak, but said that it was tender and tasty. I enjoyed my steak, but had to leave about a third of it on my plate in order to have room for dessert. The risotto was so good that Dana and I have been combing recipe books for the recipe. (If anyone has a copy PLEASE share!)

Jeff and Billy both ordered the Trio of Chocolates.

Trio of Chocolate- Chocolate Nanaimo Bar, Chocolate Sorbet, and Chocolate Lava cake- $10.00
Jeff states that he does not remember anything about this dessert. (I do remember eating some of this, it just wasn't memorable. Probably should have talked them into the Chocolate Moose. -jeff) This dessert looks beautiful, but I was too busy enjoying my dessert and tasting Danas dessert to pay any real attention to this.

Dana ordered the Summer Melon and Cucumber Sorbet.

Summer Melon and Cucumber Sorbet- Cucumber, Micro Mint, and Sea Salt $8.00. (Billy's Trio of chocolate is behind her dessert)
This dessert was light and refreshing. I would love eating this on a hot summers afternoon. The sea salt made all the difference. It brightened the flavors and brought the dessert to life. I need this to cleanse my palate after eating the BUG!

Once again I knew exactly what dessert I was eating! Maple Crème Brulee!!!

Maple creme brulee. - $8.00
This is the perfect crème brulee! I have dreamed about this dessert! It was utter perfection. Dana agreed with me. Prior to this trip Dana had never had crème brulee, but she is now a convert to the joys of crème brulee!

This was a perfect dinner! We finished in time to walk out of the restaurant and find a spot to watch Illuminations!

We were all tired, and both Dana and Billy were experiencing leg pain. Instead of walking all the way to the front of the park and then taking a bus to Pop Century, we decided to cheat. We walked to the International Gateway. Took a boat back to the Boardwalk and caught a cab back to Pop Century. The expense of the cab was worth it. We were back in or rooms before we would have made it to the bus stop.

Next up...Tusker House breakfast. Will I eat another BUG?
