Ticket dilemma- HELP

So, I bought an AP in May before the price increase, thinking I was doing a good thing financially. Never thought they would then offer this awesome discount.

I haven't activated the current pass and can't upgrade since we won't be in the park until June 2013.

So, my dilemma is this.

We plan on going June and October 2013, March 2014. Then take a break until 2015 or 2016.

I spent $446 for that ticket and really don't want to just hold onto it for 4 years.

So we have 3 options:
1) Buy 3 PAP's and have one of us only have a regular, which means one of us can't do the water parks or other features of the PAP, like golf.
2) or BUY 4 PAP's and hold on to that ticket for 4 years...
3) Just buy 3 more regular AP's and call it a day (which doesn't make sense since they are more expensive). But we had not budgeted to do all of this right now. We planned on racking up rewards points between now and June and covering as much as we could with that.

HELP!!! I am just so stinking aggravated that this can't be handled over the phone!!!

I'd go with option 2, but you said you don't want to do that (keep the AP voucher for so long).

As stated in the other threads, there are valid reasons why you can't do some ticketing transactions over the phone and not every promotion is working out for every person every time. I'm not going to Disney at all for the rest of the year or in 2013 that I know of, so I don't get to participate in the PAP offer at all.

Keeping the AP voucher you have until some point in the future will just continue to add to your savings as prices will continue to increase.

Option 3 makes no sense at all. You're just spending an extra ~$150 that way.

I would pick between Options 1 and 2 based on whether or not you think you'd enjoy visiting the water parks. If so, then the question is whether you will miss the $400 you have to pay for the fourth PAP. Unless you are really living on the edge financially, I'd go with Option 2. You can always use reward points to pay for other things during those three trips (e.g. food).

I know option 2 makes the mat sense but wasn't planning on spending $1600 right now....we have to pay off a lease, Christmas, was planning on going to Chicago...

Plus I'm worried on where our life will be in four years..our kids will be 6,8,10. What if we can't get the max use of annual passes or if they are sick of Disney....they will be in school so going 2 or 3 times might not be feasible then...

If so, that might be the way to go - you were obviously planning on buying some kind of passes before June anyway, so buy them now and take advantage of a 0% offer to pay them off closer to when you would have anyways.

The VISA offer is only for packages.

Depending on the length of your June and Oct trips, you may want to go to the water parks on those visits at least once. March can be a little hit or miss on the weather. With the exception of your oldest, your kids are at an age that the water parks may not be something they really can get much our of anyway, so one day on each trip may be enough. The feature pools at the resorts are more the speed of kids that age.

Since the current PAP offer is lower than the cost of an AP, I would suggest buying 3 PAP and using the AP you already have. If you decide to go to one of the water parks for a day each trip, just buy an a la carte water park ticket using your DVC discount for the person with the regular AP.

Great minds think alike! I had just thought of that. What is the price of the water park? I think we would go once just to check it out.

If the PAP deal works for you then buy it and hold on to your existing vouchers for an added cost savings.

Take a look at the PAP and make sure that you will get full use of it's benefits including it's time restrictions. Some are buying because of the hype and forcing themselves to take an extra vacation just to use the PAP. Pretty smart of Disney isn't it!

It might be worth your while to inquire when you pick up your PAPs to see if your voucher can be "upgraded" to a PAP. As long as the voucher/ticket hasn't been used ,( or maybe within 7 days of being activated) I believe a ticket can be upgraded to another ticket type.
