How many Disney rooms are on hold?

We're trying to book a quick trip November 9-11, which I knew would be busy because of Food and Wine and the Wine & Dine Half Marathon. However, I am surprised to find that every single room is booked! However, if search for a room using hotels.com or another outside source, it will show me that rooms are available at a few Disney property hotels. Is this because Disney allows these outside sources to hold rooms? What other outside sources should I check for a Disney room?

How very strange??? I went and played with your dates and WOW everything is full. I might call reservations and see if they can get you something.

Have you tried calling WDW directly? All rooms may not have loaded properly in the website.

Sunday, November 11 seemed to be the no availability day when I was running things last week. I'm wondering if Disney is holding inventory for the AP Preview days on November 10 & 11. If so, that registration is Monday, October 8. I spoke to a couple of different CMs trying to book that weekend and they didn't have much of anything available.

Maybe try next Tuesday to see if anything opens up. I'm sure the phone lines will be jammed on Monday afternoon.

There are 3 large conventions going on during that time. One of them is a large company (can't remember the name, not a U.S. company) that books this same time every year and takes up almost all of the rooms at the Swan & Dolphin, and the overflow (if any) goes to BC, YC, and BWI. The other 2 conventions are taking up a lot of the rest of the room inventory, in addition to guests who already had that week booked.

Travel agencies have their own inventory of rooms. If you see what you need at hotels.com, etc, book it!

It's also a holiday weekend so I bet there are a lot of people going for the long weekend.

I think you may find when you actually try to book the room at hotel.com it will not be avialable.

Thanks everyone for your input. I'm going to call today - we're FL residents and passholders and we're hoping to be able to get in on one of those previews, so maybe if I keep calling they can find something for me.

All the solo trips I took and I never even thought to duck my head in and give them away. I will definately do that next solo trip I take for sure. Next time, we will have a teenager with us that will love doing the arcade thing; hopefully someone will throw some our way!

Booking engines like Expedia buy blocks of rooms, so they can sometimes offer what Disney can't. Just be careful--their cancellation policies are pretty harsh. I'll rent a car through these services but I won't trust an expensive Disney reservation to one of them.
