Seriously, you spend 1:42 complaining about food gifts somebody gave because it contained sugar and/or sorbitol?

There has been some rants over the years about how all of this on wdwinfo.com is given away for free (except, you know, the ads...), along with the podcast, etc, and how people should appreciate it more (usually involving donating money to charities) but then you go on and on about the fact that somebody shipped you some sugar & sugar free candy?

...Seriously?

It was a joke. Lighten up.

And you don't pay for the ads...in fact you don't pay anything to be here. So yeah, I'll use the platform to raise money for charity and if you have a problem with that, then go somewhere else.

OP, I Hhaven't listened yet but maybe your humour dial is off a bit?

Also what a lame argument re: advertising. Why don't you think up a new type of model and run with that? Poor Pete...guy can't win no matter what......this kind of stuff leads down the road to him throwing his hands up and screaming "No More" and pulling the plug. Save it for your diary.

I must have missed the humor, sorry. :confused3

In reality, I've got no problem with the ads (obviously the site has to try to be self sufficient), or asking to give to charity (nothing wrong with that).

I just felt it was a little weird that in a span of ten minutes it went from "give to the Down Syndrome Association charity to show your appreciation of Corey (and family) for the work he does on this site" to "thanks for the snacks that's going to give us diarrhea."

You don't see the humour there?

That's a hilarious line....wow.

Anyone that has listened to the show for any amount of time would already know the sense of humor the Pete and the podcast team have. I took it for what it was, laughs....

And, anyone who has listened for any amount of time would know how generous and kind hearted the entire podcast team is, especially Pete. Seriously, OP, hit fast forward if you're not happy.

If you have no problem with ads or donations.......why take the time to bring it up in the first place?

If you disagree with someone's point of view or miss a joke, including someone's charity work in the criticism is not right. Even though you may have mistook Pete's joke as a complaint or anger, it had nothing to do with the charities that the DIS supports. There was no reason to mention the charity work.

Everyone who knows me knows how important Pete, Kevin, and the entire team are to me. I do everything I can to support the Power of 10 and the Step Up Walk. If I can help the podcast team in any way.....I will be there for them. On October 13th, I am going to walk/roll for Ferris.

Some people may disagree with me about Advanced Dining Reservations or Segways.....that is fine. My hope would be that I am never criticized for asking people to support my fundraising efforts.

Even if you misunderstood the joke.....the joke and the gift basket was totally unrelated to the charity work. The DIS Unplugged has had many many "poop references" over the years. That should not overshadow their generosity!!!!

You can't get a better deal then disboards dis unplugged podcast. Where else you going to fin a great bunch of people who put together a great show for free. I listen to Pete and the gang about anything they want to talk about I you don't like listening to a little bit about charity's then don't listen Pete not coming around making anyone listen. I would pay to listen to the show I rather hear about a charity ten watch a tv show with commercial to place I have no interest in spending money. Pete thanks again for giving us all this web sites show and much much more.

Ps
Please say hi to Walter I miss hearing him on the show. I know he busy with other things and doesn't owe us anything but may be he could make a guest appearance on another show in the future. The shows are great with everyone but there something seems to be missing when Walter not their.

This! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I missed ya, too, Walter! It's almost time for my annual replaying of the 'Spooktacular' podcast. A personal fave. :cool1:

I was trying to speak about the dichotomy between Pete asking that since this is all free that people show some respect to Corey and ask to donate in one breath, and in the next complain about a gift that a couple either sent them in the mail, or handed to Kathy (or was it Teresa?) during the GKTW event in Massachusetts.

I'm not complaining about asking for donations. I'm not complaining about the ads. I AM complaining about what I thought was a rather rude reaction to a gift given by a listener.

Again, I obviously missed the joke. I've listened to the show for three years; I get the humor. I just didn't see it in this instance. It wasn't funny. I didn't take it as a joke. Apparently everybody else did. So, whatever, my bad.

walter back this should be the title of this thread great podcast guys and walter is back. Life is great right now a rant from walter omg he is always so calm this is the best part of the show.

OP, while I was listening to the podcast, I originally thought Pete was serious...but then I realized what he was saying. YES, the candy is full of sugar, and the sugar-free variety is full of bad stuff too. But he was eating it anyway, because it is delicious!!! I've been listening to the show for a while now...every episode...every week. I guess I just know Pete's humor, and I know when he's making a joke, which was certainly the case here. The complaint is supposed to sound serious because it sets up the joke.

I have been listening to the show for a long time now and I don't think Pete would ever intentionally say or do anything to hurt anyone's feelings. My family and I had the pleasure of meeting Pete at the GKTW meet in Virginia last year and he was as gracious and accommodating in person as he is on the show. Keep up the good work you do Pete!

Yeah, Pete has a sarcastic sense of humor. Personally, I understood it as a joke...but I could see how someone might misinterpret it. No big deal.

I listened to it yesterday, and if you didn't know the parties involved, it did come of as harsh...but I know both sides and Pete was teasing...
