Just got back last night from our 7 night stay. We had requested Cabanas 9b if possible via calling the wdw phone number and did online check-in. When we arrived at 3:30 and our room was not ready yet so they selected another room for us in Ranchos 7a, changed from originally being Ranchos 6b. Basically as far as you could get from the main building. I explained I understand a request is just that, but I do not want to be in Ranchos with 2 young kids who want to use the pool, and we are planning on going to the main building for breakfast and snacks. I was informed that because we were staying "for so long" it was hard to find us a room anywhere else. They said they would continue looking, but Ranchos isn't bad, I can take any bus to stop 1 vs. walking. With two kids and 2 strollers that really didn't sound any better than walking...

As soon as bell service left our room the front desk called and told us they had a room in Casitas 5, I changed the kids into their suits and sent them and my husband to the pool. I then changed as well and hiked over to the main building. I got there and they took my old keys and asked if I needed them. I asked, "Bell service can pick everything up right? I don't need to be there?" Nope, just tell them from where to where. So I headed over to bell where I was informed, no, I had to be at the room for them to pick up. By now it's after 4, I've been up since 7 with a couple of hours of sleep, traveling all day, and I just wanted to have some pool time with my kids before we headed to MBYBBQ; I started crying. Manny the very nice Bell desk operator took pity on me and sent me to the pool with my kids and handled the luggage. I will be writing a letter to Disney about him in just a bit, he really went out of his way, and it's not his fault the front desk misinformed me.

Casitas 5 was nice, first floor which was a huge plus. 1st bus stop on and first off, another huge plus. The buses came often and were rarely full other than peak times, which is expected. The beds and pillows were very comfortable, and we had no problem with the bed rails supplied. The room was clean, housekeeping was in and out with plenty of towels, coffee pods, and toiletries. The room was well maintained, and I had no problem with the A/C; we like it cold so that was a plus!

My 4 year old LOVED the dig site. She rode the slide over and over again, both kids played in the playground, and my 2 year old loved the kiddie pool. The pool bar does close pretty early, but the pool stays open. Plenty of chairs, life vests, and towels for everyone. The lifeguards around the slide were very attentive, and did an amazing job.

Overall I thought the hotel was pretty, and had plenty of pros, but with 2 small kids it seemed more spread out than I like. I know I can book a preferred room to be closer, but I would rather spend more money and have more of what I want. Truth be told we were in Epcot and MK so much that next trip I will look into a deluxe resort on the monorail. For the extra money I think we'll find some more conveniences that would make the trip that much better. Especially if FP+ becomes part of that deal, we did the trial for a day and were able to accomplish so much.

We had a great vacation and I have nothing really bad to say about Coronado, but with so many options I think this hotel is not the one for us.

Just returned from a stay at the world from 9/22-9/29. Cast included me (33), DH (34), DS (3) and DS (8 months).

ME was really smooth. We waited for about 15 minutes before boarding our bus and leaving. The whole process took less than 1.5 hours (keep in mind we were travelling with two little ones…so everything takes longer!).

We booked a preferred room at CSR, so I knew I would be in Casitas 1, 2 or 3. The only request I made was for ground floor. We ended up in room 3178. I loved the location. It was at the far end of building 3, so it was really close to the quiet pool (which we didn’t use but could see from our room), bus stop 2 (the first to be picked up) and El Centro. The Dig Site was about a 5-10 minute walk, but nothing too far.

I really liked the look of the Casitas area. I took a walk around the resort, and while I see the appeal in location of cabanas, the area didn’t appeal to be visually. If I wasn’t a coffee/soda drinker and didn’t need to go to El Centro daily, I would go for Ranchos. I know I’m in the minority here, but I thought the theming was well done.

We had Caesar wraps from Café Rix when we arrived. They were okay, nothing fabulous. We ate dinner at Pepper Market twice. I had the nachos (decent) and pizza (pretty good) and DH had the beef fajitas (fine) and the beef burrito (not a fan). We also had one breakfast buffet. We enjoyed breakfast as they had a good variety of food. Nothing out of the ordinary, but they were serving Mickey waffles the day we were there. I found service to be okay. Of course it isn’t quite at the same standard as typical Disney service. The “tips” can only be paid in cash at dinner (not via room charge), but can be added to your room charge for breakfast and lunch.

Bus service was always good. I don’t think we ever waited more than 5 minutes for a bus to the parks. My only complaint about CSR came on our last day when we needed to check out luggage for ME and return our rental stroller. Our ME time was 11:15 and we arrived at 10:15 to find a huge line. It took every bit of the hour to get to the front of the line. Not the best way to end our vacation!

Let me know if you have any questions!

We leave in just 17 days! I was just wondering what the toiletries are like, specifically if they provide shower gel. Thanks!

Yes, there is shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and lotion. I believe we received two bottles of each to start off. Ran into mousekeeping one day and they asked if we needed more, so they have no problem leaving more if needed.

Have a great stay!

Were the shampoo and conditioner separate bottles or a 2 in 1?

Only 66 days until our very first Christmas trip and first time at CSR in over two years.

My wife and I are planning a dinner out without kids (DD8, DD10) one night while we are there. Is there an on-site program for them or do you need an off-site service? Thank you!

Long time reader first time poster. I have been reading on this thread for days. I appreciate all your help. It may be too late to do some of this stuff...as I understand my roon may already be assigned.

3 of us (me, wife, son-14) have reservations begining on Thursday for 3 nights at CSR. I have reserved a "waterview". My wife had bad knees (one replaced and the other scheduled for later this year). We will be driving so bus stops are not a big deal.

We want to be close to El Centro so I guess I should call and request something close to El Centro and parking lot?

Is it too late to call?

ground floor?

someplace easy for a ECV if I can get her to try one?

Sorry for all the questions all at once.....time is running out!

Thanks

If you call to have it put on your reservation, it's not too late (but I'd do it today). Without getting a preferred room, the closest building to El Centro is Cabanas 9B, then 9A. 9A backs up to a parking lot, so that might be a good choice. You can definitely request 1st floor.

When you check in, if you find your requests weren't met, you can always ask to be moved and explain why. I'm sure they will be very accommodating.

Have a wonderful trip!

My sister and sister-in-law and I are participating in the Princess Half Marathon in February and I'm trying to decide where to stay. Obviously, LOVE CSR. But I know that big-humongo-convention is sometime around February and wouldn't want to be there for that. What's the name of that company? Any idea when that convention is running next year? I checked Page 1 of the thread and it's not on the list yet.

Thanks!

Their convention went into March this year. I'm not sure when it started, but I was thankful we arrived a couple days after they left. From what I understand they are the only group that truly has a negative affect on the whole of CSR. We did see a couple of stages the first day that were torn down by the next night.

I think I would pick another resort if you know you will be there at the same time as the Grainger convention.

Nothing onsite. I think only the Deluxes have those. We did send the kids to the one at the GF the one time we went to Victoria & Albert's, so depending on where you are eating, there may be one available (you don't have to be staying at the resort to use them).

Thanks for letting me know about the shower gel...one less thing to pack!!

I have another question: does Coronado have the Gold Peak tea dispenser?
