RIP Thread

On the web I watched a series of 4 interviews with Neil (about 20 minutes each) with, of all things, someone representing an accounting organization from Australia. It seemed like it was filmed fairly recently and since he rarely gave interviews it was fascinating to watch.

The best part to me was when the interview used Google Moon (similar to Google Earth) to recreate the Eagle's descent to the lunar surface and Neil narrated what they saw, what they were doing inside the LM, and why he had to take evasive action at the last moment.

It reminds me that while it's easy to think of our monuments as objects like The Grand Canyon, The Lincoln Memorial, or the new office building going up at the World Trade Center site, some of our most significant monuments are a few people who deserve the title, "hero".

Rest in Peace, Neil.

Andy made me proud to wear Christmas Sweaters! He will be missed.

OK, so maybe some of you won't know this name.
However, I have been a 'Motorhead' since I was 8 years old. I am proud to admit that I just turned 56.
Chris Economaki has passed at the age of 91. He is the father of Motorsports journalism.
I learned a lot from reading his work.

RIP Andy: We saw his christmas show in Branson in 2007, could tell the age in his voice but still was glad we went.

RIP Chris Economaki: Didn't he publish or report for Speedsport News?

Beano Cook, the ESPN/ABC commentator, passed away today. He had most recently been doing the College Football podcasts weekly on ESPN with Ivan Maizel.

Beano's memory was amazing regarding college football events, people, and television. To me and my generation, he was a bridge between the old time days and the game today. So okay, his predictions for the Heisman winner or the National Champ weren't often correct, but he was a great ambassador for the game.

Thanks Beano and we'll miss you! :happytv:
