August 24th, 2013 - A Magical Med Cruise

Yes, the first time I flew Easyjet I was panicking like mad that we would not be able to sit together. There was only me and my 2 boys travelling and i was convinced me and the lo would be in one place and the older one would be sat by himself. However they have a policy that people with kids under 6 will be sat together so I didn't need to pay extra for seat allocation. You do have to pay per bag for luggage but this is cheaper (though not cheap!) in advance. Like Maskesa I have now travelled with them several times and would do again. In fact last Disney Cruise we flew home on BA, mum flew Easyjet.... Guess who had all the problems!!!! It wasn't her!

Thank you both this is very reassuring! I guess I can come back and add luggage as I don't have any idea how much I will pack but my plan is to pack only carryons. In the states each person is allowed one 21 inch suitcase and a personal bag such as a backpack. It's my understanding that on easy jet each person is allowed 20kg. So if my each person's bag meets that weight requirement do I just then pay for our extra bags?

From the easyjet website.
Each passenger may carry*one item of hand baggage/ carry on only, measuring a*maximum 56 x 45 x 25cm*(including wheels, pockets and handles).

This means…

…one laptop case, or
…one brief case, or
…one handbag/bumbag, or
…one rucksack, or
…one carrier bag, or
...one wedding dress

No weight restriction applies*however you must be able to place and retrieve the item of baggage safely in the overhead lockers without assistance. Small items must be placed underneath the seat in front

An overcoat, shawl, umbrella, crutches or walking frame/stick*and one standardised*bag of goods purchased*at the departure airport may also be carried in addition to the one item allowance.

You will have to pay extra for every 20 kg of luggage you check in. I would advise you to book your luggage at time of booking. I have a feeling you will pay extra if you amend your booking. EG Adding luggage at a later date.

Welcome Becky. Did your boys do the fish extender last time you cruised?
Maskesa, just thought I would let you know that I got an email from easyjet today saying flights had been released BUT when I went to book they seemed really expensive!! I have just booked BA instead for £250 cheaper than EJ (total for 5). I was really annoyed with myself bc flights with BA have been out for a while and I didn't even think to check bc I presumed EJ would be far cheaper!!! Still I have now booked so am feeling quite excited! I'm now panicking that I haven't left enough time to get to the airport for my flight after the cruise!!! :confused3

Thanks Liberty. I will take a look.at flights and see what prices I come up with.
What time are your flights pre and post cruise ?

I'd better get a move on and book the flights, probably going out a day or two before the cruise starts - this is what we did for this cruise last year.
Last year to stayed at the Novotel Barcelona City, so will probably book that again as it was nice.

I am flying in 2 days before cruise. Am looking at apartment hotels in barcelona bc there are 5 of us. Our flight back is 1.pm but we flew home early last time so ive no idea how much time to allow. Looked on here and ppl seem to be saying any time after half 12 so should be ok!, have been looking on ebay for pirate outfits today!!

Last time we had to wait ages for our taxi to come and collect us from the port (it was one hour late, booked for 09:30 came at 10:30).
Last year we stayed an extra day after the cruise. The flights on the Sunday were also a little later than on the Saturday.

Hey, we didnt do FE last time as it was our first cruise and were unsure of what it was (and we still are unsure).
We are from the UK too and I'm looking for flights but am unsure of who to fly with. We have only done long haul to Florida usually with Virgin. BA are looking cheapest at the mo! Anyone any ideas or tips.
Becky:)

Fish Extender is awesome!! Your boys are just at the right age to appreciate it! I will try and find a link that explains it but it is basically like a secret Santa type thing. Honestly your kids will love it!
As for flights, I have just booked mine and BA came out the cheapest by a long way. I wasn't expecting them to but that is definitely the way it worked out. I don't think it matters too much who you fly with as it is such a short flight ( I'm the same, usually long haul to one side of the States or the other then I am a bit more choosy!) but I have to admit the fact that everything was included and no extra bag costs or anything was nice. However last time we did the med cruise (2 years ago) I flew back on BA and it was awful!!! Lol I am hoping that we were just unlucky!!!

We are flying from up north, but half the flights we have to change in London! Cant decide :confused3
Does anyone have any idea when Disney will be putting up what port adventures they will be doing next year. I know we cant book them yet but just wanted a nosey.

Hi all, just joining in, :wave2::wave2: We are first time cruisers and very much looking forward to it. Would be interested in FE info if anyone wants to put up with us. 2 adults and 3 kids (11, 13, 15) at time of travel.

Yay!! Definitely , the more the merrier :) I have been trawling the FE boards - some of the things people have swapped are amazing!

Hi,

I am in the UK and think I will be on this cruise with my sister and her DD3 (nearly 4). Very excited, a girls only holiday, cant wait to see it through my nieces eyes

Trying to work out the best way to book. Considered using DVC points for at least one adult, booking with DU or this afternoon i found that Virgin holidays are booking for this - although it has disappeared from their website from looking at lunch time to this evening. Hopefully it is just a blip!

Hi all - just realised I haven't joined this thread!!:lmao: we are booked on this cruise and the one on 31st aug and I've been on that thread since the beginning and just came on here to see why this one is so quiet and it turns out that I never joined it in the first place!!:rolleyes1

Anyway.. We are a family of four - myself (Amy), Dh (Steve) and two boys - Kai (who will be 9 when we travel) and Lucas (who will be 6):thumbsup2

I hadn't planned on doing the FE exchange this time, but Lucas is already talking about the little packages we deliver and receive, I think he thinks it's automatically part of the cruise!! So I don't know if anyone is planning a FE exchange but we would be interested?:thumbsup2

This does seem like a very quiet thread! Glad you are coming though :) my boys are similar ages to yours (will be 5 and 9) and I know they think he FE is part of the included cruise experience!! They think it is just a Disney cruise 'thing' and don't expect it on other boats though! If no one else wants to do it I will happily organise the FE , prob not til after Christmas though!! I am currently planning an exciting way to tell my boys about the cruise as it is part of their Xmas present!

Hi all, we have changed our cruise date. We are going the following week. Hope you all have a great time :)
