Walk in Walt's Footsteps Tour

I'm planning on doing this is January. Thanks for the info- sounds awesome.

I called Disney yesterday - they said that this tour is quite popular. However, when I asked them to check the availability of the week I will be there (3rd week of October) was pretty open.

Either way, I will be calling first thing tomorrow to book it for October 20th. The rep said that the tour was 2 1/2 - 3 hours long.

Thanks for sharing your experience!

The more I think about this, the more I want to do this!

How much is the tour per person?
My pleasure! Tour was $109 per person.

Besides the electrical stuff that looked like it would kill you if plugged in, what did you think of the baby bottle!!? My kids couldn't believe bottles were ever like that. I felt so old!
The kitchenette was a total time capsule. Loved the old-timey sandwich press!

How long is the tour, also?
Our tour started at 9:30 and went until after 1:00! The main part of the tour is about three hours. Then, after that, you tour Walt's apt in shifts: Half the group tours Walt's apt while the other half eats lunch.

OH MY GOSH!

My husband will die if I book this tour at that price! I was more prepared for half that much. :-(

Well, I'll really have to think about this, but I think that's probably just a bit too much for my budget, unfortunately.

The pre-apartment tour price was $64. If you have an AP, you get 20% off.

Thanks for the tip, but we don't have APs. I don't see it in the cards this time around, but maybe I'll save it and do it the next next time around.:rotfl:

I believe AAA also gets you 20% off. They're running a deal in Oregon at least for membership right now. It is my understanding that you save 20% on dining as well as tours and BBB. I find out for sure tomorrow supposedly.

There is also a DVC member discount for the same amount. Took the tour on the 10th, and it was great!! If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend it.

I always get confused by this.

DVC= Disney Vacation Club or Disney VISA Card?

'Cause I most CERTAINLY have a Disney VISA!

The Disney Visa Card will get you the same discount. I booked my tour using mine!

Hi All,
I'm bumping this thread up with some questions that I hope you can help me with :goodvibes

We have been passholders for over 10 years but never booked a tour so we figured this was a good one to start with :thumbsup2

I found the phone number for booking, but does anyone know what time the lines open? Since I am trying for a Saturday tour, I figure I need to be one of the first to call.

Also, does anyone know if they will remove portions of the tour due to rain? I know they won't let people ride in the Lilly Belle if it is raining and I'm wondering if they will do the same for Walt's apartment. And if so, what are the terms for cancelling (can you cancel/reschedule? And if so, how many days in advance, etc). We are a party of 4 so I hate to spent $400 and then miss the main reason we are booking the tour.

LizzyS please don't skip this opportunity. Walt's apartment is a very special place. You don't know it will be offered during your next visit. You thought the cost was 64.00 now you know it's 87.50 with your Disney Visa discount. Please tell us your going. Don't miss out for the difference of 23 dollars.

G'day

We did this tour earlier this year with our two daughters (14 & 11) and it was an amazing tour. I was fully prepared to go by myself and let them 3 wonder around Dl but they decided it may be neat to come with me. On the Disney Cruises I did a tour on my own btu after this one they changes their minds abotu my "nerdy" tours. :)

We started on Main Street and walked for about 3.5 hours with various stops. On the tour you do go ona couple rides and the best part is you jump the queue, a bonus with my daughters. After the walk is was back to the start point for anice sandwich lunch.

If you are anything of a Disney buff or fan you will enjoy this tour. You will learn many of Walts reasons for doing what he did, how Disney continues his legacy, secrets into the desgining, and many more hidden gems.

We did nto go into Disneys Apartment but did go into the foyer of Clubb 33.

My girls (kids and spouse) absoutley loved the tour.

you'll love it

cheers

Replying to my own quote in case this information will help anyone :goodvibes

I called this morning at 7:00 to book the Nov 10th tour. The nice gentleman on the phone said that they would be able to book it today, but that the tours don't load into the system until 8:00 so I would still need to call back.
When asked about what happens for rain, he said they only cancel in extremely stormy situations. Otherwise it goes as planned. He did not know if they would skip the apartment if it were raining. He also confirmed that once booked, we cannot cancel.

I called back at 8:00 and spoke to the most pleasant CM. She was able to book all 4 of us with no problem at the AP discounted price. I asked again about rain and she admitted that she did not know since they had not encountered that situation yet. Completely understandable since this is a new aspect of the tour.
So I will just hope for no rain so we don't have to find out :rotfl2:

Well, now you're making me feel guilty and/or cheap! :rotfl:

OK, I'm thinking about it again!
