Coronado Springs Resort - New Unofficial FAQ Thread - November 2011

We are also wanting to stay either at the CBR or CSR. I am leaning toward Coronado but it seems to be a "convention" resort. Will I not get the "Disney feel" at Coronodo -- will there be people in suits, etc. making it feel too much like a business trip?

My husband and I were there two weeks ago and we definitely got the Disney feel without it being too "kid crazy" for our honeymoon. We absolutely loved the resort. We did see a few business people around the resort, once when we stopped at the bar outside El Centro, two guys chatting and having a margarita. The other was one night, later in the night, we went to Rix Lounge and there was a group of three businessmen having a drink and something to eat. We ended up chatting with them because they were from Mass. as well. I am sure some conventions will draw bigger crowds than others, but we did not get the convention feel much at all.

Did the over ride trick on the AC in my room last night. Pushed it down to 65. I sweated all night, even with the fan on. Any thoughts? It's been on 65 all night and it's only down to 70, and feels like 75.

I'm assuming you don't have a rental car...how about Taking a taxi? I would think it would be way too time consuming to try to get there any other way...The have a ball desk at CSR..you might ask them to make arrangements the night before unless they say taxis are readily available..

Thanks for the reply, I was kind of thinking taxi, but wanted to see if there were other options first. Probably the easiest and most efficient.

Last July we stayed at CBR and has a early ADR at the Boardwalk. One of the bus drivers told us to tell the HS bus driver where we wanted to go. He said if the bus driver has time he can drop off at the boardwalk after HS. The driver had no problem dropping us off that day. If they are to busy there is a walking path from HS to the Boardwalk. 7:50 might be a little to early to be able to make the walk in time.

Thanks for the reply, I wasn't aware you could walk from HS to the boardwalk hotels, was looking on a map, and it doesn't look too bad. Now to convince DW and DDs that a brisk walk at 7:30 will be great for us. :)

Time to call maintenance.

Agree with the other poster. Maintenance time. I did it when we were there and I loved that I woke up freezing and had to turn the fan off.

Thanks for the reply dansdad, however looking at the 2013 version of the quick service dining plan (as opposed to the 2012 you have linked to) it seems CSR has been removed altogether from the options?

Since I am new I can't post a link to show you what I mean, however googling "quick service dining plan" seems to bring up the 2013 version of the PDF as the first result.

This seems to happen every year with CSR. They will eventually get on board with the dining plan. You will be fine.

Anyone there at CSR now?? Just curious to see how busy or not busy the digsite pool is this week.

Hi all! We'll be staying at CSR from 10/18-10/22, very excited!! We're actually DVC'ers but have always wanted to try staying here!

One question for the experts: do they offer cots? My son and daughter would prefer to have their own beds (spoiled by DVC? definitely) but I'm not sure this is an option.

We used to stay at POR before we bought DVC....we just loved it there, hoping we equally enjoy CSR for our Food and Wine weekend!

Thanks in advance!

My sister was able to rent a cot, maybe $15/night, when we were there a couple of years ago. I seem to remember calling CRO for her and adding it as a request to the room. Hopefully someone with a more recent experience will chime in.

Booked Labor Day weekend 2013 as our next trip. Seems a long way off. Was hoping to get a good room only bounceback rate for another trip when we were at POP this week, but the only offer was a free dining package with a 1 month window.

We booked this bounceback and were hoping for CSR for the last week of August 2013 and it wasn't available. I really hope they release more room for our timeframe. I even went online to see if rooms were available without any discount and nothing! How can it be booked solid almost a year in advance?

There is a huge convention the last weekend of August. They are using CSR and POR for overflow. We are going to the convention. Didn't book the bounceback.

ETA: The convention is August 30th to Sept 1, but we were told we could book rooms for the show Aug 26 to Sept 6. So I'm sure they have a huge area blocked off. Maybe if they don't sell as many as expected some rooms will open back up in the bounceback? But I find that doubtful since they opened up POR for the convention guests too.

Looking for suggestions on our first trip to CSR. We (me, dw, dd7 & dd5) were booked for POFQ but had to shift our trip by a day and instead of having to change the CM booked us into CSR (and it was slightly cheaper!) We drive to the parks except MK so bus stops aren't important. We also rarely, if ever, eat at the resort so proximity to the foot court isn't a consideration either. We do hope to have 1 day as a pool day before we go to MNNSHP. So.....with this in mind, where would be a good place for us to stay (or at least try and request that we stay)? Thanks! We're looking forward to this trip as it will mean that we will have stayed at all of the mods and can declare a "favorite"

Well, we are going to CSR in December. We originally were booked at AKL for 7 nights and we decided to stay another 3 nights at Pop Century. Today was filled with a travel agent who is clueless and grief with messing up free dining so we canceled our AKL and booked CSR for the 10 days on our own and kept the free dining! Whew, I really need this vacation.:cool1:

Great choice! Enjoy.

I'm considering Coronado Springs for my honeymoon next August. It just seems like the money we would spend to stay near Epcot (an additional ~$1100) doesn't seem worth it for the proximity to the parks. I also like that we can request a king bed and many reviews have said that CSR is a little quieter and more peaceful.

My question is, what kind of transportation times can we expect? I'd love to be within walking distance to Epcot, but it doesn't seem financially reasonable for us right now. We're also planning on having some nice dinners at WL and the Contemporary -- can anyone ballpark what our transportation time would be like?

Reporting live from CSR! Having a nice stay. The bus service has been pretty good. We waited 30 minutes for an Epcot bus once, but the rest of the waits were under 10 minutes. Haven't had to stand on a bus yet. Mousekeeping is OK, and the cms at the Dig Site are nice. Wifi service is very spotty. This is the first time I've had a strong signal in our Ranchos room. There was no BB offer in our room, but I was able to book a BB for next fall. CSR is nice, but Port Orleans is our 'home' resort and we want to do POFQ next time.

Lots of love bugs at the bus stops!
