:rotfl2: I know, I know it is only Sept for goodness sakes. But after playing the dreaded airline game I think I got the best prices I am going to get for air. From Buf to MCO @ $115 return TPA to BUF @ $150. How much is this going to add to my car rental now using 2 different airports!!! Never had to do it! Right now the prices are crazy high. Anybody getting any good deals for rentals yet? I know there aren't (if any) many coupons yet. So I guess it is time to start a thread for it. I am sure other people have to be looking as well! Our dates are March 2 to 15. I need a vehicle big enough for 5. Probably 3 suitcases and 2 carry ons!

Its fairly easy to book a rental car in FL with pickup/return at different airports. We've done it many a time.

As you note, its still way early to see any good prices for March. However, don't let that stop you from booking one now. The trick with car rentals is to keep watching and re-book when you find something lower. That way your price can only go down. :car:

That is what I do exactly, but even the starting prices are crazy!!! Usually I can get around$340 or so and then last year wiggled it down to $223 for 13 days! Here's to hoping!

Looks like at this point Budget is the cheapest using travelocity code x474200. There is no $30 coupon at this time but you could add one later. Total for minivan is $586. Add a coupon later to bring it down to $556. Everyone else is over $1000 with pickup at MCO and dropoff at TPA. The best deals will probably be next February for March rental.

The cheapest I've found so far is using the KLM code and a $30 entertainment book coupon with National for 3/7-3/16 for $253. Last year I was able to get a 10 day rental in the same time period for $147 from National so I'm hoping to get the price down a little but I can live with it if I have to.

I remember the KLM from last year and know I signed up as a member, but can't for the life of me remember my login! Can you share the code, or point where to find it!

I have mine already booked for Easter week. I used the KLM code and got a midsize for $232 for 9 days. I always book as soon as I can because it is so easy to cancel and rebook.

I booked mine back at the first of July for our March trip. There are 8 of us for our post-cruise....picking up at MIA returning at MCO for 9 days...$474.26 for a 15 passenger van. I'm very happy with that and frankly don't expect anything cheaper for what we need. Normally for a regular mini-van I book early then always get a cheaper rater a few weeks before we leave.

BECAREFUL!!! Some car companies will give a GOOD deal now but you must pay upfront. (Hertz)

I use DOLLAR rental car- express membership ( free). I booked my November (Thanksgiving) WDW 2012 trip with Dollar ( full sized car) in April 2012 @ $331.00, I have been checking weekly and early this week, I got the same days for only @ $83.00 base rate. This offer only lasted half a day, but it is now double that, which is still better then I had to begin with. My brother used hertz and had to pay $25 cancellation fee. He switched to dollar.

I used Dollar into Tampa and returned to it Orlando the last trip with no problems.

Once, I went to Las Vegas, and got a better deal just before I left for the airport, cancelled the old reservation. It pays to keep looking.

Also, I would recommend to EVERYONE, take photos of your car before you leave the rental place, all for sides and corners, and when you bring it back with a recent paper or proof of a date in at least one of those photos.

Thrifty loves to find the smallest for things to charge you for something you may have not done to the car, I know of a few travelers that this happened to them (I think because they declined the extra insurance), and when the rental company tried to charge their card for "damages", those photos came in handy.

Good luck- Keep trying Dollar

Subbing!!

I too like to plan ahead :)

We are going March 3-13. There are 6 of us so we want a minivan. Best deal so far is budget using the x474200 code - $527 w/ tax!

Last month I was checking some of the codes I got off our employee discount website called beneplace (or something like that) for our trip in March. Some of the code weren't any better than no code in the $500-$600 range. But here are the ones that were good. Prices are for a minivan for a week:

Dollar TB2473 $280.50
National 5028756 $298
Thrifty 0010229234 $286

I don't know if you have to show an employee ID to claim these rates.

Any problems using the KLM code? It is giving me a pretty good rate for Spring Break week for an SUV and I booked it as my "starting point" reservation since I check back frequently...I just want to make sure it isn't a code that gives others problems.

The best I have been able to find so far for a Mini Van is through Budget - $527.90 + $40 back when we return it.

Looks like Alamo rates have dropped today. We are goign March 2-13 and just booked a minivan for $497. I used the Carsland ID and coupon code AD8Z21SDB. Looks like the cars are coming in around $200 for those dates.

I booked 2 weeks on the Costco.com website. $314 for intermediate with Enterprise. March 2-16 from mco. :thumbsup2
