DDC XXII - End of Summer Bash

It was an uneventful, peaceful day. One that I really needed.

Still trying to finish up my project, a revised training manual and matching presentation, leaves me little time to listen to ESPN radio or post at work. I should be done in a few more days, which things can return to normal. Tonight, no soccer, cutting grass, child activities (except a trip to/from dance class for one) and it was nice to enjoy the cool weather and the bugs chirping. It gears back up with soccer and multiple activities tomorrow and into the weekend. It was great to have a chance to relax. Wishing all of you the same.

Dads, Dads, Dads, wow today was long sorry I wasnt on much they had long morning meeting about us getting DVC and trying to get that up and running. Then someone broke into one of the longhouses and stole some items. We had to turn over our CCTV Video. But I got to watch it before they came for it. Then just the normal handling complaints to cap it off.

Here is some monorail shots to take up some space here:

Evening guys, had another soccer win tonight, our keeper posted a clean sheet with a 2 - 0 over the team that we both played for last year. Now I sitting here putting all the calories back on my body by drinking a nice cold Corona.

Our annual Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival kicked off last night. I am hoping to take in a show or two later on in the week but the week isn't looking good so far, too much work.

Drink up. Sounds like you earned it!!

I can't wait for Sunday night. First game of the season for my hockey team. Looking forward to a good game and some beers with the boys and girl -we have one on the team. :woohoo:

You and Norm have me really longing for my coaching days. I've coached 3 seasons of soccer and 7 seasons of tennis. I really miss it but there was no one to watch the kids this season so I had to give it up.

Paid off Nov trip today:dancer::dancer::dancer:

Excellent! :woohoo:
Ya’ done good (as usual)

It's scarey out there! :scared1:

I'd rather be here, safe, with my friends. :grouphug:

+1 :thumbsup2

That's a good price, if I lived closer or could go more often.

Yep, the $399 is a great price…
It's the funds needed for the DVC membership that I want but don’t have the disposable bucks for.
:sad2: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Now if I can somehow accidentally run over my 4S... :lmao:

You could accidentally mail it to one of us…
just sayin' :rolleyes1:

:lmao: ok, forgot about lake mich. :lmao:

:beach: theres a lake in every state i think?

Now we’re talkin’!
What you want for that prime acreage. :lmao:

And would you consider a trade?
I’ve got a bridge that I may be willing to part with.

Good to hear. We all could use a smidgen of peaceful. :cloud9:

I won’t relax until Friday night.
The high school will have their first home game since early August, which in our house means it’s debut time for the band’s 2012 contest show. We’ll all work our rumps off, and I’ll be more relaxed the whole time then at any moment ever spent at work.

:goodvibes

Could you stream the game? It may be the only hockey we see for a bit?

I coached volleyball for the better part of 25 years but gave it up a couple of years ago. I did go back and coach a grade 8 team last year; it was the first time I coached kids that age in about 20 years. Turned out to be a lot of fun.

I started to play soccer again 3 years ago in a masters league. It has been great fun.

Morning guys. :wave2:

13 days until we head down. :cool1: DD still has no clue, but asks daily about when we can go back to WDW... The plan is still to wake her up at about 4 am right as we need to head to the airport and tell her... I'm hoping it goes well, but a bit nervous at how she'll respond to the surprise of it all (she likes to plan for things, even at 4 yrs old)...

Good Luck!! I married a planner and it takes all the fun out of surprises!! :rotfl2: Hopefully your DD isn't an extreme planner yet and can still appreciate your surprise!! (If she doesn't, maybe she can appreciate all the planning that went into surprising her :confused3)

When we flew with them in June we got to the the airport 1 1/2 hours before our flight. We also did curb check in with the Skycaps, took a half hour and then a hour though security. We barely made our flight. :(

SW is now advertising the Express Bag Check, from their website:

Follow three simple steps to take advantage of Express Bag Drop:

Arrive at the airport with your boarding pass*. You can get a boarding pass online as early as 24 hours before your flight!
Scan the bar code on your boarding pass at the Express Bag Drop kiosk and indicate the number of bags you are checking.
Show your government-issued photo ID to the Customer Service Agent who will tag your bag so you can be on your way!

Wow, can't believe it took a half an hour to check your bags at the curb. Well, I think a line for people who don't have to get boarding passes printed should speed things up. But it may come down to whatever line is shortest when you get there. It doesn't sound like you have to pre-register for it and commit to using it ahead of time. At the very least you can bypass the skycaps knowing there will be the kiosk and dedicated line inside.

Happy Wednesday guys.

I've got an unusual Wednesday off (normally it's Friday or Saturday).

Did my first bit of plumbing I ever did today....fixed our bathroom faucet that wasn't giving out hot water anymore.

A call to Moen and a quick run to Home depot for a puller tool and in about an hour I've got hot and cold again.

:cool1:

Not too bad for a guy that's not so handy!

Hope you all have a great day!

Good Job!! :thumbsup2

Well done. Every time I go to Ace, when I leave they say, "See you in an hour."

:rotfl2:

A puller!!! I have beach front property in Indiana id like to sell you. One shot of hair spray and it will pull out. Why didn't you text me?

wait, how much is a "puller"? (do I dare ask what it is you are pulling?)
and how much is a can of hair spray?

in the 1980s, you could find 20 cans of hair spray in any house. Now?? I might not have one in mine. :confused3

Did you guys see this? Horrible.

But made me think of the old discussion, are on-line friends the same as in person friends? It has been a while since that discussion here. Certainly, I'm pretty confident where I stand, and I've definitely seen a growing acceptance of on-line friendships. Thoughts?

http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2012/09/vilerat/

A horrible thing for people to lose their lives simply for being American.

I think it's very possible for people to have real friendships on-line. That said, I think every friendship is different and on-line friendships are different from people you see in real life. Does that mean you can't be better friends with someone on-line than you might be in real life? I don't think so. For as many people who "open up" on-line, there are probably an equal amount who don't because they are not comfortable.

From October 1 through December 31, 2012, Members will be able to purchase a Walt Disney World Premium Annual Pass for just $399
http://land.allears.net/blogs/dnews/2012/09/disney_vacation_club_membershi_1.html

That's a great deal!! but not for me. :rotfl2: next year's trip will be short and no other trip planned to parks within the following year.

What? You guys are real and not a figment of my imagination.

I'm just trying to move into CJ's house.

Move in anytime Norm. All you have to do is watch the dogs while I am away.

in the future, spray aerosol hair spray in the body where the cartridge is installed into. you have about 10 seconds to pull it out. if it dont come out, it wasnt coming out with the puller. give the cart. a little twist and it will pull out. the hairspray is a trade secret. you think the plumber can only charge you $125 per hour if he had to go out and buy cartridge pullers? :lmao: this past january was my 31st year in the hvac, plumbing industry. the first supply house i worked in sold electrical items also so i can get you into 100-200 amp services. get into motor controll and some 3 phase things im lost.
being in hvac you have to know heating, a/c, plumbing and electrical.

OK sure, but I have now idea what you are talking about let alone try it. I guess that is how you can get $125 an hour.

So... do any DVC owners wish to buy dear ol' cousin Nate an AP? :lmao:

sorry, cuz. they don't allow that.

not sure we can do that cousin Nate:lmao: but one thing I am sure of is, my cousin nate can buy me a Dole whip:thumbsup2

Nate's buying DoleWhips for everyone??? What a guy!!

Couldn't agree more! I've said it before, but my wife's response to my on-line life is, "eh, there are a lot of worse things he could be into"

my wife has said the same. :rotfl2:
