we finally broke down and decieded to forgo wdw for a trip to Universal /IOA
everytime i need to change i get charged a fee long before my pay off date 9 even though it was paid off the day i booked , Now i called to have bill sent to me by regular mail (as my printer died) and the will charge me 15.00 just to mail it out , REALLY i am so sorry i choose to change from WDW to late to cancel now it will cost me..

That's because you booked a package through the travel agency. Their change fees are the main reason we suggest booking your stuff separately through Loews and buying your tickets through undercovertourist.com or directly through universalorlando.com

You've really got to read the find print when you book through an agency.

Booking directly through Loews would allow you to make any changes free of charge until 5 days before you leave.

no i booked thru Universal no travel agent never ever use them for anything

Universal Vacations is a travel agency.

They state that there will be charges for changes made after a certain date.

Revision Fees:
Once deposit and/or full payment is received, a $50 revision fee per transaction, plus any applicable services fees or price increases, will be assessed for any changes made to the reservation including, but not limited to, dates, air carrier, hotel, and ground transportation. If your vacation includes airline reservations, air change fees apply, plus a $50 per reservation revision fee and any other fees or price increases imposed by the airline will be charged. Fees are non-refundable. Certain types of airline reservation changes, including name changes, are prohibited based upon restrictions imposed by the carrier.

Disney runs their own hotels. Universal does not. So Disney can have you book everything at one time. Loews hotels runs the onsite hotels at Universal but has nothing to do with tickets and such, so you can book through them if you are just booking the hotel or use the Universal travel agency to book a package.

To be fair, the change fee policy is stated when you book.

Yes, universalorlando.com to buy tickets. Loews hotels to book the hotel.

The problem has arisen because you have booked a package. The hotel needs to be booked through Loews and the tickets need to be booked through Universal. So the travel agency does the running around and booked everything separately for you.

That is why they charge the change fee.

At Disney, it is just one large company that can do everything at one time.

thanks i understand they are two different , but but i thought it said if you book thru universalorlando.com, that it would not be a problem didnt i understand that there is nowwhere to book all at once with out havinng to go to two different places , well i am old and still learning new tricks :)

and if you book a package thru disney travel company you will be hit with a fee if you make changes 45 days prior to your trip.

you can make increases on the motherland package without a fee but everything else you change incurs fees too.

always read the links a travel company gives you.

you posted sometime back that UO travel waived a fee for you when you made the first changes.

have you made more changes again?

nope no changes i just need a reciept mailed to me as my printer died .. and its 15 dollars so i will use someone elses printer :)
so in future i should call HRH for room and call universal for tickets and i will be billed seperate? but still get the unlimited early entry and front of the loine pass? thanks

there is no charge for them to email you the bill.

for future trips, book your hotel room on the UO website or thru Loews.

buy your tickets at the UO website or another ticket vendor.

If they are charging you $15 just to send you a receipt, then that is just stupid. Yes, in the future just call HRH for a room and call Universal or Undercover Tourist for tickets.

You can use the internet too. Just go to www.loewshotels.com to book your room and www.undercovertourist.com to book your tickets. That should give you the cheapest vacation.

I'm so sorry you have had an unsatisfactory experience. Universal really is a wonderful, wonderful place.

thanks damo.. i am sure i will come back with a great trip report :0.. i really am thankful for your pateince with tis old grandma :) in trying to straighten it out for future . guess its time to get a new printer LOL

since you are close to your trip, hopefully all will go fine.
you'll forget the issues you have had in setting up this vacation once you are there.

have fun at the darkside!

I'm sorry your trip is starting off on a bad foot. I hope it all improves and that you have a wonderful vacation once you get there! Next time no packages - we can all help you here with that! :)

As suggested above it would be great to avoid that fee if you can have the receipt sent to someone that can print it out for you.

or you could go to your local library and pull up your email and print it out there.

that is what i have done when my printer was out of ink and i needed it right then.

thanks everyone, son will do for me :) seems kinda silly complaining about these little things when some people cant even have the chance to go , were celerbrating 30 yrs anniver a little early.. my and my hubby(my true north) plan on having a good time scoping out the next place to take the grandkids :) thanks again for all your help:):thumbsup2
