I'm so glad Judy and Lauren finally got off their feet and got something to eat. They were making me tired!
They didn't let any grass grow under their feet! 'Course the cement and asphalt of the city doesn't make for very fertile soil for grass either, but you know what I mean.
The food looks good but I was just thinking about how much sodium is in Chinese food. I've been trying to do low sodium and yes once you cut back you really taste the salt in everything.
So true. I had a Nathan's hot dog a week or so ago and it tasted reaally salty. Blech.
I loved that they gave their leftovers to the homeless couple and that they appreciated it too. I have to admit it did cross my mind that it was food they had eaten off, but Judy did have a good point. It is better than out of the dumpster. Have to put things into perspective. It's not like the episode of Seinfeld when George ate the eclair out of the garbage at Susan's parents house.
Thanks for the Seinfeld memory!
I've never heard of dipping your card. I have lived in the South my entire life and I don't "mash" buttons but I do like mashed potatoes. Believe it or not even the south says different things depending on where in the south you happen to be.
You're right, differences all over. I was in NC when I heard "what button do I mash?"
How very ironic that they ran into the same guy on the train and at the same stop. I have to agree, small world. I was on pins and needles while reading about looking for the parking ticket. That would be something that would happen to me. I always put things in a same place and forget where that safe place is.
Don't tell anyone, but Judy is the worst for that kind of thing. She'll be walking around with her keys in her hand and then walk to the door and go "where are my keys?" Drives me crazy, but I love her.
Ok, ready for the next chapter.
Okay! Now I've just gotta get the chapter ready.
Wow - I really enjoyed reading about the mother-daughter trip to NYC. I haven't been in years and years; I look forward to taking my DD one day when she is older.
I'm glad you enjoyed it and hope that you get that mother-daughter trip someday.
Thanks Glenn. I am a long term fan (ok, stalker..) of your work.
Stalkers are welcome here Mel! Especially the kind that eventually say 'hi' and join in the fun.
My best friend and I spent 5 days in NYC as our 18th birthday present, and I also spent a portion of my honeymoon there so lots of excellent memories being brought back from Lauren's trip.
Sounds like some great times in NYC for you! I'm glad her little report helped bring back some fond memories for you as well.
I wish her all the best at College, I adored my time at university and if I have one piece of advice, it's to enjoy every minute. The time flies!!!
Thank you! So far, so good. When we talked to her last week she said, "I didn't know that college could be this much fun!" 'Course she was there a week early for marching band practice and hadn't set foot in a class yet, so that first impression could easily change! We've texted a little during the week, but we'll probably talk to her tomorrow to catch up on how things are going.
