7/13/13 ~~ Eastern Mediterranean Mouseketeers!

We haven't bought our airfare yet because its not yet available--fares for us from Philly to Europe should be out by the end of this month, so we are really excited for that. Locking in the airfare always makes it feel so real. We have however booked several private excursions already for Rome, Athens, and Turkey. After we see the airfare and make our decision on how many days pre/post cruise we'll book hotel rooms next since many of them have good advance purchase rates.

Yes, airfare does pretty much make it a done deal. I need to look into any pre night stays. Last yr we stayed in Barcelona 2 nights prior to the cruise and that was really nice. Not only is Barcelona a fun city, but it was so nice to be over jet lag. Having young children with us we will likely fly out right after the cruise. We did a post trip in London after the Baltic, and we were ready to just fly home at that point.

Can someone please clarify for me how the transfers work? If we book one of the hotels that DCL is using on our own, can we then use the check in service for the cruise at the hotel and the transfers to the port if we request and pay for it? Does anyone know how much it would cost?

We plan buying our plane tickets or driving to Barcelona and booking the hotel ourselves. Have never used a DCL hotel pre-cruise before or the check in service but it seems like it would be easier than lugging everything to the port ourselves.

Hey Guys checking back in. Booked the airfare today! So now we are committed. Eileen: Wendy, P and I stayed at Le Meridien last summer on my Starwood points, (last year they were a Disney contracted hotel), we booked the ground tranfer to the ship and were able to check our luggage at the hotel and catch the bus. No problems at all... UNTIL WE HOOKED UP WITH THE LEBLANCS THAT IS!

Just kidding, the folks we met on the July 2012 cruise (mostly eleblanc and family) made our trip and our summer! Can't wait, 11 months!

We just got back from our first Disneyland trip. Had a great time. So different from WDW! Sitting on the plane on the way home from CA with my Princess Talksalot, all I kept thinking about was next summer & the flight to Barcelona :mic: :headache:

Now we're in our last week of summer/back to school mode.

Hi there everyone,

This is Gary. I will be traveling with my wife Michelle and my twin daughters Kyra and Mara, who will be 10 years old on this cruise. We are from Oakville, Ontario and this will be our seventh Disney cruise.

Normally I participate in door magnet exchanges on my cruises but I see this has not been organized. We booked back in April during one of the Fantasy inaugural cruises but only just revisited DISboards to log in here.

Please send me the Facebook group info.

Hi!
When are folks booking flights and why did you choose that time frame? Thanks! I'm thinking of waiting until 4-5 months out to try to get the best price.

We will book our flights as soon as we know where we will be living in July of next year. (We will be moving, just don't know exactly when or to which country!) I would rather have something booked and know I have the time frame, route and seats we want than wait and hope to get a better price. Know what range the price should be, so I would rather just take care of it.

Welcome aboard. You have been added to the Roll Call. Please read post four for all of the particulars on joining things, including facebook.

Well I tried to book tickets today but somewhere between the time I hit submit and the confirmation page the flight schedule changed giving us a 5 hour layover. No thanks so now back to square one. I'm not sure how long. We added the flights when we booked the cruise but they are 1600 a piece for Disney and we found tickets for around 950 from Boston today. But then the schedule change. Not sure what to do...

Hi All,

Just checking in again. It's been a while. We were away on vacation for 2 1/2 weeks in August, and now are gearing up for school (which starts Sep 5). Been a busy summer!

As for booking flights, we are using our airline miles on British Airways to get to Europe, so because we're using our BA miles, we have already booked our outbound flights and waiting still for the inbound flights to come available (they should come available very soon). So, that is why we booked this early, because the mileage seats go very fast and if you don't book 11 months out, it's hard to get the seats.

If we weren't using airline miles, I'd probably get our tickets sooner than later just because the closer you get to the date you want to leave, the higher the prices often get, unless you want to gamble on the airline possibly coming out with an airfare sale a few months out. For me, I usually watch the prices daily for several weeks and figure out about what a really good price is, and then when I see that price, or lower, I book.

As for dates, we are actually going to be in Europe the entire month of July next year, and doing the Med Cruise in the middle, so that is our plan. But, I think a lot of people are planning to get to Barcelona at least 1 day before the cruise. We are actually making our way to Barcelona on July 10, and I already have hotel reservations for our family for July 10 - 13 in Barcelona. This will give us time to see Barcelona, but will also give us peace of mind that we are THERE and we won't have any issues making it to the ship on the 13th. :)

We are so excited! less than a year away. Hard to believe.

Anyone doing to 3 day adventure by disney precruise barcelona add-on? Also, anyone know what is the earliest flight you can book on the disembarkation day?

We're from Canada and Air Canada has an 11:30 am flight out. Wondering if that's too tight.

Tried to see if there was room at the Renaissance Barcelona Hotel and its sold out for July 25. Yikes!

Are there any cruise and stay packages at nearby hotels?

Went ahead and booked our flights from Houston. At $1000 it's not going to get any cheaper for us. We're departing 11:50 am the day we disembark.. Pretty much the exact same flight we had for the 2011 med cruise. So we're committed now!

We're flying United 4456 10:15am to Toronto and connecting to Air Canada 814 5:55pm to BCN.

Flying back it air Canada 815 11:55am to Toronto and air Canada 8113 to IAH 4:30pm.

It was $1043 when we booked.

Where is everyone going to get the best flight prices? Through airline sites directly or through some place like travelocity? Right now we are booked with DCL but I want to see if we can get cheaper some where else. Thanks!

Curious about the air canada flight. I saw that one and I thought that 11:55 wouldn't be enough time. What is the recommended time of departure flights?
