The What's for Dinner Thread- June 2012 (recipe index in OP)

Hello everyone :wave2: Sorry I have been missed for a few days. Things in our lives have been....interesting. To give you a good idea how interesting we had PBJ's for dinner Sunday night. :rotfl:

This is a pretty amazing thread with friendly people who love to cook. I love it!

PIO -Your risotto looks so wonderful. I would also add some meat, either chicken or shrimp. I love the food porn but it is also great visual for those who haven't made risotto from scratch. (raising hand in the air) but now I will. Thank you

Brandi - Insanity....really. Man you are one strong woman. Congratulations on moving along so quickly.

I should write more for you all, but haven't been to sleep yet. Getting difficult to type so going to get some zzzz's.

WFDT- We are going out with friends to celebrate my DH's birthday. Going to a steak house. I will try to be better about checking in here this week.

Hey, everyone! Sorry I haven't posted since getting back from London. Things have been crazy, busy here! The kids all started school and are doing really well. Katie auditioned for her first drama competition team and made it!!! Jacob is enjoying Middle School, and the twins are doing quite well in 5th grade... so far.

My brother-in-law (Alan's sister's husband) had a massive heart attack yesterday morning and passed away (he was 56 years old). So, we are dealing with funeral arrangements, etc. Marci (Alan's sister) is both physically and mentally handicapped, and her husband was also. Neither one of them is mentally more than a 12 year old, so it's kind of hard to get Marci to understand what is going on, and what she needs to do. The funeral is Thursday afternoon.

Dinner tonight will be soup and sandwiches. Something quick and easy!

What a week!

Glynis- I am so very sorry :grouphug: 56 is way too young. Are the kids taking it okay?

Lindsay- I have only had one ear infection in my life, it was terrible! I hope that yours gets better very quickly!

Angel- I hope everything is okay!

Ellen- I am hoping that Doug has a great night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We just had sandwiches last night. Dinner was the last thing for me, I worked in my room all day and headed to the store last night for new blinds and curtain rods. Today I need to wash the furniture, lamps etc and put my new linens up. It has to get done, all my lamps etc are in the great room adn I have WElby's girls after 4 so I have to get that gone!

Saying prayers for my dinner friends today, some days I feel so far away. :grouphug:

Good morning my dear WFDT friend,

Life is SO short, don't let one day go by without letting the ones you love know how important they are. We just never know when we might not get that chance. My heart just hurts today for my friends. :sad1:

Glynis ~ So sorry for your loss. Please know I am holding you and Alan very close today.

Hugs and love to everyone else :flower3:

Doug won his points last night but as a team the lost by one. They got second place. He was pretty bumbed but still please with how it ended up.

WFDT ~ Lemon Chicken, asperagus, green salad and strawberry shortcake.

Hey, all! Sorry I've been MIA this past week; I've been crazy busy. Today we had dinner at my mom's house. It was a birthday dinner (b-day is Wednesday). We had hamburgers, coleslaw, and baked beans.

Welcome, Angel!

Weight loss is still going awesome! I went shopping the other day and I am down THREE jean sizes!!! I'm not kidding, I literally cried on my mother's shoulder when the jeans fit. One of my goals, done!

Congrats! That is awesome news!:cheer2:

Glynis,

I am so sorry to hear this, prayers and pixiedust coming your way.

ok it is hard for me to believe but yes tomorrow is 4 weeks of Insanity.....

David and I have run, jumped, lunged, stretched, cramped, sweated, fallen over and cried in the name of insanity.

OK the sad part of all of this, is neither of us has lost weight.

I am actually back up to my starting (fighting) weight and David is down 2 pounds. So I know all the sayings... Muscle weighs more than fat and we have created a lot of muscle, but my clothes still fit the same also.

I can tell that I am stronger, I can do more and I am faster, so on the whole I am happy with that.

only 5 more weeks to go!

I am going on a work trip in Sept 9 - 14th, so I am not sure if David and I are just going to split the DVD's and work different stuff while we are apart, but I will continue in some fashion!

Morning, all! Scott has a Geek conference the rest of the week and is eating there the rest of the week so I'm done cooking. Yippee! Also, today is my birthday and I refuse to cook unless I want to, lol. It's going to be a busy day so I wouldn't have time anyway.

Glynis- I'm so sorry for your loss :(

I hope everyone in the path of Isaac is doing ok. Please know I'm thinking of you and praying. Love you all!

Morning, all. Things here are good!

We had a gorgeous evening last night. So clear and beautiful! Alan got home from school early, so we all spent some time outside, doing yard work. It's not my favorite thing to do, but it was fun to work as a family.

Tonight Jacob has Scouts and Katie has a rehearsal and then her youth group activity. So, I've got to come up with something quick and easy. I'm thinking cowboy quesadillas. The kids love them, and they are fast!

The funeral is tomorrow morning, with a potluck lunch afterwards. I'm making potato salad for that, and something for a dessert. We'll be grilling meat, so I need to get to the store and see what looks good. It will be hot dogs for the kids, I do know that much, but I won't eat hot dogs, so I need to find something else.

Happy birthday, Lindsay! Treat yourself to a great day/rest of the week!!!

Hope everyone in NOLA is ok. This hurricane thing is scary!!!
