I was hoping if we gave DCL another chance can we get first seating even if we are childless I thought I was going to die of hunger last time waiting for dinner

I know lots of childless cruisers who have had early seating, but I am curious as to why you were starving? There are places all over the boat that you could get a snack, even ordering room service if you wanted??

I guess I don't understand. First, request main seating. If unavailable, waitlist for it and keep calling and "bugging" DCL to ask if the request has been granted (remember the squeaky wheel). Finally, if you still don't have it, go to "Dining changes" after boarding and ask if you can be moved.

And ultimately....if all else fails....a late afternoon "healthy snack" will ward off hunger. We can't go from noon lunch till 8 pm dinner without one.

When we had late dining and it was just DH and I, would we order room service, or pop down to diversions or grab something by the pool. Plenty to eat. Goofy's has salads!

Ahhh, now it makes more sense. My DH and I really love late dining, and once you know where all of the places to eat are, a lot of the lounges and cove cafe etc have snacks served throughout the day as well as all of the quick service places. I would hope that you definitely give DCL another go! Whenever you do go again, look at the navigators, they will tell you all of the places you can get food and the hours that they are open, I definitely would recommend the room service cheese plate, very yummy!! ;)

Just tell your TA you want early dining and they will get that added to your reservation. I had mine moved to late dining as I was initially assigned early dining.

im going on my first cruise in 4 weeks and im on first seatign i cant eat that late so im glad i got first

If you book a cruise when it's first available, you can specify which dinner seating you want. Those who wait til most of the rooms are booked have to take what's left.

We're sailing in October and booked just a few weeks ago so we were assigned late dining, but that's o.k. because 8:30 in Florida is really 5:30 in Arizona.

I know if I don't take the advice given on the board we will be dinning with kids nothing ageist them it is there cruise I will be hanging with them during the day while dh hides

There are kids at early and late dining. I doubt you would be seated with a family with children. DCL works to pair people with similar groups. You could also request a table to yourselves. They do try to fulfill every request.
There are plenty of options for diner. The dining rooms, room service, fast food on the pool deck, the buffet is sit down for dinner and Palo and Remy.

That's what I was thinking:confused3 The last thing I am on a cruise is starving!:lmao:

There are still plenty of kids on late seating....maybe not quite as much as early seating but don't expect adult only at late dining.

Late seating is currently at 8:15....in 27 DCL cruises we have only had early seating once...for our first cruise and after than I always wanted late seating.

As mentioned you most likely won't be seated with a family with kids.

My dad and I are both adults and we use to do first seating, after doing second seating on the Fantasy we started to like that again. There are adults that do early dinner. I can't understand how anyone could be starving on the cruise though, but next cruise you'll be more prepared

Our kids are almost adults and we still always request early. :) We always think if we eat early, we can enjoy a drink in the adult clubs that night.... But we are always still toooooo full ;)

I was confused as well. We did 2nd seating and normally I was too full from lunch to finish my dinner, and if I was hungry I ordered room service and got something or went to the "Cars" food places on the Fantasy. Room service is awesome.

Yeah but you guys are forgetting that room service is not free my DH and I tired ordering a reg coke because they ran out in the beginning

Agreed with the PPs--I would suggest going to the Cove Cafe and picking up some dessert from their dessert case (free), or getting a pizza or sandwich from one of the counter service restaurants near the pool (also free). Alternately, you could order a snack from Room Service (most items are free, just give the server a tip).

Since you have already been on a cruise with DCL, you will receive the in-room Castaway Club gift for Silver level members. As of May this year, the gift included a package of cheese-flavored goldfish crackers and a package of pretzels--both in shareable sizes (free snacks).

Room service is free for the most part, the only thing is, tip the delivery person. Cans of sodas, alcoholic beverages, packaged items like candy, and popcorn are additional charges. Everything else is free.
I would suggest a travel agent who has actually been on DCL, (at least one classic, and one new ship) that can walk you through everything.
