Coca-Cola Freestyle Machine?

No but the firehouse sub restaurants have them also.

Just visited the Freestyle machine's FB page, and found they just installed a machine in the corporate office of Royal Caribbean! Also says they're in the process of putting them on all ships...hopefully Disney's are next in line!

I may be in the minority, but I hope they don't install them. I have used them in various restaurants (Firehouse Subs, Moe's, Salsarita's, etc.) The issue is only one customer can use it at a time. And everyplace I have seen the machines, it also was the only way to get ice. So I had to stand in a line of 4 or 5 people during a lunch time rush, while each person had to press a few buttons to get their drink. Then you get the person who doesn't understand the machine, and it takes them a bit to figure it out. It just takes too long, and all I wanted was ice for my tea. My fear on the ship is that there will always be a line to get a drink, even if they separate the ice to a different area.

Agree! And whoever designed it did NOT have a 5 it old!! That is a nightmare trying to get a 5 yr old to pick a drink!!

I was thinking of several of them in the beverage station of each ship would work. The Pei Wei restaurants have separate areas to get ice.

Some on the RCCL threads about these machines have also complained that the flavors can cross-contaminate. A simple Diet Coke can taste a little orange if the person in front of you just used orange.

Or just water or milk in my house!

In our house too. I meant from the machine. I don't think it has milk, but you never know! Our youngest likes lemonade, water or milk. Our eldest (they are both under 10) loves milk, and we have to limit her to 2 glasses a day. The pediatrician said she has the highest bone density she's ever seen - LOL.

I didn't think about the cross contamination. Ewwww...

RCCL charges for soda on their ships unlike Disney. From what I have read, I think to use the new machines that they are installing on the ships, you will have to purchase a soda package, which I rarely do on their ships as I think they overprice. My sister's kids have gotten one soda card and split it between the three of them going to different bars, so it was a little more cost effective. I mostly drink water anyways, but it is nice to have the soda machines on the Disney ships for when I do want a soda with no charge.

I agree and hope these machines are a fad that dies. The most common problem I run into, at least from a flavor perspective, is that most everything picks up a cherry flavor if many people have used cherry between thorough cleanings. Running water before getting a drink does not help.

On a ship, you have the crowd issue and a potential health issue. The current DCL fountains are the kind where you push the cup against a lever to dispense the soda. With this approach, nobody has to touch the machine. With the freestyle machines, you would have almost everyone on the ship touching one very compact surface.

But being 5, the choices are lemonade or water?

Nope, its lemonade, strawberry lemonade, grape lemonade, raspberry lemonade, lime lemonade, orange lemonade, water, strawberry water, grape water, rapberry water, lime water, orange water.

You should see these! you can add all the flavors to everything!! And trust me I'm a fan of not giving my 5 yr old too many choices. I usually tell her its A or B pick one.

But not having seen one of these freestyle machines before and encountering it for the first time in a crowded restaurant with my 5 it old, it did not go fast!

Don't flame me but I let my kids have lemonade on vacation :)

But all parental judging aside, you KNOW hat some parents let there kids drink soda and the more choices for kids, the longer the lines, its just a fact.

We don't allow our kids to have cows milk (only soy, rice, or almond milk) so I'm sure of won't be an option for us, But can u imagine adding milk to the machine Yuck!! From what everyone is saying the flavors from the person before still taste in your drink. Eeew! Can't imagine anyone being happy with milk that had a hint of coke taste to it!

They are nice but I only like it when restaurants have a regular fountain as well. That way you have a choice and less wait when you just want ice or a plain soda.

I dislike them too. I like my Coke plain and it always seems to taste funny from the freestyle machines (hint of lime, hint of orange, etc.) I've tried running the machine for a bit without my cup underneath -- but that's wasteful, and only marginally helps.

I also agree with you on the health issue. With how germ conscious they are, I don't see these machines on the ships. Right now, you touch your own cup, but not the machine. With the freestyle machine, you have to touch the screen. I don't see them switching.

My concern with them goes along with those people who have mentioned being able to taste hints of other flavors. I am allergic to all things raspberry and any traces of it left over from a previous user would be a huge problem for me. The machine is a no go for me for that reason.
