Leaving the Grump at Home, Beach Club here I Come!, Link to TR 10/1 Post 198

Great plans!!! I love the IG. It is a true gem and so much fun. It makes you feel like you have your own private entrance to the magic.

We have eaten O'hanas twice. One time was phenomenal and the second was just as you described. Hope you have a great time and enjoy it.

Fingers crossed that this time 'Ohana is phenomenal, I know it has to be good more often than not with as many people that love it.

I know I'm going to get spoiled using the IG!

Day 3, Monday, September 3rd

Today we are doing something I have never done before, we are headed to a Disney water park! I really had no plans to do this originally, I mean we are staying at the Beach Club, we have an awesome pool right there at our disposal, BUT after reading about and seeing all of Rinky's (RinkyTinkyTinky) fabulous pictures from their visit to Typhoon Lagoon, I decided we just had to give it a try!

So, our day will be spent here

typhoon-lagoon-address.jpg

They open at 10am and I want to try and be there as close to opening as we can. It will be Labor Day and I'm a little nervous that it will get pretty crowded as the day goes on. I read on allears that you can rent 2 chairs with an umbrella & 2 towels for $40. I really want to be assured of having a place to leave our stuff, and having a bit of shade would be nice too, so I think this will be money well spent. Of course, they are first come, first served, they don't take reservations for them, so again, I want to get there early!

Mom is really excited about snorkeling at Sharks Reef

SHAREEF_1_998.jpg

I'm not so sure, and Jared is dead set against it, so she might be doing that one on her own ;)

I love water slides and it sounds like Typhoon Lagoon has some great ones that I can't wait to try out!

typhoon-lagoon.jpg

And a float in the lazy river will be awesome too

typhoon-lagoon-castaway-creek.jpg

The park closes at 5, but I seriously doubt we will stay that late, my guess is that we will leave around 3 to head back to the resort and rest for awhile.

We don't have a dinner ADR this night and have no real plans. I figure we will probably eat at Beaches & Cream

BeachesandCream3.jpg

Where we will not be brave enough to try one of these

Kitchen-Sink.jpg

but I'm sure one of these will be consumed

nowayjose.jpg

After that we will just go wherever our feet take us. We may stroll over and play a round of mini golf

fantasiagardens1.jpg

Or head to DHS for Fantasmic!

FANT_1_998.jpg

I've never seen this and I think it's about time I work it into the plans. They have EMHs that night too so we could stay and play for awhile.

Or we might just go over to Epcot for Illuminations

ILLUM_1_998.jpg

We will have a couple other opportunities to see it later in the week though, so this option seems unlikely.

Finally, if we miss the Main Street Electrical Parade the night before, we could go to the Magic Kingdom for that

ELP_Floats_998x450.jpg

It feels weird to me to not have a definite plan for this night, I'm so not a fly by the seat of my pants kind of girl, but I'm sure whichever way we decide to go we will have a great time!

Sometimes a Typhoon Lagoon day, followed by a no-plans evening is the best kind of day!

You can not stay at BC, and not have a kitchen sink! ;)

Oooh, I love the water parks. You are going to have so much fun. You have to try the shark reef. Very cool experience!!! Plus, you are no where near the sharks so no danger there.

I have never eaten at Beaches and Cream. We must add that to our list! Looks delicious.

You have to see Fantasmic. It is my absolute favorite show on property.

Looks like a relaxing day.

Uggggg! Got a jury summons today. First time ever, I was hoping I'd go my whole life and never have to do it. :sad2: The worst part is that I have to report at 9am the day after we get back from Disney World

Dang! At least it wasn't during the trip! I work in the court system, and have always wondered what it was like on the "other" side as a juror. Have never been summoned yet. My DH got on a DWI jury a few years back.

Geez, what a bummer. I have had 3 and all have been cancelled beforehand. Maybe you will get lucky and that will happen.

You have never seen Fantasmic!?! We never miss it! Can't wait to hear what you think about it :yay:

My frst time to see Fantasmic was last Sept. you must see it, a wonderful experience.

Blizzard Beach was lots of fun, they had great water slides & I love the lazy river.

You are going to love Typhoon Lagoon!!! Such a neat place with incredible theming!

Your ideas for the evening sound lovely, too -- whatever you decide to do, it will be a great time!

Sounds like a great day and I will be watching your TR on this day with interest. We haven't been to a Disney water park either.....and are planning on hitting one in the next trip. It'll be interesting to see what you think.

The only one I've ever received was in my mailbox the day I came home from the hospital...........................

after giving birth!! :rotfl:

Oh no on the jury summons. If it were me, it would make it doubly hard to come back from Disney. Marc however loves jury duty. Go figure...

I can't wait to get your report on Typhoon Lagoon. It was part of our plans for this past summer, but we didn't get there.
Mini-golf would be fun for the evening, but I would go to Wintersummerland.

I love the no way jose....one of my most favorite foods in all of my life!

As for jury duty, I would contact them and see if they can bump it back. Let them know you will just be returning from a trip that day and you don't know 100% if you would make it. My DH got a notice for the month of one of our vacations. he called and told them that he may not be able to do it. It was one of those deals where they send the notice out and say you may be called in at anytime during this certain month. They said they would push it back a month...but he never got another notice then.

There is no way the 3 of us would be able to even put a dent in the kitchen sink! Honestly, when reading what all is in it, it doesn't even sound that good to me......

My head tells me that there would be absolutely no danger at the shark reef, but I just don't think the irrational side of me will allow me to get in water where I know sharks are! We'll see, maybe I'll surprise myself

Fingers crossed! That is the last thing I want to do right after returning from vacation!

You have never seen Fantasmic!?! We never miss it! Can't wait to hear what you think about it :yay:

Nope, not at WDW. I've seen the DL version though, so I do have some idea of what the show is all about. I really think this is what we will try to do that night, the only reason that I hesitate is because of the crowd. DHS has EMHs that night, and the crowd level is listed as an 8.5, not sure I want to deal with that.

My frst time to see Fantasmic was last Sept. you must see it, a wonderful experience.

Are you reading Rinky's TR? Her pictures from Typhoon Lagoon are what sold me on going there, it looks amazing! Glad to hear you liked it too, this might be the day I'm most excited about just because it's totally new for me!

I've heard nothing but good things about them. I'm excited that we are finally making time to go. Do you have a trip already in the works?

The only one I've ever received was in my mailbox the day I came home from the hospital...........................

I sure hope you were able to get out of that one!

Well I would be happy to let Marc come take my place ;)

I do like the theming of WinterSummerland better, but remember, we won't have a car so it will be kind of a pain to get to. We would have to take the bus to Blizzard Beach, which closes at 5 so I'm not even sure how long the buses would continue to run there :confused3

My mouth waters whenever I think about the No Way Jose, can't wait to try it!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my duty just gets cancelled, but calling to ask for a different time might be a good idea. The summons says that the judge will only hear dismissals on September 7th, but since I'll be asking for an extension instead of a dismissal maybe they will be accommodating

Before I talk about day 4 plans I have a couple of other things to throw out there.

First, 3 weeks from right now I will be in the air on my way to Orlando!! Yes, that's right, just 3 weeks!! :dance3:

Second, yesterday I got to see my dear friend Miss Anita Wigd! She and Marc (oh yeah, he's pretty great too ;) ) came down to Oklahoma City to do a little shopping so I met them at the Outlet Mall. Marc was nice enough to document the event for us

304777_893237388412_1468326960_n.jpg

AND, they brought me this

IMG_0303.jpg

Which I love!! Anita searched all over Walt Disney World to find that pillow for me, I tell ya, she's a gem! :goodvibes

OK, on to day 4 plans

Day 4, Tuesday, September 4th

This mornings plans are taking us here

IMG_4301.jpg

I'm thinking we will take Anita's advise and walk to DHS. I've taken that walk once before and it's really not bad at all and unless there is a boat waiting when we get out there, I'm certain it will take less time.

I'm a Toy Story Stampede kind of girl, so we will head there first.

IMG_2263.jpg

After that we will make our way over to Sunset Blvd to ride in fast limos and faulty elevators.

IMG_4204.jpg

IMG_4203.jpg

I very rarely ride ToT, each time I do I like it, but it still freaks me out for some reason! Mom has had several people tell her she must ride it though, and Jared would be disappointed if we skipped it, so I'll suck it up and go. I'm sure I'll enjoy it again, but I'm also sure I'll be nervous!

By this point we will probably need a snack and after Jennifer (Happydog) turned me on to the carrot cake cookie at the Writers Stop last year, that has made it onto my must have list!

Carrot-Cake-Cookie-side-view.jpg

Snack cravings satisfied, we will head to The Great Movie Ride, where I plan to beg for the cowboy scene if it's running, since I get the gangster - every.single.time!

IMG_4206.jpg

We will try our hand at drawing at the Animation Academy

IMG_4292.jpg

And I also really want to try and see Voyage of the Little Mermaid this trip. I haven't seen it since 2005 and I think it's time to hit it up again!

volm20.jpg

Star Tours is also on the must do list

Star_Tours.jpg

Jared hasn't been since the referb and he is dying to ride it!

We have a lunch ADR at Sci-Fi

IMG_2256.jpg

This is a must do for my family. We love the atmosphere in here! Now, is the food great? No, but the milkshakes are and the burgers and onion rings are pretty good too :thumbsup2

This is our only day at DHS (unless we do EMHs the night before - which I'm thinking is more and more of a possibility) so there is a lot we are trying to cram into one day. The shows will all be play it by ear, if we have time for them great, if we don't that's ok too. We haven't seen Lights, Motors, Action in a long time, so if we only have time for one show, we might make it this one.

lightscameraction.jpg

Before leaving the park I will have to stroll through One Man's Dream, even if I don't spend a lot of time, a trip doesn't feel right if I don't stop in to pay tribute to Walt.

IMG_7492.jpg

I also want to stop by Starring Rolls and grab one of their cupcakes at some point. I say I'm going to do this every trip and I never do, this time I'm going to do it! Even if I just have to grab it on the way out to enjoy later.

butterfingercupcake.jpg

We plan on leaving the park by around 5:00 or so. I'm sure after a full day we will take the boat back in lieu of walking. The rest of the night will be spent at the resort. We have a 7:05 dinner ADR at Cape May Cafe

cape-may-cafe-crab-legs-and-clams.jpg

I think this is the meal Jared is most excited about, that boy can eat his weight in crab legs and I know he will try!

I can't wait to hear about Cape Mays dinner. We are going there too this year.

How the heck did I miss 3 updates. Not 1, not 2, but 3. Seriously, I need to get my act in gear. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

All the plans sound great. I'm thinking walking through Epcot and hopping the monorail to the TTC and walking over to the Poly is your best.

We've always loved Typhoon Lagoon (prefer it over BB); but with all the walking up the stairs to get to a slide, we've given up going. But it is a great water park.

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: for a DIS meet with Anita. I LOVE the pillow. Where did she get it? I want one. :thumbsup2

Love your plans for the Studios and then going to Cape May. I'm with Jared...I could eat my weight in crab legs, although in my case that is NOT a good idea. ;)

Yay for your mini meet! Love the pillow. :thumbsup2

The walk to DHS from the Epcot resorts is really nice. But so is the boat ride. I always love that first glimpse of the Studios. One of the best views in WDW!

Mmm, that Butterfinger cupcake is so good! Sounds like a great day!
