Oh the Pressure to do a PTR -- We're Home & Surprise Video up on Facebook

I've not talked about this trip in awhile, so I thought I'd give you a little update on it (since my "sister" says although she likes my FIRST ticker, she really "loves" my second ticker :lmao::lmao::lmao:).

I've not booked our airline tickets yet, but will do so as soon as we know whether Andy has a fall teaching job (which is NOT looking too promising). If he doesn't secure a job, he and Des will be joining us. We are looking at a 9:30 flight which gets us to Orlando around 1:15 or so. We'll take the ME to the Coronado, check in and walk around the resort (may even stop at the hot tub and have a drink).

Then we will meet Nicki and Todd at Beaches & Cream for dinner. Obviously, Mark doesn't even know about the trip, and we're not telling him Todd and Nicki will be there until we walk into dinner and see them there. I know this is going to make him super happy. He loves these guys so much.

The next morning, Friday, we have no breakfast plans. We will be heading to Epcot and Nicki has made ADR's at Chefs de France (a first for Mark and I and Andy); then we will go over to the Studios for the Osborne Lights and then we are having Mark's special 60th birthday dinner at the Yachtsman at 8:30 p.m.

Up next, Day Six Plans

Hey Sista! I thought we were going to meet you at the Dolphin and sneak up on Romeo while you guys are ogling the Xmas tree...and then Todd and I were gonna flash him...you know with our customized shirts we havent decided on yet lol!

Yep, you are right...Dolphin and then over to Beach Club. And no flashing my husband...you might give him a heart attack. :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao: We'll have to work on those "shirts" while we are together in 54 days. ;)

sounds like a fun way to celebrate Mark's birthday....well all except the flashing :scared1::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

I can't believe our trip is now just 50 days away. Mark so needs a vacation with all that is going on with his ENTIRE family.

We are going to have a DIS meet next week, so it will feel a little bit like Disney even though it is not at Disney.

Last year, I met FreezinRafiki (Barry and his son Evan, along with Captain_Oblivious and his two sons) here in Chicago when they were visiting. I didn't get to meet the slightly more important parts of their family...the women. But we are about to remedy that. Mark and I are going to the Milwaukee Zoo next Saturday (baseball ends this weekend) to get him away from everything here. Barry and his family live near Milwaukee, and we are going to meet Bambi (his beautiful wife), daughter Madison, the new addition to the family -- Ryder, and see Barry and Evan (my Mark did not meet them when they were in Chicago). We can't wait to hook up with some old friends again.

A picture from our DIS meet last year (Barry and Evan are sitting next to me):

Just catching up with all my friends' TR threads after vacation, and I saw this lovely picture here...

I remember how much you raved about my t-shirt. Couldn't stop going on and on about how much you loved it.

Anyway, I'm glad you'll get to see Barry and family again! Don't tell him I said this, but they're super-awesome. :thumbsup2

Of course, you are too, so you probably already knew that.

And I agree--you guys really need a vacation!

This sounds like a totally great day, surprises and all!! :goodvibes

You and Mark really do deserve a great couple of trips with all that you're going through.

I just hope one of these days we get to run into one another!! :)

I almost went in Dec. last year for my 20th anniv., but I decided better when my mom was diagnosed. It just didn't seem like the right time to go, not sure I'd want to go in Dec., too much risk of it being cold and the parks close early. :sad1:
I think I'm gonna have to stick to my Flower and Garden Festival and hopefully an Oct. trip some times soon with Pat and my boy.

Love your December update! Sounds like a great way to start the trip! :thumbsup2

Mark is going to be so surprised!

And y'all have some great restaurants already picked out!

I knew you guys were close but

Kathy,

Enjoy your day at the zoo! My DD and I were there last week Wednesday (Milwaukee County Residents get in for half price on Wed. :goodvibes ) We were there early, it was a good time to go ALL the animals were out and really active!

Have a fun DIS meet!

:)

Yep, that flashing thing worried me a little bit too. ;)

Welcome back...we missed you. :goodvibes

Oh yes, that wonderful t-shirt.:sick::sick::sick: If I hadn't been working that day, I would have worn the BEST t-shirt.

I kind of know they are super awesome, but I won't tell him anyway.

This sounds like a totally great day, surprises and all!! :goodvibes

I think it will be a fun first two days with more goodness to come.

My Disney bucket list consists of meeting all my favorite DISer's...and you are on that list.

I understand why you didn't go last December. How is your mom doing?

I really want to get for Flower and Garden one of these years...maybe 2014 when we take the kids for their one year anniversary.

Enjoy your DISmeet!

Thanks, Glenn.

Love your December update! Sounds like a great way to start the trip! :thumbsup2

Mark is going to be so surprised!

And y'all have some great restaurants already picked out!

I think Mark will be blown away with this surprise. I'm dying to try Chefs; we've put it on the list but never seem to get there.

Ooooooooohhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

Sounds like a great plan!!!! I hope when you find tix they are cheap.

I knew you guys were close but

Actually, airfare is right around $290 now; Andy has lots of points and may use them on Southwest for us (although I prefer flying out of O'Hare over Midway and I don't want him using his miles on us. I should be able to book by September 1 when we know if he has a job.

I've not been to the Milwaukee Zoo in about 25 years and am looking forward to it. Mark is especially looking forward to seeing some elephants. And we can't wait to have lunch with Barry and the gang.

I personally think the "flashing" part sounds like a man's ideal birthday!

You are a bad, bad girl Michelle. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

We are up to the second to last day of the trip. Why is it that it takes forever for the trip to get here, but then when you are there it goes all too quickly? :confused3 Well, at least we know that we have Nickiland after we leave Disney.

So on to our plans for Day 6.

We will be up bright and early; I'll let Mark share a Fiber One bar with me (as we have a very important breakfast later) and then we will be heading to the Bus Stop to head here:

Day7001.jpg

I want to be here by 7:45 a.m. for 8:00 EMH's.

I'm sure these will already be out:

Day7029.jpg

First place we will head will be DUMBO, especially if we didn't get to do it the night we went for evening EMH's. This was the first Disney movie Mark and I bought when we were married...and it is all-time favorite.

Day7035.jpg

From there, we will hit up as much as we can here:

Day7047.jpg

Yes, I always pacify my husband and do the slow boat to China at least once every trip:

And, if we have time, we'll run over and go see:

Up next, a must-do breakfast

After finishing up as much of Fantasyland as we can, we have a very special date at 9:55 a.m. We have a date to have one of my favorite foods (yes, Tina, I know you don't like it):

Day3023.jpg

I will be having my puffed french toast with some of these guys:

Day3035.jpg

Unfortunately, those two cuties in that last picture won't be there this time. :sad2::sad2:

After filling up on breakfast, we will probably stroll through the Emporium to make a note of anything we want to buy on our last day.

Then we have to head to the Doubletree Suites Hotel at Downtown Disney to pick up our rental car. Question for all you DISer's. How do you think we should get there? Bus? Cab? I welcome your suggestions.

We are hoping to pop over to the Swan or Dolphin to meet Shannon84 who will be there prior to marrying her sweetie, Tim, whom she met here on the DIS.

After that, we are going to be leaving Disney property  and heading to one or two of the outlet malls and my FIRST Starbucks since we arrived in Orlando six days ago (Lord knows how I'll survive without my Starbucks until then).

We'll then drive back to Old Key West and start some of our packing since we depart the next day. If it's not too late, I'll probably suggest that Mark go take a swim

Day6108.jpg
(nope, Andy won't be with him)

as I pack much better when he is not around getting in my way.

Next update: what do we do our last night at Disney?

That's a lot of updates!

Sounds like great plans! A yummy breakfast and fantasyland is the perfect way to start your last day!

My DH is the one who always gets stuck packing up the hotel room. I'm always too sad to do it very quickly. ;)

I can't wait to hear all about the trips, but especially the surprise birthday trip!

Yummmmm, puffed french toast!

If you think you might be headed to the Dolphin to meet up with a DISer why don't you just reserve a rental car to pick up there? Save yourself a trip to DTD :thumbsup2

As excited as I am about two weeks in Florida in September, I really have to admit I'm even more excited about the surprise birthday trip. Both will be grat though, I'm sure.

I could eat that puffed french toast every day for breakfast.

We actually had the car rented at the Dolphin with Alamo. However, after checking prices recently, I saved almost $125 for the ten days we have it by switching to Budget which is at the Doubletree.
