The lot is much closer to the walking path and I would be able to hop in my car and go. No waiting for valet to go get it.

Really? You're actually posting a way to get around rules?
Here we go again......Resort parking if for those actively using that resort....staying there, eating there, shopping there. Park access?? Yeah, not so much. You want to leave your car at the Polynesian and head off to the MK for the day? Pay to valet park your car. Same goes for CR, GF, BW, YC/BC. Those that are paying a lot of money to stay in these resorts are paying for the perk of park proximity. Why in heaven's name do some feel it's their right to park anywhere they want to, regardless of where they have paid to stay??
It's always a lot of fun to watch the BW guest parking lot empty out at 9:30/10pm...right after IllumiNations!!! Those guests arriving home, at BW, for the night, have to drive around and find a further removed spot since the close up spots are full. Then, IllumiNations ends and there are plenty of spots. Gee, wonder why that is?? Same thing happens at BLT...I like to sit on my balcony and watch people walking back to their cars, parked close to the walkway to MK, and get in them and drive away..right after the park closes for the night.
I wish Disney would make anyone not paying to stay in the resort pay a parking fee...they could get their parking voucher stamped in the resort if eating...as long as they weren't there for over 2 hrs, they could park for free, with that validation.

Need I say "refillable mug".

PLUS, while people did break the rules with the mugs, it never cost someone a parking space that they, by staying at a resort, paid a hefty price for. It is simply something you cannot justify.

Nope, not me. I do think someone was boasting about getting away with something.
You obviously don't like to play by the rules. What a shame.
Then I'm confused. You said you would be happy to pay $30 to park at BLT and walk to MK. Where does that number come from??? Just an arbitrary amount so you can park in someone else's lot?The lot is much closer to the walking path and I would be able to hop in my car and go. No waiting for valet to go get it.

Here's the thing. The deluxe resorts are deluxe because they offer amenities that other resorts do not. Nicer pools, nicer theming (well, more adult theming), better restaurants, and close proximity to a park or two. So, guests that want these amenities pay a lot of money to stay there.
It's really not considered fair for someone who is staying at a value (or moderate) to come along, and partake of those amenities...yes, they can eat at the restaurants but they can not swim in the pools and they aren't supposed to park at the resort for park access. That really seems pretty easy to understand...at least to me.
I just can't understand why some feel it is okay for them to avail themselves of these perks that others are paying for.
Again, I really wish that Disney would enclose the pools and make them keyed entry...just like BLT's pool. I wish they would have guest parking key accessible as well, with addtl parking for non-resort guests to use, for a fee, after a certain amount of time. You want to head to the Polynesian and eat at 'Ohana? Fine, you get to park free of charge for 3 hrs. You get your parking slip validated (with time) and no charge. But, stay longer than those 3 hrs, or don't get the validation? You pay to park there. Seems pretty simple to me. And not so hard to do.
The other poster doesn't say that s/he DOES that - s/he said s/he would LOVE TO (be able to if it were allowed.)
Wow! This seems very personal to you. My apologies. I'll make sure to keep it to myself next time. Lol

Yes the other poster does say he/she does/did it. Earlier on in the thread.
I would be more than happy to pay $30 to park at BLT to walk to MK.
When I booked a vacation in 2011 the cost difference between the Poly and All Star was $3k. I just couldn't justify the monorail as a big enough amenity for $3k.
Now this is based on my visits. We pretty much use the room to sleep, that's it. Up at 6am everyday grab coffee in the mugs at the food court and eat our breakfast bars and hit the parks for rope drop. Don't see the room again until 11pm or 12am.
Granted we are all zombies by the time we leave Disney, but than we spend 2 nights at a beach resort to recoup before going home.
If I said to my kids in the afternoon we are leaving to go to the resort for a break they would have my head. Lol. Wife included.
Hope I'm not missing out on something that other resorts have.
