Tipping Info Thread for Disney Dining

I usually write in cash. There only time ot was automatically added to the card was when we were one of the last parties at Ohana for breakfast and we were the last poeple in there. The waitstaff did offer to remove the tip so we could pay with cash. Honestly, the tip she added was less than what we would have left

That is what I would recommend when it isn't added to the bill. For the PP I would draw a dash through the tip amount (assuming they don't want to tip additional beyond the auto gratuity.) For the PP, they will get a bill showing the gratuity due and they will decide how to pay the bill, either cash, CC, or KTTW card.

quick ??
If I have a party of 11(we will be staying in 4 seperate rooms) so 4 seperate bills, is the 18% based on who is in your party(11) or on your dining plan(4 for us)?

If your dining reservation is for 11 its 18% added to your bill autmatically

Does anyone know if the gratuity is included in the price for the Lunch with an Animal Specialist at Saana? The reservation required pre-payment and she probably told me, but I just can't remember. :confused3

Hi, I'm sure this has been asked before in this huge thread, but if someone could help, I'd appreciate it. :thumbsup2

We're travelling as a party of 6 for two weeks in Oct. It will be my family of three plus three adult friends, all in same villa in OKW, so all on the same DDP. I want to be able to calculate the tips so that we just pay for us 3, but I'd prefer to just pay 18% of our own meals, not 18% overall. Myself and DD are vegetarians, plus the 2 of us won't be drinking much alcohol, if any (& none for DD14!), so our bill will be quite a lot less than the three friends, whcih will add up over 14 TS meals.

Is it possible to split out the three of us so that we can just pay 18% of our own bill or will this be a nuisance for the CMs to do each at each TS? TIA!

Splitting the check is not a problem.

Again, this could be in here somewhere, but besides WPE are there any other CS restaurants where I should be prepared with a tip?
Thanks!

18% will be added to each bill if you are paying by room :)

I have a question as well. I'm traveling with adult children and grandkids. We are all on the DDP. There will be 11 of us, and I know we will have to pay the 18-20% gratuity. I have no problems planning for this. My question is, I will be paying the entire tip for the group, but they will be putting their meals on their KTTW card for DDP. Can the waiter put the while tip on just my bill?

That's not a problem Tonya. Just let the server know that the tips get charged to your KTTW card. Since there are 11 of you it will take a little extra time to process your checks, just letting you know in advance.

Hoping for an easy answer- We are a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 children age 7. We ARE NOT on DDP and paying OOP. We have a few character meals and buffets booked- Akershus, Tusker House, H&V, O'Hana, and Cape May Cafe. Do we tip 18% for these meals?

You can double check the first post in the thread to determine if you will have gratuity added, or if you can tip as you wish.

I have never tipped at any counter service location. I know there was a service fee with Pepper Market, but I don't know if they still do this. But generally speaking, counter service locations don't get tips.

This may have been addressed, but it's a very long thread: we are 3 unrelated adults traveling together & will be on the dining plan. The others will not be able to charge back to the room. My question is this - can we get separate checks, even with the dining plan, so that we will know who owes what for the tip? In the past, I've only traveled with family, so splitting the tip wasn't an issue.

Yes. Tell the server how you would like the checks split.
