Aha!

Thanks for the tips!! Also, my husband just called the Boardwalk directly and here's what he found out - we can just call down to housekeeping when we get there and they can provide additional pillows and blankets... and even box fans!!

Gosh was I excited to hear this, we don't have to pack extra stuff, and we don't need to make a separate trip to Walmart while we're there!

Jessica

With DVC resorts, they aren't as generous with extra pillows, blankets, etc because it is a timeshare. And while the person your husband talked to may have said they were the Boardwalk, they were probably a Disney call center not even located at the resort. Just like calling the front desk from your room. You get a call center.

We walked over there from Boardwalk. I don't remember how we got there, but we walked down to the S&D, laid in the hammocks for a bit, and then I crossed the street. It is Fantasia mini golf. They have one side of the course with Mickey obstacles. It is an easier but fun course. Then, the other side has putting with sand traps and water hazards (more difficult). We do the easy side. They really have it themed very well. They were also very patient with my dds who believe the putter should be swung like a driver. Many golf balls were lost that day.

Oh Fantasia! Duh, I thought it was another course that was associated with the S&D. I keep forgetting how close Fantasia is to those two hotels.

So I just changed my resort from AKV to BWV b/c our cousins can only book the Dolphin and we wanted to be closer to them :thumbsup2.

We stayed at BWV last February vacation but my boys didn't love it. They were really looking forward to staying at AKV. Are there any fun kid activities that I missed out on. My boys will be 6 and 7 when we go. Last year we roasted marshmallows at the pool, hung out on the boardwalk and they did the Pirate cruise at the YC.

Any suggestions????:listen:

BC has the campfire and movies and stuff. Boardwalk has a magician and other entertainment but only on certain nights. My son loved the magician.

I was looking up something on AllEars and found this list of Boardwalk activities:

http://allears.net/btp/brdenter.htm

And these activities are available in the resort:
Community Hall offers a wide range of equipment to pursue just about any recreational inclination. Inquire about fishing trips (there's even one just for kids! $30) at the Hall. Community Hall is on the Villa side and rents bikes ($7.00/hour), tubes, noodles, videos ($3.18), and tennis rackets ($5.30). You can also play ping pong, croquet and more. The paths around the Boardwalk Inn and Villas make for a beautiful run or walk. Marine activities are only as far as the Yacht Club harbor. Bicycles are a great way to motor around the Crescent Lake area and see all of the hotels and their grounds.

There are two lighted surfaced Tennis Courts located on the Villa side of the resort. Courts are free to Boardwalk Inn and Villa guests. Make reservations at Community Hall. Rental equipment is available.

Are Boardwalk View Studios ever bookable on cash reservations? I've stayed in one on DVC points, but have never seen one come up when checking rates on the hotel site. Thanks.

In theory, yes. But Studios and 2BDRs book pretty fast. I booked my 2BDR in January for December.

Actually I don't think that's a bookable category through CRO. I think you can only get preferred view studios.

Thanks. I see Deluxe Studio - Standard View available with cash, that's all.

The Boardwalk View and the DVC standard view (of the main drive) are not available for cash reservations, either through Disney or DVC. When you book a cash reservation through Disney it will call it a standard view, but that means the garden/pool/water view (DVC preferred view, non-BW view) that comprises most of the resort (about 60% of the villas). BWV and standard view are each about 20% of the toal.

HI, I'm trying to get ready for my upcoming trip to BWV(first time staying there-:). Is there any laundry detergent in the room, and are there sugar packets by the coffee maker? Thanks :thumbsup2

If you're in a 1BR, 2 BR, or Grand Villa, there will be a box of detergent (1 load's worth, IIRC) sitting on the washer dryer unit.

There are packets by the coffee maker containing sugar, artificial sweetener, and nondairy creamer.

Yes, but only I package of detergent in 1BR + and one package of coffee in its own filter. I don't remember sugar packets because I don't use them. Plan to bring refills if you would like to do laundry more than once or drink coffee more than once. Usually the laundry facilities at the resort have additional detergent you can purchase; however, I'm not sure bat coffee/filters/sugar.

hi everyone! this is my first post on this site. we just booked our ladies trip for march 2013 last week and couldnt be more excited. there are four of us (two mother/daughter sets) and all adults. we have been dreaming of this trip for years and finally are making it happen. we are staying at the Boardwalk in a garden suite, club level. Two of stayed at BWI 4 years ago but never at club level. Any suggestions? Also, what is everyones favorite restaurant on the BW? I was very sad to read that California Grill at Contemporary will be closed for our trip since we were looking forward to starting off our trip with dinner there and drinks on the deck for the firewalks. Any suggestions on a similar experience?? Cant wait to hear peoples advice!!

This was from a few pages back, but I would definitely recommend Flying Fish, right there at the Boardwalk. Excellent food all around. Another alternative would be Yachtsman's Steakhouse across the water at the Yacht Club, but to be stereotypical, flying fish would probably be better for a girls night out, unless the girls all like steak! :)

As AirGoofy said, it's just a few packets of sugar. I would just take a few extra in a ziplock. For the detergent, we pack the Purel 3-in-1 sheets, but it sounds like they're hard to find nowadays, and some people said they got spots from it, but we never had that problem.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to bring sugar packets for DH,I always bring my own coffee & filters. I'm having trouble finding travel size laundry detergent so i will buy more @ the laundry room. Thanks again!

Just bring a few of the new Tide Pods. That's what we're doing. Just put a few in a ziplock with some dryer sheets and you're all set.
