The Wedding Was Great, but now for the Disneymoon! An October 2012 PTR -Updated 10/3!

A few days ago Ry and I were watching a bit of The Princess and the Frog - which neither of us had ever seen (despite being huge fans of most Disney movies!). The following scene comes on:
beignets.jpg

and my DH says "mmmm...beignets." Seizing on a moment to interject some information about our trip I said "you know, they sell those at the food court at POFQ." You know, just as an FYI. His response? "What!? Are you serious?!"

:rotfl: Who knew that would be the piece of information he would be the most excited about? Needless to say, he is now very keen to check out the food court as soon as we arrive.

Mmmm..beignets! You can also buy the mix and make them at home!!

I need to watch Princess and the Frog. Haven't seen it yet. Been slowly working on getting DS to watch more of the movies....even the girlie ones. We found Lilo & Stitch 2 on Disney Jr. this weekend. He hasn't seen the first one (even though we own it) but he has met Stitch. So hopefully watching movies will help more with the characters...although he hasn't had too much of an issue going to see characters he hasn't watched before.

I love the POFQ beignets! We went there quite a bit on our last trip (it was a nice walk from POR to POFQ. Because we obviously didn't walk enough in the parks! ;)). Other favorite snacks are the cinnamon glazed almonds, the bear paw brownie in Animal Kingdom, and popcorn! The popcorn smells soooo good all the time everywhere in Magic Kingdom.

Good luck on Toy Story Mania! Our attempts at WDW Toy Story failed horribly so we went to Disneyland instead and got on several times. It is really fun, just not worth the huge lines at MGM.

I love catching trip reports early on :thumbsup2 Your wedding pics are beautiful, and I am now thinking of making my own Disney Box now!!! Love the idea! Also,I understand how you feel...I am a Disney Freak and my boyfriend is just along for the ride haha Looking forward to more updates!! Hmmm...may have to start my own PTR soon...

That's so funny about the beignets. Food is the main thing that gets my duh excited about Disney too;)

Haha, I don't blame him for getting excited about the beignets. I still haven't had real beignets yet, and I'm so eager to try them!!!

Lilo & Stitch (the original, I haven't seen the sequal) is a favorite in our house. There is just something about the humor in that movie that works for us, and Ry and I still quote it all the time (though quoting Disney movies is really not unusual for us!)

I swear, my list of must eats keeps getting longer and longer. Ry is going to have to roll me out of the World. Good thing I just learned that there is a jogging track that runs around POFQ and POR. Looks like I had better plan on running every morning before we leave for the parks (likelihood of that happening? :rotfl:).

I have a strange talent for power walking around people, so I am pretty sure that the "running for the fastpasses" is going to be my responsibility. Just another way to burn off that bear paw brownie I now have to get at AK, right?

Thank you! I highly recommend obtaining your own Disney box. I keep adding things to it (update to be posted today!) and it is just nice to know that all of these things that I have purchased specifically for the trip will be in one place instead of scattered all over the house to be packed!

That's so funny about the beignets. Food is the main thing that gets my duh excited about Disney too;)

I really shouldn't have been surprised, as food options were the thing Ry had the most opinions about with the wedding planning too! We both really love to eat but try to keep it healthy most of the time. I know that is going to go out the window for this trip, but that is ok by me!

Haha, I don't blame him for getting excited about the beignets. I still haven't had real beignets yet, and I'm so eager to try them!!!

Ry has actually had them in New Orleans before, so I made sure to lower his expectations and warn him that I had heard they were good, but not as good as the ones you can get in NO. He was still pretty excited though!

I finally got a free moment to take some (mostly crappy) pictures about my latest Disneymoon crafts and additions to the Disney Box! Sorry for the picture quality, but it is better than nothing, right?

First up, my trip journal that will be traveling around the World with me. Pictured from the front:

And the back:

All of the designs are just scrapbooking stickers I picked up at JoAnn's. I did brush a couple of layers of modpodge over the glittered and sparkley bits because, as my DH loves to say, "glitter is the STD (STI?) of the craft world. Once one person has it on them, everybody does." So now the glitter has a nice layer of clear modpodge over it and it will stay where it is (hopefully).

Next up, our t-shirts we will be wearing on the plane ride(s) down and while we are at DTD.

Mine:

And Ry's:

Many thanks to the DISisgner RustManFan for making these photoshop designs available to everyone on his photobucket page. I made these shirts using iron on transfers I purchased from Amy Mickey and I was very happy with the cost and the quality of the transfer paper. The shirt look great, and now I am trying to come up with a new idea for the last three pieces of transfer paper!

Next we have the new Vera Bradley Hipster I purchased as a park bag. My current stock of bags included nothing that was really appropriate for carrying into the park, except for some backpacks that I wasn't thrilled with using. I wanted something of a reasonble size since I knew if it was too big I would make it too heavy by filling it was stuff that I "needed" to have everyday. Enter the Hipster that I managed to snag at a pretty decent sale price.

Front of the bag:

And the back of the bag: (sorry this shot is a little blurry)

I especially like that there are two zippered pockets on the front and the back.

I also added a couple of more "must-haves" to the Disney box for our trip.

Finally, Ry and I decided that we wanted to try to get into pin trading a little while we are there. I ordered a lot of 25 from an internet seller with a decent reputation for legit pins:

That's it for updates right now. I still have to make a couple of divider pages for my binder and do index cards. I better get a move on though, because we passed the three months to go mark last week!

Subbing! I followed you over from my TR. Anything remotely connecting Disney with weddings is a quick sell for me :thumbsup2 (I have been lurking the wedding boards for far longer than I should probably admit - I just tell DBF it's for research :rolleyes1)

I LOVE your ADRs - Raglan Road is one of my favorites and I really want to try Boma, Kona and who WOULDN'T want to try Victoria & Albert's? Plus Food & Wine is tied with MNSSHP for my favorite event at WDW - my mouth is watering just thinking about it all.

Happy being in double digits!

LOL, I used to do that "research" all over the web. In the end though, it really came in handy because by the time we did get married I had a pretty good idea of the look that I wanted for everything. Had I had no idea what I wanted I would have been completely overwhelmed and everything wouldn't have come out as well as it did. I should really post some more wedding photos over here, I am really proud of how everything looked...:rotfl:

And thanks for the vote of confidence in our ADRs! Ry and I are actually pretty adventurous eaters, and unfortunately we live in the middle of nowhere so getting pad thai is considered out there! When we were planning our ADRs we knew we wanted to eat food we can't get around here. Ry's words were something in the neighborhood of "I'm not flying all the way to Orlando to eat spaghetti." Hence Boma, Raglan Road, Kona, etc. And since our honeymoon was probably the only time I would be able to stomach the cost of V&A's, I knew it was on the list. Hopefully we will be happy with that as a "once in a lifetime" dinner!

Thanks for joining in! I wish the trip would get here sooner!

Firstly beignets are sooo good! I them just recently when i first visited new orleans... YUM!:cloud9:

Anyway your shirts are adorable! I think you will get so much attention on the plane! Everyone's hearts will melt!

Also... What seller did you order your pins from? I am thinking of ordering some for my little brother as a surprise that way he can trade them on our trip this december (It may be the last family trip for a while *sniff, sniff* so I want to try some pin trading with my lil' bro while i have the chance!)...

Loving the updates! keep 'em coming.:cool1:
Ariel

P.S. sorry i haven't posted in a while... i have been so very busy! Two jobs + packing for college + trying to have fun with friends you won't see for a very long time.... well it will tire ya out! Cannot wait for more!

So...did you get your thank you notes done? I had a very active weekend with DS...think gym + pool on Sat & 9 mile bike ride plus 1 hour with trainer after. Didn't leave much time for Disney stuff. I did get a questionnaire out to the others on Monday and wrote about 3pages of info for the planning guides today. Gotta love long meetings! :)

Hi Ariel! Don't worry about not posting, unfortunately real life can really cut into your DIS time!

The pins we ordered were from Mouse Pins Online. Like I said, they had a reasonably good reputation for being legit pins. I tried to do as much research as possible to get real pins at a decent price, and they were the best option I could come up with. The reviews are a bit mixed, however, as some people have said they do sell scrappers. :headache: The only other option though was to order individual pins off of ebay, which was something I really didn't want to get into.

Thanks for the compliments on the shirts! I wanted to make something to ensure we felt like we were on our honeymoon right away, especially since we had to delay the trip awhile after the wedding. I am hoping we do get a little bit of attention for them!

Yes! They are done and mailed! (Well, mostly. There are a couple that we are waiting on updated addresses on as people have recently moved.) It was so nice to get them done. Now I don't have to feel guilty when I use my gifts;).

Hoping to do a little more Disneymoon planning this weekend, like getting to work on some more inserts for my planning binder. Sounds like you did have an active weekend, but a good one!

HAHA, I had to laugh about your husband's comment about glitter. It's SO TRUE! That stuff gets everywhere, and it just doesn't seem to ever go away! I still love the look of it even if I'm not that big of a fan of working with it.

Crossbody bags are the BEST in the parks! And the zippered parts will be perfect for tickets and FPs!

Pin trading is SO . MUCH . FUN!!! Hubby and I find ourselves just looking at CMs' lanyards as we walk.

I am so happy to hear that you like pin trading. Ry thinks he will be more into Vinylmation trading, but I don't love the surprise aspect of that. My OCD nature means that I want to know exactly what I am getting.

I am in love with my Vera cross body. It has been so hard saving it for Disney! But I know that it will be so much fun to finally use it when we get there in **checks app on phone** 78 days!

My DH loves Vinylmation trading too. It is really fun to do that as well for the element of surprise! What's great about that is that you can pick a number from the trading box, but often times there's also a little clear box of 3 that you can choose from to trade as well. If you get a nice CM, they ask if you're looking for anything in particular, and there were times that we went to ask as well (ex. when Howard was looking for Lightning McQueen or any Star Wars ones). My only issue with Vinylmation is that they're bigger so I feel like there's only so many you can collect (unless you only display a few at a time and just change it up every once in a while). There are some that I personally love (ex. ride vehicle Vinylmations), so it is very fun having those. Haha, even though they're all still in a box from the move.

The pin trading is a lot easier for me because you can trade MUCH more often instead of having to look for a Vinylmation trade box. They're light to carry in my bag since I don't necessarily want to wear a lanyard especially when it's hot (don't want it on my neck). I'm not someone who trades for special pins, like the Hidden Mickey ones or anything that might be of more value. I just trade for what I personally like, so at this moment, it's the DeeBees pins! We also traded for MOST of the pirates set (Mickey, Minnie, etc. dressed up as the characters from POTC).

Can't wait to see how you like the trading!
