Trip #8; But Was It Great? A WDW MAYcation with a side of LegoLand & Celebration, FL!

Wow! Looks like the crowds were really low that morning! That's good news considering how it had been up to that point. Two rides on TSM is always awesome! :wizard: But you can have those two rides on RnRC. I'm not jealous of that at all. :snooty:

I hope the rest of the day went as well as your morning!

It was a great morning at DHS!! ::yes:: I just love Tues, Wed, and Thur in the parks!

WHAT?!! You aren't jealous of my 2 rides on RNRC??? :confused3:laughing:

Can't believe the low crowds! No matter what time of year we go, there is always a massive stampede/line at TSMM. Maybe things will change on our next trip!

Love the RNRC pics! Can't wait to ride it again....haven't been on it since June 2009!!!! I couldn't ride all of my favorite thrill rides on our last trip.

I couldn't believe it either, especially after the crowds we had seen up to this point!

Hopefully you won't have too big of a crowd going to TSM on your trip!! :wizard:

RNRC is going to be so awesome since you haven't been on it for so long!!!!!!!!!!:cool1:

It looks like you guys were having a great morning!:thumbsup2 RNRC is my favorite ride in WDW! We also love sitting outside of RNRC listening to Aerosmith with a frozen lemonade!

Can't wait to read more!

What a great day this was shaping up to be!!

I can't believe the crowds seemed so low after the other days you'd had.

It's so nice that your DS13 likes the thrill rides and your DS10 doesn't-- that way everyone gets to do what they want with a partner. I like it! :)

Can't wait to hear how the rest of the day went since it started out so great!

We had the same experience at TSM on our last trip. We did hurry there but it wasn't nearly the stampede we've seen before (once my husband ran in the stampede and then had to wait for 40 minutes just to get FP). It was crazy. This time we rode and got FPs just like you did, very fun!

It was a great morning. :) I love RNRC too!! :cool1: I can't decide if it or Soarin is my absolute favorite....That's a tough one!!

I remember sitting outside of the ride like it was yesterday - Jaded was playing!!

I know, I was expecting the crowds to be way worse. :upsidedow So glad they weren't!! We needed a nice relaxing, fun morning at the park! :goodvibes

We are lucky that DH has no desire to ride all that stuff either and is perfectly content to take DS10 to do other things while DS13 and I get our thrill ride on!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1::rotfl:

Well maybe the big thrill and rush for TSM is wearing off a bit. :confused3 I don't know, but I like it! :thumbsup2 I remember when the FP lines used to be crazy. :crazy2:

When I left off we had all just met back up after DS13 & I had been on RNRC (2X) and DS10 & DH had been on Star Tours (2X). It was now time for our FP's for TSM, so back for a second spin it was!. Gladly, it was running properly this time!

DH beat me again. But my accuracy was better than him this time!

After TSM this guy just happened to be hanging out outside of the ride! So we stopped for a quick pic!

Then it was onto a family favorite – the Great Movie Ride! We had about a 15 minutes wait.

Very cool as always!

Now it was time for our FP's for TOT. :scared1: So that's where DS13 and I headed! Not really sure what DH & DS10 did in the meantime, must have just been shopping and waiting for us.

Awesome as always!:cool1:

We found DH and DS outside of a shop and we all decided it was time for some lunch!

c5d7d2f1.jpg

We had no real plans for lunch. It was early, probably around 11:30. We have been disappointed in all of the CS places at DHS. We usually would eat at Sci-Fi, but they took the steak salad off their menu so I didn't book it this time. The kids wanted to know if we could just go there for milkshakes since they have the best ones in all of WDW!! ::yes:: But I wasn't sure if they would sell us milkshakes to go. So as we pondered what to do we ended up walking by Min & Bill's Dockside diner. I told the boys they had milkshakes there and they said they knew they wouldn't be as good as Sci-Fi's, but they would take them!

So we popped in line and I noticed they had some lunch type items. DH was the only one who could find anything to eat though. So he got a Frankfurter with Dijon Mustard in a Pretzel roll. And we got 2 chocolate milkshakes, a frozen lemonade, and a water. And to the boys surprise and delight they were the same milkshakes as Sci-Fi!! So we headed over to the seating (all outdoor) and grabbed a table.

DS13 and I went over to the pretzel stand and got 2 soft pretzels and a churro for the kids and I!

Total Bill for Min & Bill's Dockside Diner: $20.52. Not sure what we spent at the pretzel & churro stand. Maybe about $12. So all in all probably slightly less than we would have spent at a regular CS lunch. And we were all full and happy!

Up Next: Streets of America & Indiana Jones

I love your ToT picture Shelly! Some of the poses people do are hilarious. I love the ride but will never, ever take my hands off the bars for a silly pose. I am too much of a chicken! :scared1:

Your simple lunch looks yummy! We did that for our dinner last time there as well. I'm not thrilled with the options either though I have heard good things about Starring Rolls.

I had to catch up on your last updates. We were at our camp from Sunday to Tuesday, so I was a little behind. I don't know about the rest of y'all, but it is miserably HOT down here!! On the way home yesterday, DH's truck said 103 degrees. I told my DH that if I complain about the cold in January that he is to slap me. Today is just as bad. I thought I was going to die checking out at the produce market.

I always love your DHS updates. :thumbsup2 It's great that you were able to do TSM and then get FP's for later. Believe it or not, TSM wasn't even there the last time we went. :sad2: I love the pic of you and DS13 in front of ToT. And I'm not going to hold it against you that you look more like his sister than his mother. ;)

It sure does work out well for your family with the rides. In our family, DH is the only one who doesn't like a lot of the rides. We got him on RnRC last time, and it took him about 30 minutes to feel ok after. He just can't do those fast or spinning rides.

I don't think I've ever seen the Dockside Diner. :confused3 Those milkshakes look yummy, and I would love a frozen lemonade about now. Did I mention it was hot? :scared: ;)

Random question: What is a churro?

I feel ya on that heat sister!!! It was reading 108* in my car yesterday!:scared1: Is that crazy or what?! And it ain't even July yet!!!! My birthday falls the last week of July/first calendar week of Aug and it's usually one of our hottest/most humid weeks--what the heck do we have to look forward to this summer?!!
Back to your program Shelly.

Great update Shelly, I love Hollywood Studios too :goodvibes

TOT is my sons favorite ride ever, he tried it for the first time last October just after his fifth birthday!

Your lunch looks awesome, I love the soft pretzels in WDW :cloud9: In fact, anything at WDW seems to taste better

Great update! What a nice way to spend an evening watching Illuminations, swimming and B & C :yay: DHS did not look too busy. That pretzel dog your DH got looked good .

Okay well I was gonna just pop on super fast and catch up, maybe not say anything at all b/c you just know I'm pressed for time....
but whoa nelly. I had to say a little something. I'm asking for forgiveness in advance bc you know I'm a little stressed.

WTH is up with that pretzel dog?????????

I'd comment on the shakes but I'm disturbed by that dang wiener. Yes, Really.

I have officially gone OFF the deep end.

:rolleyes1

Happy dawgs aside, it looks like it was a great day! :rotfl:

Thanks! I know, people make the funniest faces and poses on those ride photos. Not me, I am hanging on for dear life. :rotfl:

Yeah, I really think that is the way to go for CS at DHS. None of the CS restaurants we have been to are very good. We even tried Starring Rolls last year. :scared1:

It has really cooled off here. It's 82 and sunny today. :goodvibes The temps are going to start heading back up into the 90's in a few days though. :cloud9:

Glad you are enjoying the DHS day!! You need to get back there and ride TSM! ::yes::

That frozen lemonade was so good that day, it was so hot out! :faint:

You've never had a churro??? :upsidedow Well, I guess I never had one until we started going to WDW. They are like a Spanish pastry type thingy with cinnamon. Very yummy. :)

Your son is very brave to ride TOT when he was 5!

I know, everything does taste better at WDW. ::yes::

DHS was not too busy that morning!:goodvibes

I thought that pretzel dog looked yucky!! But DH said it was good! He said I wouldn't have liked the mustard on it though.

Safe travels my friend. Text me from the road!

That wiener comment made me :lmao: You are crazy! I have to say, it kind of gave me the heebie jeebies, too. I am just not a hot dog person, and that one was :scared1:

108!! Yes, that is crazy. And you're right, July and August are always the hottest.

What part of Texas are you in? My DSis was in Houston Sunday-Tuesday, and she was texting me how hot it was there when I was griping about the heat here.

Right there! Not really close, but in Texas terms it's close!:rotfl: We are about an hour and a half NE of Houston...closer to Louisiana than Houston really, but I think it's hotter over there with all those millions of buildings! No matter when we go there it just feels smothery (I made that word up ya know!)..like you can't feel the wind or any air moving,...it was only 97* today and believe it or not, we could really feel the difference..it's bizarre.

I love pretzel dogs !! The shakes looked yummy too. :thumbsup2

There isn't a whole lot to choose from at DHS as far as CS meals. I usually end up with a sandwich of some sort.

Great update! ToT is my other favorite ride (after RNRC), so I loved reading about that.:thumbsup2 We also have a hard time with CS options in DHS. If we need to grab something quick, we usually end up at Pizza Planet. I'm not a huge fan of it, but DD10 loves it for the arcade games!

We are 34 days away from the Poly!:goodvibes One quick question for you...when you were going to Epcot, did you find it easier to walk from the Hawaii building to the TTC for the monorail from there to Epcot, or was it easier walking to the GCH for the monorail? I have a feeling walking to the TTC is easier, but I just wanted to get your opinion!

Thanks Shelly!:goodvibes

It was a decent lunch for DHS!! :)

I like TOT too, once a trip. :thumbsup2:rotfl:

Next time we will likely end up at Pizza Planet. We haven't been there in a long time and the kids have been asking to go back.

Well, I think a quicker overall trip is to walk to the TTC and then monorail to Epcot. Of course less walking is to get on the monorail at the Poly and go the whole way around to the TTC, but that could end up taking awhile with all the stops.

We really enjoy the walk to the TTC from the Poly. Very pretty. :goodvibes
