Only Disney Magic saved us from Tropical Storm Beryl, Misplaced Diamonds, Attacking Windows, and Fantasmic Forgetfulness

Ok, so that ^^ up there ^^ is my real trip report title, but of course it doesn't all fit in my title line :confused3

Hi! My name is Jenn and my best friend Sam and I traveled to Disney World May 26, 2012- June 1, 2012. We had 5 full days in the parks and two half days! This trip report will tell you all about our girls adventure to the World.
As you can probably tell from the title we had a few mishaps and a BIT of rain.

Although we did have a few stressful moments, the Disney magic more than made up for it and we had the time of our lives! I hope that you will follow along and laugh with (or at) us as I tell you all about our trip! If you are interested, I did write a PTR and here is a link to that (its also in my signature):

PTR

First, let’s start with some introductions of the cast!!!!

The first cast member is: Me!

599654_1586233854323_1794749471_n.jpg

(I’m the one on the right! Just in case you couldn’t figure that one out ;) )

I am 24 years old and as you can tell from my username I live in Kansas. Yes, I have seen a tornado; No, I don’t know Dorothy ;) I recently got my first teaching job and will be teaching 7th Grade Math starting in August! I am very excited and somewhat TERRIFIED!!

Other than work, I love going shopping, out to dinner, to the movies, and to sporting events. I played tennis in high school and college, so I like to play a match every now and then. My most recent and loved hobby has been dancing. I like to country dance and I’ve known how to two step forever, but my cousins Brice and Kyle, who are twins and about 3 years younger than me, have been teaching me how to country swing dance! How fun is that?!?! Ok, anyways…

Before this trip, I had been to Disney World only 1 time. That first trip was also with Sam in May of 2009, and my addiction began. Now, I had not been a totally Disney deprived child. We used to live in Colorado and Arizona when I was younger. Thus, we lived closer to Disneyland and I went once when I was three and about 5 more times during middle school. Also, growing up on Disney movies really helped with my love of everything Disney.

Ok, enough about me.

The next cast member is: Sam!

Sam is my best friend and we’ve been best friends since our sophomore year in high school. She is also 24 years old- I’m 2 weeks and 1 day older ;) . Sam is a 4th grade teacher and this coming year will be her 2nd year teaching.

She is hilarious and we can be completely crazy together but we accept that our mutual craziness makes for the perfect friendship. I am a major planner and Sam likes to go with the flow. This works out well when we travel together because she pretty much lets me take over the planning aspect of our entire trip.

Sam has been to Disney World many times. She has been with her family when she was younger a few times, once before with me, and her and her husband Victor have been once together. She was the one who initially suggested and wanted to go on our first trip together. I blame her for my Disney addiction.

However, Sam has never been to Disneyland and she seems pretty jealous that I’ve had the opportunity to go there. We have talked about in the future that we should take a trip there also. I mean, doesn’t Cars Land look super cool!!! Plus, I never went to California Adventure Park, I was only ever in Disneyland Park. Ok, enough about future trips, let’s get back to THIS ONE!!!

I am so excited to tell you all about our trip! It was crazy and we pretty much laughed our way around Disney World! I took a ton of food pictures, which Sam rolled her eyes at, at first, but by the end of the trip she was volunteering to take a picture of her own food. ( Probably so I wasn’t standing up and leaning over the tables to take the pictures!) But hey, you can’t do a TR without FOOD PICTURES, right?!?!? We also met a TON of characters on our trip! I can’t believe all the ones we met! We even met a few that I had heard were “retired” from doing appearances! How exciting is that!!!

Alright everyone, hold onto your ponchos, keep your hands and legs inside the vehicle, and grab a Dole Whip (seriously can I have one RIGHT NOW???)…here we go!!!!!!

Continued in next post!

Can't wait to read all about your trip!!! What did you end up doing to your nails??? Did they turn out well?? I have so many different ideas for my upcoming trip in December but I never can decide on what to do!!!

Ok, so I decided that I’m going to try and start each Chapter of my TR with a Disney Movie quote that applies somewhat or maybe not at all to the happenings of each chapter! haha!

Chapter 1
“In Every Job that Must be Done There is an Element of Fun”

So this was it.

Day 0!!!

I woke up and instantly thought “I’M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD TOMORROW!!!!!

I had asked for this day (May 25th) off from work so that I wouldn’t have to worry about getting everything done. I had talked to Sam the night before and she was planning on being at my house at 9:45, so we could have plenty of time to get to our nail appointment.

In the few days before our trip, I had started to get headaches, my neck was tight, and shoulders hurt. This happens a lot and it means I need to get into the chiropractor to get adjusted. I was so thankful my awesome chiropractor could fit me in with an appointment at 9:15 this morning. So I went and got snapped back into place and went back to my house to wait for Sam.

Once Sam showed up around 9:40, she had the brilliant idea that we needed coffee, Starbucks to be exact! So we headed to our local Starbucks and I got a Mocha Latte Nonfat No Whip and I believe Sam got a White Chocolate Mocha and a Breakfast Sandwich. I remember her breakfast sandwich smelled really good and I should have ordered one too, oh well!

So we headed to our nail appointment, which was scheduled at 10am. We got there and they set us up to get our pedicures done first. I didn’t take pictures of our pedicures because they were pretty basic. Mine were just red with white polka dots, and Sam got red with white mickey heads in the corner of each toe. These matched her nails.

The guy doing my nails is probably the best at this nail salon; he is just REALLY good at what he does. Sam was not overly happy with the lady that she got. She just didn’t seem to be trying as hard to make Sam’s nails the way she wanted them. I felt bad for Sam.

Then we moved onto our manicures. We decided shellac was the way to go! Please don’t shoot me, but I didn’t get a picture of Sam’s nails. I did get one of mine, though!

The picture is off my phone, so sorry if it’s a bit blurry and I took this picture late in the trip so my nails had grown out a bit. Oh well, you get the picture!! But I thought the mickey head on my ring fingers were so good!!! My guy did such a good job on them and he was concentrating SO HARD to get them painted on just right!!!

So after our nails were done, it was time to get to work! But as Mary Poppins says in her quote for this chapter, we were going to have fun!!!! We went to McAlister’s for lunch and it was soooo yummy. Their tea is to die for. Yum, I want some now!!!

mcalisters-deli-tea.png

Best Tea Ever!

Ok. Now that my religious experience with ice tea was complete and our bellies were full, we started doing our last minute running. We went and gone 89cent emergency ponchos from Walmart (aka the evil blue store I avoid at all costs). Not the best place to go the day before Disney because that place always puts me in a bad mood. Thank God we got those ponchos for this trip, though. So, once we got out of there, we just ran some more errands.

Finally, we headed towards Sam’s house to start her packing. For those of you who did not read my PTR, I will now inform you that Sam and I had decided to share 1 suitcase. Yes, you read correctly. ONE SUITCASE. Between two girls. We both naturally overpack, so we knew we could not do this on this trip and really had to plan out our wardrobe. We watched The Lion King as Sam packed her stuff into her half of the suitcase. Once done, I headed back to my house and Sam waited for her husband, Victor, to get home.

Once Victor got home, he and Sam came over to my house and ate dinner with my family. After dinner Victor headed home after saying bye to Sam. I told him thanks for letting me steal his wife for a week!!

After dinner, I packed my stuff into the ONE SUITCASE.

Guess what???? IT FIT! That’s right, all of our stuff FIT into the ONE SUITCASE!!! It was amazing!

Then, Sam and I went and rented Tangled and Princess and the Frog. We were going to bring them from Sam’s house but we both forgot to grab them. Once back at my place, we got comfy in our PJ’s and watched our movies. Surprisingly, we were both getting tired pretty quickly even though our excitement was shooting through the roof. We pulled out Sam’s bed for the night (the sleeper couch) and I headed to bed after a quick shower (less to do in the morning).

I think Sam fell asleep around 11:30pm and I fell asleep at 12:30pm. Normally this is not too late. But our flight was at 5:30 in the morning!!! We both tossed and turned most of the night. It’s so hard to sleep when you are excited, even if you are tired. Its even more difficult when you are waking up and GOING TO DISNEY WORLD in 4 hours!!!!!!!

(Sorry for the lack of pictures in this post, I swear my days in the World will have a ton!)

Continued in next post.

Excited to join in on your trip report! I especially love finding other DISers who are teachers. I teach middle school math and ELA. I think being a middle school teacher requires a certain type of crazy + wacky, and I think that's why so many teachers can appreciate Disney and just letting loose to have fun!

Your nails look awesome! I especially love that Mickey head. I've never officially gotten my nails done (didn't even have them done for my wedding last month!), but seeing pics like that really makes me wanna splurge one day (either that or find a friend who can handle a brush very well!).

WHOA, one suitcase? That's crazy! My hubby and I were happy that we fit everything into 1 big and 1 smaller suitcase, haha. I definitely overpacked, but I try to justify it by saying that my clothes (ex. tank tops) are so small and thin that I can technically bring like, 3x the amount of clothes than my hubby can so I can have options! :D

Joining in on that party...You two sound like my BFF and I. I am the planner, she is the one to just show up and enjoy (although she has some input also).

YAY!!!! First update!!!

Omg, Starbucks. I honestly haven't been there since the day I left for Disney last year, and that was over six months ago! What is wrong with me? Mmm... it sounds so good.

Your nails looked great! Haha oh Walmart... why must it suck so bad? Good tip for next time: you can also get ponchos at the Dollar Store, if you have any of those nearby! Might save you a trip to the dreaded mart.

Great job getting your stuff packed into the one suitcase! Dang, yall watched some good movies that day! My question is, how did yall not sob while packing the suitcase and watching Lion King? I literally cannot watch that movie without crying hysterically.

YAY IT'S DISNEY TIME. :wizard:

Hey!! So glad you are here!! I love following other teachers too! I agree that we middle school teachers are definitely a special breed of wacky! Haha!!

Thank you! I loved my nails!! I got lots of compliments on them! You should definitely get yours done for your next trip! Just makes it that more special! I think mine cost like $30 and thats for shellac, which is more expensive.

I still can't believe we got everything into one suitcase! And it was under the 50lbs mark too! I think your excuse of overpacking is completely justified!!!:rotfl:

Yay!!! Glad you're here!!! Yup, thats exactly like us! Sam does have input also. She will tell me if she really doesn't want to do something or if there is a restaurant she really wants to try!!

I love Starbucks! If I'm having a bad day, I can just get Starbucks and be happy. Kinda scary that the town I am moving to this summer does NOT have a Starbucks! :sad1:

Thank you! I LOVED my nails!!!!

Walmart just sucks. I really don't like it!! We will have to try a Dollar Store next time. We have one close by but I always forget that it is there.

Its crazy all of our stuff fit in one suitcase!! I always get teary but no lie I was shakin my booty during Hakuna Matata and I Just Can't Wait to be King!! :rotfl2: I'm a dork!!

Yay...you started! I wish we had run into you but I knew the odds were slim, even at the same hotel! Can't wait to follow along!:goodvibes

So glad you started your TR, and that I saw the link when you posted on my report. I'm loving it so far! :)

I can't believe you packed in one suitcase!

Love McAlister's sweet tea--had one where we lived several years ago, but not where we live currently.

Joining in! :cool1: DH and I arrived at POP on the 28th and headed to MK in the rain....Can't wait to hear your take on all the rain.

Following along! I love Starbucks for a quick pick me up and loathe Walmart, as well!
Can't wait to read about your trip!

I am so in for a girl's only Disney trip. I've taken one of those myself and can't wait till the next one during food & wine.

I hate early morning flights before a Disney trip. I can NEVER sleep. So annoying.

Yeah for getting two girls' worth of close in one suitcase. THAT is impressive!

Hey Jenn and Sam - your excitement is coming through loud and clear. Nice work on the one suitcase. I am planning to take just a small carry on suitcase (a Disney one we got in 2010) in October. What a great idea to watch Disney movies while you pack. You were right in the mood. PS - I loved the Princess and the Frog!
Can't wait to read the rest of your report.:yay:

Thanks! I'm going to get it going more here soon! I'd like to finish before school starts but its not looking promising.

I still can't believe we got everything in 1 suitcase!

I'm not a sweet tea fan but I love unsweet tea!! McAlister's has THE BEST! Too bad there is not one near you.
