The cabana we had was not to far from the restrooms, this maybe a deciding factor for you. I know your mother and sister will appreciate your hard work in planning the cruise, just as we did with our daughters' efforts for our cruise. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I know your trip will be very special for your sister and mother and you.

thanks for the good wishes!!! i know we're going to have a wonderful time no matter what!!!

The decisions are so hard and then for me I was so worried after I booked about whether I made the right decisions. For example, I didn't book the staterooms with the extended veranda because I didn't know about them at the time. I was so worried that we wouldn't like ours as much. But that was not the case at all. I absolutely loved our room even with the standard verandah.

I am such a worrier that I need to repeat to myself that the vacation will be great no matter what! I have never had a bad vacation with Disney so I really should stop worrying but I still do! :goodvibes

i know - i worry about what i should decide and then i worry about whether i made the right decision!!!!! i drive myself insane!!
i know i'm going to love the Dream - how could i not....i just hope they love it as much as i do!! i'm hoping concierge helps that!!
we'll be in one of the 1 bedrooms with the slightly extended verandah....but i even worried about that.....when i booked, every single room was available so i was sooooooooo worried i hadn't picked the 'right' one with the extended verandah....i am truly certifiable!!

Is this a view looking down on the verandah for room 12000?

We just booked the Fantasy for next May on a western (I appreciate your stories about the excursions to avoid on the western YIKES) Anyway..just love all your beautiful pics and witty commentary:goodvibes The ship looks beautiful!!

Wow! What a fabulous trip report. Thank you for taking the time to share. We are flip-flopping between the family concierge stateroom and a one-bedroom, so your photos are invaluable!

Definitely reconsidering our decision not to reserve a cabana. They look so relaxing!

Thank you! So excited because we have that room booked for our cruise! I haven't seen any pictures from this viewpoint.

And what an easy room number to remember! I felt like cast members treated us differently when they heard our roomnumber started with 12... The gold keycard instead of the blue is noticeable too - I can't prove it but I did feel like cast members treated us special (but maybe that is how everyone feels when they are on DCL).

I was really pleased with the weather in May and thought it was a great time to cruise. Hope you have a great time and happy planning!

Cabana was great! Sis and I felt we got out money's worth. Both our staterooms were nice but are very different, as you could tell from the pics.

Can you believe I was having too much fun on CC to take photos of the food? Sad but true, I have no photos of the lunch buffet. But I do have a memory of some savory BBQ ribs and really-not-to-be-missed mahi mahi. PJ told mom who then told me, be sure to take some fish and it was delish!

Mom left to go back to the ship after lunch (she was anxious to get packing). Sis and I hit the water with our friends and I think Dad just lounged in the cabana most of the afternoon.

yep, we're back in the water. water temperature was perfect!

This should give you some idea of how crowded the family beach is. In the cabana area you can go much further out into the water. We felt we had the place to ourselves!

Still not too busy here

I love storm clouds! The rain entirely missed our little island paradise too! Never once rained this day!

think we all spent at least a few minutes in it each over the course of the day. Well maybe not mom, but definately found dad in it a few times!

i'm still debating SB vs the family beach and your pictures are really really really pushing me in the direction of the FB...

it seems as if the swimming is much better at the FB...

when you went into the water at the private beach, was the bottom rocky?

it seems the water over at SB is very shallow with a very rocky bottom....not very conducive to swimming....

decisions decisions!!

so if i go with the FB, which cabana should i choose?
i was thinking number 7, but yours seems to be very nicely positioned, so maybe 6?

enjoyed your pictures very much of Cabana #6!! We are a large group and have #6 and #7 booked for our cruise in October!

Neither confirm or deny a frozen drink or 2 ;)

It never crossed my mind to do the Cabanas, might have to rethink the vow renewal and do it on the boat instead of CC:lmao: Choices, chooices. Y'all are making this hard. Good thing I have time to decide or change my mind frequently:rotfl:

:wave2: Mom, Welcome to the DIS Boards.

No rocks at all. The sand was powder. There wasn't much in the way of seaweed either. If you can tell in the photos the water was very clear.

In the cabana area in Family Beach you can go out much much further than the family beach because the family beach is blocked off with ropes in the water to separate it from the slide area.

The Castaway Cay is built in such a way that even far out, it is not deep - even as far out as we were, we could touch the bottom if we stood.

In the afternoon the tide went out and parts of the cabana family beach area didn't have much water infront of them - the water is going further and further out. We didn't experience much difference at #6, but the end of the row of cabanas had a massive beach by the late afternoon.

Sis thought #5 -7 were the best - close to the bathroom, lunch buffet, ice cream and views of the ship. I couldn't come up with a complaint about #6, but I haven't experienced any of the others.

That sounds like too much fun. I was amazed at how much space there is in the cabanas and in the cabana beach area - there's way more seating than cabana guests and plenty of rafts, etc. We had the best time and sounds like you will too!

For us it was a no brainer, mom and dad are not 'beach people' - been in florida too long perhaps? Anyway, Sis and I knew the Outlook Lounge sounded perfect when they first started talking about what the new ships would have for wedding locations. It's really a special view up there and a nicely decorated space. Very intimate.

Sis and I also knew we wanted to do a cabana, especially since mom and dad burn so easily and like to be pampered. Sis and I think we might do a cabana again next year! We have to start budgeting now!

Not trying to make it hard for you! :goodvibes

What I really liked about the cabanas also was how private they felt. Here is my view of the other cabanas while laying in the hammock - see so private.

So relaxing

This is a photo of us getting kicked off the island. PJ asked us if we needed a taxi and we thought he was joking but they really will come get you in a golf cart from the cabanas if you need a ride back. We were still able to walk though. :)

You can also see how close it is to the buffet (the ice cream is also near there).

Mom said that people that stayed on the ship that afternoon had the place to themselves. Including the aquaduck and pools. So if you aren't a beach person, you might like that. Mom says next year, she'll stay on the ship on CC day. This just proves I am nothing like my mother. :)

i can't imagine staying on the ship on CC day!!!!

on our second cruise, we spent the day riding bikes and hanging out at serenity bay.......oh and also doing the banana boat thing (they've discontinued it i think) and the parasail or whatever that's called...

i still haven't decided on whether to go for SB or FB......i have another 36 hours to decide!! :goodvibes or maybe that should be
