Coronado Springs Resort - New Unofficial FAQ Thread - November 2011

My daughter and her family just checked into CSR.. and was in the Ranchos... room was musty smelling and mildew. Was looking to switch to another resort but they moved them to the Cabanas.. which I think the room must be better she said they were staying. Hope the room is better, I would not pay to stay in a room that looked or smelled. Certainly not what one expects from Disney for the money you pay, or any where for that matter.

Glad she was switched. I hope her room in the Cabanas is good!

i stayed here a couple weeks ago (may 18th-22nd) for the first time i must say it was a fun stay. anyway i checked in online and chose cabanas when i got there and was told we got picked to trying out their new lounge area. the lounge was pretty nice it was set up with tvs video games things like that, but the best perks were free breakfast in the mornings and beer wine and snacks in the afternoon, so it was a pretty sweet deal imo. i was wondering if anyone knew anything about this or had gotten it themselves?

There is mumblings that an announcement will be made some time in the near future about this. What it is will be anyone's guess.

After a 6 hr drive, being stressed out over the room was not what they wanted. I guess my SIL was disappointed in the check in, just not as friendly as WL or POFQ . I reminded them that was also a convention center as well, although this should never be a excuse for lack of good or excellant customer service, but after 40 mins trying to relocate and even with military disc. 1,000 more, they did move them to the Cabanas Bldg 9. I always say, First impressions are lasting ones. Hoping Disney Magic has begun for them in DTD.:woohoo:

Unfortunately you can have an unfriendly CM at any resort (our worse experiences were at the Contemporary and Wilderness Lodge--where the CM actually lied to my face--twice). But you are right, there is no excuse for rudeness or "an unfriendly attitude." I hope things get better for them soon.

There are three resorts in the running for September -- CSR, OKW and SSR. We might end up at CSR for my DH's surprise 60th at Christmas though.

The Casitas bulidings have 4 floors. We have had a top floor room every trip because my wife likes having nobody above us. I don't care as much, but I will say we had an awesome view from the 4th floor in Casitas 4 last time. We haven't stayed in 1,2, or 3. 1 and 3 are closer to food court. 2 is a good location if you are at the far end right by the quiet pool and number 2 busstop which is the best stop.

Thank you for this info!

Does anyone happen to know if 1 & 3 have elevators? Sounds like 2 does not.

Thanks!

Absoultey ! It can happen at any resort, and I am sure that the Magic has begun and after a good night sleep, they will feel alot better in the morning. I told her that there were more good reviews then not here. So I will think positive !!!

Showed up today at CSR after 6 hours of SWA madness, and went to the counter that handles online check-in guests. I had booked King Prefered and requested Casitas bldg. #3. I was informed by the CM, "I'm sorry, we could not accomodate your request. We instead have given you a Suite in Casita #1, is that OK?" I thanked her and proceeded to our beautiful suite. It is our 43rd wedding anniversary on the 7th and this just capped off a great start! Thanks for listening, I'm just so excited I had to share the info. Pixie Dust upon arrival, what a wonderful thing!

We haven't stayed in 2, but my understanding is that the elevator only goes to the 3rd floor in 2. If stairs are a problem you have to use the elevator in 3 and walk all the way over to 2. I'd like to think they fill those rooms last and only when the resort is full. I'm sure if you say someone in your group can't use stairs they not put you there.

We are here now. The resort is beautiful for sure. We were a little disappointed at check in. It took 45 minutes to check in which was way toooo long. requested cabanas or casitas. They put us in ranchos. When I asked if we could move we were told there was nothing available. Meanwhile the people on my left got 2 rooms moved to Cabanas and on the right got a room moved to Casitas. We could hear all this while our CM kept saying it was not possible. I ended up paying to upgrade to a preferred room so we could be in Casitas as we just didn't want Ranchos. We are in Casitas 3 which is very close to the main building.

Also I had noted on my reservation it was my daughter's 16th birthday while we are here. I also mentioned it when we checked in. No button or card or anything was given. Not even a happy birthday from the CM. It's not a big deal and we have still had an amazing trip but still kind of a bummer.

Overall though we really like the resort and would definately stay here again.

Did you pay for waterview prior to the upgrade? If not, maybe the people on both sides of you did.

WE ARE COMING HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

My girls trip for January is not going to happen (they are going on a cruise in February and can't do both trips).

Therefore, I thought, with the AP's we are getting in September, I wanted to get another trip in before our May 2013 trip. My darling hubby will turn 60 in January and has always wanted to see Disney at Christmas with the decorations, Osborne Lights, etc. So I thought...what the heck? Why not surprise him?

We'll arrive at the Coronado on December 6 (Thursday) and depart late in the day on Monday, December 10.

I can't wait to be home. :goodvibes

Sorry you didn't get your request. You should be able to ask for a birthday button for her. If not at the resort, they have them at each guest service area in the park. Usually in the morning there is a cart with them outside of guest services.

I've stayed at CSR for my b-day several times. Only got a card one of those times.

That's true. Or even paid for garden view?

Like the other poster said, its possible those other people paid for a waterview room. If the resort is close to full they would put you into a waterview without paying just to honor your request. I always pay for a waterview, I find it gives me more negotiating power when trying to get the room I want.
