First things first! The players!
Me: Callie 38 years young today and SAHM to 6 beautiful kiddos.
Hubs: James 42 Is the Pepsi man! And the love of my life and my everything!
Lauren: 18 who we hope will be able to join us on our trip. She is currently stuck in Il at Navy boot camp in RCU with stress fractures.
Alex: 16 has had a rough year. He also happens to have cerebral palsy another reason it will be awesome if Lauren can go an extra set of hands to push!
Noah: 6 our wish kiddo. A wild and crazy little boy who came to us at almost 3 years old from a very rough situation. Noah has post traumatic stress disorder but has made amazing strides since he came to us 3 years ago. He has gone from a scared little boy to a happy kindergartener!
Tyler: 4 he was 3 months early and came to us at 18 months old. Also has made huge strides. When he came to us at 18 m he could say nothing and not even sit up. He is about to start playing soccer and has tested out of speech at school even though he still has private speech!
Jackson: 3 will be 4 in July. He is Noahs biological brother and came to us when he was 3 weeks old. He is full of energy and some days exhausting but one of the great loves of my life!
Emily Elizabeth: 3 and our last! She is Tylers biological sister but crazily enough she came to us before Tyler did. We were chosen to adopt Ty but we got her as a foster child. Today is the 3 year anniversary of when she came to us. She rules her brothers and keeps us all hopping. She is a girly girl but thinks Darth Vader and Spiderman hung the moon.
We found out Monday that Noah has been chosen for a wish trip. A friend nominated him a while back and we have been dragging our feet about filling out the forms until we thought he was ready. Noah was chosen because of the abuse he endured before being removed from his bio family at almost 3. Noah has been diagnosed with PTSD among other things. He has done so much better than any of the psychiatrists and Drs expected. They were very doom and gloom when he was younger.
We have had several trips planned but for one reason or another we have had to cancel. DH got laid off a few years ago from his supervisor job in the oilfield. We thought at the time it was the end of the world, little did we know it was the biggest blessing in disguise. With him being at home and Noah and Jackson never wondering when he was coming home next they started doing so much better! We quickly decided he would be changing fields even if that meant we didn't have as much money as we once did. After a year of searching the perfect job pretty much fell into our laps. He now works for Pepsi driving a delivery truck. The money isn't amazing but we have wonderful insurance and he is home EVERY afternoon and weekends. He is off on holidays and even gets vacation time. They are understanding if he needs to take off it is wonderful and we are very very blessed. This is our first trip as a family of 8 the last time we went to Disney were were a family of 4 so this should be an interesting journey!
About our trip: We will be taking a wish trip with the sunshine foundation. They provide transportation lodging and 3 days tickets. We are hoping to extend our stay by a few days so we can take things a bit slower for Noah's sake. She said it would be between 9 months and a year before we go. We are hoping for a Feb or the first part of March trip. She told us that if we call back in August she would be able to give us a better idea of when We are planning on planning full days and if Noah cannot handle it we will go back to the room or swim or chill out somewhere. We think if we can go during a very slow time though it will be so much better for Noah. Noah's official wish is to meet Captain Jack. He loves the Pirates movies. <3
