We arrive Saturday for a conference at CSR. We booked preferred and requested 2 room adjoining. The conference shows all rooms booked and that they are now booking at AKL. A little nervous we will not get adjoining rooms. 1) would you recommend doing online check-in 2) should I stay with preferred? It is within walking distance to the Dig Site pool?
Thanks

Preferred is Casitas 1, 2, and 3. We were in Casitas 5 by luck. Next time we are doing preferred to make sure we can get 1, 2, or 3. Walking distance is a matter of opinion, but we thought it was just a short distance to the dig site pool. We enjoyed being near the Pepper Market area, bus stop 2, and we also visited the quiet pool and laundry area at Casitas.

Have fun on your trip!!

I will let know tinkerbelleinri! From hoosiermoms post it sounds pretty delish. If you are by the pool look for me,I will have a wild little boy and a giant Hawaiian print beach bag that says Joy on it!

(usually stay at WL ...)

:) Glad to see I"m not the only one who usually does WL going to CSR this August.. are you early or late august? If early.. :) looking forward to the WL Lover's view of CSR...

John

Thank you for answering my "burning" questions.. dh would say just wait til you get there...

John- I am going the 5th til 14th of August....

I am excited...a friend of mine who only does deluxe or DVC got happy for me today when I told her where we were staying... she is a disney queen,.... She said CSR is her fav moderate....

Jill

Hi all... I just booked our 1st trip to CSR for 9 nights in August.

I have read the 1st ten pages but have to go to bed and have some questions... Which are based on my previous stays at WL

3) Are there quiet areas in the resort area that are inside or have A/C (like in EL Centro)? I am traveling with DD (18) and I will want some time away to be by myself--- read, relax... I love sitting by a pool but in August--- kinda warm lol ....

Thanks All!
Jill

Jill, You can grab a hammock at the Cabanas or Casitas. El Centro is nothing like WL or the WLV quiet areas. When we visited friends staying at WLV there were fire places, checkers, rockers etc. There is nothing like that inside El Centro. There are 2 benches at the fountain area of El Centro. There is seating and tables outside of El Centro near Leguna Bar. There are benches in some of the courtyards at the Casitas and near some of the fountains. The smoking areas have benches. Off the top of my head I can't think of any others.

Can you buy cases of water or soda in the Panchitos store? We really don't have to get a lot of stuff (water, soda, Gatorade, milk and cereal) so I don't know if using Garden Grocer is really worth it for us. I don't want to order stuff I don't need just to make the min $40 order plus $14 for delivery $12 + $2 gas surcharge)

Thanks!!

Ok. we have a reservation (well.. two actually because of free dining) with Water View.
I know you might not get a Lake view.. i do want a lake view.
which locations have lake views that are close to food?
we don't care about bus stops as we will have our car, courtesy of the Auto Train, but the pool is an important thing for us too..
is it possible to satisfy both?

John

Food is located in El Centro, and there is also food at the Dig Site. Preferred rooms are casitas 1, 2 and 3. If you have booked standard water view, casitas 4 and 5 and the cabanas can have nice views of the lake.

Water view can also mean the courtyards in the casitas or any of the quiet pools.

Each section has its own bus stop, so you won't be far from a stop in any section.

we're staying in 2 rooms for our family of 6 with kids ranging from 6-16 should I request for us to be in cabanas 9B, 9A, 8B or 8A? which is the best choice? flying in so disney trans only

just returned wednesday. quick review.

we walked around the whole resort and didn't see any sidewalk construction at all.

we were in cabanas 8A, ist floor. only 4 rooms closer to the dig site than us!

we thought the bus service was wonderful! hardly any waits at all. and only had to stand once.

we really liked the breakfast buffet and tried the lunchbuffet onece, it was good. but we were on the DDP. if not, we would not want to pay $15 or $17 for it.

we were disappointed in the quick servcie by the pool or cafe rix.. they used to have GREAT steak fries. so, anturally, they did away with them. and NOW, you don/t even get fries with your burgers or hot dog, only these crappy kettle chips. bad move on their part.

we really dislike having to stand in line with those ordering food to get the mugs refilled at the dig site (main pool).. and they always gave it back to you only 2 thirds full, cause theydidn't wait for the foam to go down. I probably annoyed them, cause I always said, "can you fill it?"

why? oh WHY?! did they take away the little table with 2 chairs and put in a stupid desk with a desk chair? 2 people want to sit down and eat together, or have a cocktail, or play cards. I ended up having to sit at the end of the desk on a little hassock (ottoman, for you younger folks)

the Casitas quiet pool does NOT have access to a bathroom after 7PM!!!!!! how silly is that? you go into the "spa", workout worm area to use the bathroom .. and even tho you can go around the building and access it 24hours, the "lockers/bathrooms are locked after 7. so, if you are working out, you have to go back to your room to use the bathroom? you are swimming, and need the bathroom, and have to trudge (in your wet suit) all the way back to your room?
in my opinion, this only encourages kids to pee in the pool!!! this is ridiculous!!!! I can see having the bathrooms locked, and room key access only, but not totally locked.
one night there was a worker just closing up, and we asked if we could use the bathroom, she was very rude, and said no, they were closing. then she told me " I DON'T work for Disney!"

we liked it. it was our 4th stay there. but we won't be back for a while.. the food is just too pricey at pepper market. the lines at cafe rix were long, and we didn't like the counter service ther or at siestas, (hated the chips, not enough options). and it is just too spread out for us.

we would go back to stay in the casitas, if only they kept the restrooms open at the quiet pool

Thanks so much for your review. We are trying out CSR for the first time in 13 days. We really want to love one of the mods since deluxe prices are out of control. We have done POR and CBR and so far like CBR better. One thing i have learned is we prefer eating at the parks and DTD and we eat breakfast in our room with the exception of one character breakfast. We never do the dining plan so i am already agreeing with you about PM, but it probably won't be a factor for us. The bathroom situation is just weird. My 11 year old and I stayed at ASMU with my brother and neice in February (last minute trip) and they were more accomodating.

Just checked in. We are in Ranchos 7b. When she said that was where we were going, she noticed the look of panic on my face. After waiting about 20 minutes to see if we could get something in Casitas 5, I said never mind - we would take this because it's ready. The quiet pool is right outside our door and we are between bus stops 3 & 4. The room is very nice. I actually am OCD about cleaning so I took a Clorox wipe and started wiping down the tables, etc. and they were so clean.

Now off to DTD for the day!

Can't wait to check out Dig Site when my luggage (and bathing suit) arrive.
:woohoo:

Have a great day!! Is it a far walk to either bus stop from your building?

Thanks for the review!

I believe the bathrooms being locked after hours at the Fitness Center is a safety issue. Also those bathrooms are technically for Fitness Center users, not for kids at the pool so that really is a non-issue. I don't recall seeing any public washrooms at the Ranchos quiet pool when we stayed in 7B two trips ago. I could be wrong here, but I don't think most Disney quiet pools have public washrooms and in theory the quiet pools are for people staying in the imediate area so going to your room to use the washroom shouldn't be an issue.

I can see where waiting in the food line at the pool to fill your mug would be annoying, but it is better than walking over to Cafe Rix the main filling station. At least they offer multiple filling stations, some resorts don't.

I agree with the pricing at PM. We've had FD both stays at CSR so it wasn't an issue and we like PM. However if we didn't have FD I'm not sure I would use PM much.

As far as the rude CM, that is highly uncommon at Disney. One of the things about WDW that always amazes me is how they find so many "happy" people to work there. I can see the workers point, you want them to wait around to lock up while your child uses the washroom which technically is only for Fitness Center users not kids at the quiet pool. I would probably be annoyed as well, but you usually don't get that attitude at Disney.

Sounds like overall you had a good stay with a few minor annoyances.

CSR is a great resort!
