This is my worst question yet but what kind of socks do you guys like to wear for running? I have not found any I like. I am a flip flop/sandals girls so putting on socks and shoes anytime when there is not snow on the ground is hard for me. So what do you use that you like?

I swear by my Puma socks - they are a thick athletic sock - not moisture-wicking - but they work for me :thumbsup2 I bought them a couple years ago at a department store, I think Bon-Ton?

You might have to try a couple different kind of socks to see what works for you - I used to swear by my Old Navy athletic socks until I started running, and for running I need to wear my Puma's!

I'm probably weird, but I wear the 5-toe Iniji socks (medium weight) that you wear with the 5-finger Vibram shoes. I do this because my toes are very close together and when I'm running, a corner of one of my nails sometimes rubs against the toe next to it. It doesn't matter how much I cut/file them - it still happens. So, these socks work like a charm for me! :)

BTW, I wear them with 'regular' running shoes - not the 5-finger shoes. :D

You aren't weird! I've bloodied a few socks on long runs because of that very same thing...it took me a while to figure out what was happening. I never thought of wearing toe socks to prevent it...genius! Fortunately though, filing down the culprit nail in a certain way has worked for me so far.

And for my two cents about sock preference...I love the Nike no-show stability running socks. They are moisture wicking, super thin and have a nice tight weave in the arch for some support. I think someone down there mentioned Balegas too...my BF really likes those.

Hey princesses, any of you on dailymile.com? If so please add me, I am Barbie L on there - the Barbie L in front of the castle this past year's Princess Half looking all giddy! :lmao:

I have not gotten my new socks/sneakers yet, but Jenine got me 2 Bondi Bands for my hair. One says "Birthday Girl" and the other says "This isn't sweat it's liquid awesome" I suspect they will do a much better job keeping the hair & sweat out of my face compared to the stupid cotton headband I was wearing." Hope to have new socks & sneaks before the 5K I want to do on 6/30...

On my blog (in signature) I've got a break down of my last year expenses under a post titled "Grand Opening of the 2013 Princess Fund". I am determined to save up for this year WELL in advance. It's only been a couple of months and I already have $200 socked away in a savings account. I would also recommend the FB site / blog "Couponing To Disney" - lots of great tips on how to add to your Disney Fund and she always alerts as to when there are great sales at the Disney Store or online so that you can stash away "souvenirs" ahead of time. The Princess weekend is VERY expensive but 100% worth it to me. A girl's weekend away in the happiest place on earth, proving my own strength to myself? Truly priceless. :lovestruc

Thanks! I'll check it out! Love that! :goodvibes

I'm a flip flop girl too! I wear them year around. I hate wearing tennis shoes. I've read that cotton is bad. I found some athletic socks at Walmart that are fine for now. I'm sure once I start logging more miles I'll have to find some better socks. I'm going to keep my eye out for those mentioned on here.

I also love my flip flops---have you tried Havaianas. I never knew there was a difference in flip flop quality and comfort until I tried those in Hawaii. Now I embarrassed to mention how many pairs I have.

I might have to check those out! Love me some flip flops! :lovestruc

I need one like that!! :goodvibes I have a WISH Princess one.

Yay!! Bondi bands are quite popular among these parts (WISH boards, anyway). :) Can't wait to hear how your new sock/shoes work out also. :D

I got a coupon in the mail for Dick's, do they have running socks??

The one by my house has running socks! Though I used ebates (love that site) and a 10% off code and ordered some smartwool ones last night from Moosejaw! I just got 2 pairs so I am going to try and find my happy sock place!

On another note, I was looking for a track to use to get my exact mileage and I thought the local middle school would be perfect since it is open all the time. Only issue, it is a 1/8 track!! I don't know why but double the laps is not fun! I am checking out the high school tonight to see if they keep it open to everyone otherwise a couple times a month I will come back to the HS I work at and run there!

I only do speed work at the track, and that is a monthly thing.. The track is SO boring!! Although I must say its better than the treadmill!!
Yes, I would look for a bigger track, too :)

Please add me to the list for doing the Princess 2013 it will be my 3rd.
I PRd this year and how to beat that time in 2013!! Can't Wait!!
I already have enought Southwest points for my plane ticket!

I'm going to have to look for those. I have a nail that always digs into its neighbor toe and draws blood. I have to cut it at a weird angle, but maybe these socks will help (and I won't have to mess up pedicures). Did you get them in a regular store or online?

thanks!

I'm strictly a Nike girl when it comes to shoes and socks, but I have the toe rubbing/cutting problem too, so I may have to invest in some of these 5 finger socks and test how they work for me! Up until now I have just been carefully trimming, filing, and taping the offending toes. If these socks work, that would be so much easier!!

I'll be running the princess half too. I'm another Amy so I think I'll fit right in with this group. :cheer2:

My favorite socks at the moment are smart wool. I also like Feetures and power sox but only the really thin ones.

Pretty soon we might have to call this the Princess AMY Half Marathon!:thumbsup2

I get them at Fit2Run, but I've also bought them online. Amazon, I think.

I like injinji socks and found them easily at my local run store and REI. I used swift wicks for my 1/2. Also do you have enough room on your toe box of your shoes?
I have my race day wardrobe always my CW-X pants and
Either my injinji or swift wicks wool socks and lastly my spi-belt. Shirt always depends on if I like what the race shirt looks like or not.
