2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

Hi all, I am writing this as I sit in the BC lobby waiting for ME (boo).. We had a terrific trip .. I loved the SAB.. I definitely enjoyed BC but I actually liked YC a little bit better.. The weather has been really crazy since we have been here.. But the crowds have been awesome and by awesome I mean, they haven't bothered us at all. We really never waited in any lines, how awesome is that? I will tell you I found people this trip to not be very friendly.. Maybe I'm overly friendly and that freaks people out.. Haha
Teena, I saw you in the lobby on Monday but you were talking to someone and by the time I got back there, you were gone..
I will write more.. I have a lot to say..

I hate waiting for the "sad bus" :sad1: Safe travels home!

Leaving Saturday for my first stay at Coronado Springs (1 night) but more importantly for my first stay at Yacht Club! I booked this kind of last minute and could only stay at Yacht Club with either no discount or an AP-rate CL room for the dates I needed. So, CL it is! Very excited!

One very random question, is there a (not-so) secret exit from the Yacht Club like there is on the side of Beach Club by Epcot?

Hello! I just returned from YC less than two weeks ago and scouted out the "secret entrance" at YC. Wow - I just loved it. In fact, I may have used it even more than the BC "secret entrance" that we use during BC stays. I like how you're right at the marina when you step out of the door - especially when heading for the boat dock - no need to go all the way toward the lobby and back out.

Have a great trip!

Dee asked for photos of the YC secret entrance, which is SO convenient and was right near our room!

When you approach the secret entrance from the outside, the marina is on your left and the wedding gazebo is on your right:

And when using the secret entrance to exit, it's right next to room 1065:

we had similar issues with going to typhoon lagoon last trip it took an hour and almost a half to get us to typhoon lagoon. From now on we will be cabbing it its just not worth the possible headache. I like the idea of the bus being there hoping on but I just hate how its such a huge ? mark of when you will arrive

Same with us. We will try the buses if there is no wait, otherwise we just take a cab.

Sounds like a wonderful trip. Sorry you have to leave. :( Can't wait to read more, especially your thoughts on YC vs BC.

Went out to the dollar store and bought more ponchos. Can't have too many, especially given the weather forecast for next week!!! :(

Our Keens arrived today. They will remain on my feet until we leave. :) Super comfortable, and DD's are really cute.

The kids are working on the Mousekeeping envelopes. This one is my favourite so far:

I need ziplock bags and sunglasses and goggles. Otherwise I don't think I have to buy anything else. I have a big pile of stuff in the closet but nothing put into a suitcase yet... :)

Just noticed she spelled mousekeeping wrong. Kids today. :lmao: In her defence, the kids are in French Immersion so their English spelling needs work! LOL

Has anyone ever gone from the BC to the Amway Centre for an NBA Game? DS is talking about going to see the Magic play one evening. I checked online and it looks like $50 cab fare each way. Ack.

I'm a little torn about this. I love good coffee, and really haven't found much at Disney, but I'd hate to see name brands all over the place. I'm hoping that they can integrate this in very subtle ways, so that you only know it's Starbucks by the napkins or something else not too noticeable.

I, on the other hand, am ridiculously excited about the Starbucks news. :) I make my own cappuccinos at home, and when I go out, I am picky picky about my coffee. Starbucks is the next best thing to my own (though, honestly, it really doesn't compare ;) ), so I'm thrilled to know this will be an option for us. I'm probably more thrilled that it's an option for my husband, who works nights because he is "nocturnal" (self-proclaimed) and the thought of him being in the parks before noon without a Starbucks makes me a bit frightened. :scared1:

I resemble that remark! You and I would probably get along great. ;)

The Magical Depress :sad1:

What a great idea! I need to see if I can get my kids to do that. Probably not the 10-year-old (who hates artwork in any form), but I bet the 6-year-old would do it!

I love reading this thread...it's so much fun to learn and live vicariously through all of you! Still catching up, though...once I am finally done, I'm going to start researching restaurants and trying to decide which ADRs to make. It's been so long since I've been there, I have no clue where to begin!

Just returned from a 6 night stay at BCV's. the good: SAB was open, bell services and valet were terrific. The bad: mousekeeping and condition of the villas (we stayed in 2 different ones). Could not get any dishwasher soap after calling mousekeeping 2 times and asking at the front desk. Mousekeeping came on the wrong day for trash and towel service. The ugly: front desk/check-in. For some reason, if you give them a cell phone number with online checkin and/or when you actually get there, they call your home phone to tell you the room is ready. So, we waited hours to get the call that our room was ready both times and the call never came to our cell phone. So, when you check-in, ask them to text you when the room is ready instead of a phone call.

I am actually very excited about the coffee too. I am just hoping to not see the name splashed everywhere. I am curious to see how they integrate the brand. No matter what, at least we'll have good coffee:thumbsup2

Good luck with your ADRs:) if you have any questions, be sure to ask here.

Me, too! It's not like "Nescafe" wasn't a name brand. At least I like the stuff from Starbucks! :rotfl:

DTD bus service just stinks no matter the resort - we've never had a good experience so for us it's rental car or cab - well worth the $ ;)

We had our 1st email back from the BC/YC Club level staff and it just felt so good - really just getting very very excited about this trip!

Very true -- we have had horrible experiences getting to DTD from both the Poly and the GF. You would think that Disney would make it easier to get there and spend $$$. As it is, we often just skip DTD because it's so hard to get to.

Bummer, hope it didn't spoil the rest of the trip for you and your family. Glad you enjoyed SAB at its fullest.

Weather actually looks pretty good. Isolated thunderstorms don't mean much. Though now you make me question wether I should bring extra ponchos or rain jackets just in case!
