Any DREAM Concierge Reviews?

:yay::yay::yay: This is our Suite!! Thanks for the great photos!!:goodvibes

Was that prosciutto? DGD will be so happy!:thumbsup2

It was! And mortadella and a nice crudo, too. The cheeses weren't too bad, either. I did love that suite! I was hoping to cruise again in a suite, but am having to settle for a concierge-level ocean-view room, because I'm cruising solo and can't afford the suite on my own.

You're welcome! We did like the room, even though we really didn't spend much time in it! :goodvibes The pictures I have give you a pretty good idea of how tight it is with the pull out couch open to get to the balcony. I would definitely recommend this cabin to watch the fireworks from...awesome view right out on the balcony!

Your kids are adorable! Did they enjoy the concierge sundeck area? I'd wondered if my little ones (4 and 2) would think it was fun up there or just a super-boring "mommy place" where they'd only last for a couple minutes.

Thank you! To be honest we were only up there waiting for the special character meet & greet w/Goofy that they ended up moving inside. They had fun for about 20 minutes but there really wasn't much to do for them besides lounge in the big fun chairs. They probably would've lasted an hour or so if I brought some of the coloring pages from the lounge...so if yours like to color there's an endless supply they can choose from.

Yes, please.... I'm tired of hearing about how rotten and pathetic the service is... I know they do not and will not put inexperienced staff for concierge guests.

Yes, you would think that this would be true, but we just got off the Wonder concierge and our stateroom host seemed to be very new, didn't seem to know what should be in the room (LOTS of things missing when we got there), and had a very snippy attitude no matter how nice we were...

Actually years ago, my parents were in the suite on the Magic and asked their stateroom host if it was a promotion to service the suites. He said it was quite the opposite. The senior stateroom attendants chose the inside staterooms because they were smaller and they got more of them and thus got more tips. I know without a doubt that our service was better two cruises in a Cat 4 and 5 than in the Suite.

I am sorry you don't like hearing negative reports, but people are only telling the truth sometimes.

My entire family went on a cruise last December. My parents' suite was port-side and my sister's and my suite's were starboard. Our concierge, Tawanda, was wonderful - very attentive, friendly, pixie-dustish (he even sent us souffles from Palo). My parents saw their concierge twice the entire cruise - the initial meet-and-greet on embarkation day and then at the concierge cocktail party. Tawanda took care of everything they needed, because their concierge was never around.

Very excited, first the Giants won, second I won some money, so we upgraded to the family with concierge, cabin 12510.

I will surprise the kids on valentines day.

Thank you all for the help and photos.

Thank you very much, we try to teach them the right things to do.

We just returned from our first ever Disney Cruise. We stayed in suite 12014 on the concierge level.

The pluses:

Melanie, Rodrigo & Panos were all outstanding concierges. They are friendly and helpful. Really, I NEVER experienced any staff that wasn't friendly. They were all nice - we even had one lady offer to show our daughter where the restroom by the pool was located. I feel bad for the staff - they are on 6 month contracts that have them working EVERY day. They do get 2 months off at the end, but still, that is a hard life to live. It made me feel guilty for trying to relax when they are working very hard.

Kids Club was incredible - my daughter (age 5) loved going - she felt very grown up and independent. The club is stocked with staff, so they are safe. The security system for them is top notch. My only complaint would be the art - my daughter loves her art, but we were rarely ever able to locate it when I picked her up. Maybe they could have cubes with different letters so it could be stored by first name.

Castaway Cay is an absolutely gorgeous island. We loved our day there. The food was terrible (see that in the negatives to follow), but the drinks were good, the beach was great and the sting ray adventure was perfect. I would consider (if money is not an issue) a private cabana next time. We didn't do it, but it would have been nice as the sun is strong and the umbrellas are mostly taken. This is one port that the next time I will get up early and off the boat as soon as possible. It is worth it!

Negatives:

Pools are small and really crowded. My daughter could have cared less, but it did gross me out to think of all those kids peeing in that water.

Food was not good. Now, I did have a great beef tenderloin in the Royal Dining room, but the potatoes were dry as was the bread. This was our favorite dining room. We did Pirate Night in Animators Palate. The food was terrible, but that was specific to the Pirate Night menu. Next time I would skip the Pirate Night on rotation and go to Remy. We had a great meal there. It was a very unique experience with very good food and an outstanding view (we went right at sunset). Service was excellent at Remy as well. Our servers for rotational dining were very nice, but often too busy to spend much time with us. They were working their tail's off. If you want a pre dinner cocktail - either go to a bar on the boat, concierge lounge or get to dinner early so you are first for drink orders. Dinner is a bit of a rush, but this may be because we were at the first seating. We really longed for a good hot breakfast (buffet was weak - biscuits were good, but eggs were gross) and we also really longed for something specifically cooked because we ordered it. The food is all mass produced (except at Remy). Room service was weak too - small portions and only warm when delivered. I really wasn't surprised the food was weak as I had read about it before hand, and this is Disney and they are feeding the masses. Castaway Cay has cookies bar-b-q. It was weak as well. My daughter took one bite of her burger and spit it out. My husband did say the snapper was good, but my hotdog was just okay. The only thing I found on the boat that I couldn't get enough of were the egg salad sandwich bites in the concierge lounge and the oatmeal cookies via room service.

Conclusion/pointers:

We had a great time and the boat is stunning. Everything was spotlessly clean and the staff very friendly. I would skip leaving the boat in Nassau as it is a dump/tourist trap close to the ship. Castaway Cay was wonderful and worth leaving the boat. We enjoyed Skyline bar the most. Really, most of the bars are empty and they have great drinks. Watch the fireworks from deck 13 at the front of the boat. No crowds at all. Front elevators are the least crowded. Concierge level was wonderful as you really escaped the crowds. It was like having a section of the ship all to yourself. Other things we loved - the tv in the mirror of the bathroom - my daughter would take an hour bath watching Beauty and the Beast. All the Disney on demand programming on the tv was a real treat. Ride the aquaduck late at night or early in the morning when the lines are short. It is a lot of fun! They should have two on the next boat they build. We really loved the boat. There is so much to do and honestly not enough time to relax! We will go back and will definitely do concierge if money allows. I read about perks in concierge - gifts to room, etc. We never had gifts during the day, but we did receive a lithograph at the end. I also read complaints about the gates. I personally like the gates. It is a premium to stay in that area and it was nice to have the area kept private.

The ship is a nod back to the glorious ships of the early 1900's. I found myself in awe of its beauty. I did find myself longing for some divine food, but the fun we all had made up for that weakness.

One other thing, if you are traveling with a handicap person who can use a non accessible room, but needs a walker to ambulate, consider getting an accessible room. The door to the cabin was about 2 inches too narrow for my husband's walker and the doors are really heavy. He struggled getting in and out of the room.

Glad you had an overall good time.

We did Pirate Night in Animators Palate. The food was terrible, but that was specific to the Pirate Night menu. Next time I would skip the Pirate Night on rotation and go to Remy.

We found the food not as good on pirate night as the other nights. It is always our least favorite menu. Next time you can also try the late night buffet, we like it a bit better, still mass produced but not bad.

We really longed for a good hot breakfast (buffet was weak - biscuits were good, but eggs were gross) and we also really longed for something specifically cooked because we ordered it.

I think 12014 is a 1 bedroom, next time try ordering breakfast to the room. We usually do that every morning, we also like to go to the dining room for breakfast, they will definitely cook things to order for you there. Another thing that a lot of people don't realize is that even at the breakfast buffet (not on debarkation day) you can get made to order omelets and made to order eggs.

The food is all mass produced (except at Remy).

There is also Palo, next time try it too, not as fancy as Remy but very good. If you are doing a longer cruise do the Palo Brunch we love it even more than dinner.

I read about perks in concierge - gifts to room, etc. We never had gifts during the day, but we did receive a lithograph at the end.

To be honest this is more so on the classic ships. We got some little surprises for our DD like arcade cards. Usually on the classic ships you get little snacks, or chocolate covered strawberries. Since the Dream class ships have a lounge pretty much all that stuff is available to you most of the day. Honestly I would trade all the little gifts on the classic ship if they would add a lounge.

If anyone is interested, here are pictures of Suite 12506 (a starboard bump-out) with pictures from the lounge, too.

thanks for sharing the pictures!!

a question for you - if you had your choice between 12506 (the room you had) and 12512, the other starboard bump out one bedroom, which would you take and why?

we're currently in 12512, but i could switch us to 12506 - it's still available.

I was looking at your pictures, and i thought it might be nicer to have the verandah layout of 12506 - so that you can sit facing forwards on the day at sea and see where you're headed...
or is it too windy on that verandah exactly because it's facing more forward?

too much choice is not a good thing - if 12506 wasn't available i wouldn't have to think about it!!

I can tell you that 12512 is absolutely wonderful! We had that on the Dream in February, and will have 12506 in 12 days on the Fantasy.

In 12512 you are mere steps to the Concierge Lounge. I totally loved the lounge!

There were times it was windy on the veranda, so I suspect that can be the case no matter which one.

I am one who will miss the gates.

have a wonderful time on the Fantasy!!!!!! i'm totally jealous!!

i'd love to hear your comparison of the two verandahs - one sort of facing forward so you can see where you're going, the other sort of facing back...

if 12506 is still available after your cruise, i'll switch if you think it was nicer that way (and then blame it on you if i don't like it - ;) )

i haven't been on the Dream yet, but i think i might like the concierge gates.
I know that when i'm in a hotel with concierge, i always like that the concierge area is gated (or in some cases, you need a key to get the elevator to take you to the floor).

and i'm guessing i'm going to love the concierge lounge as well.
That was one of our few complaints when we were on the Wonder - no concierge lounge. They tried to tell us that there was food all over the ship anyway, but i didn't buy it. i thought a lounge would be much nicer!

by the way, do you have any pictures of your verandah in 12512?

..

I think I would stick with 12506. It's a few steps away from the lounge door, so there's not a lot of traffic at the door. There wasn't a lot of wind on my cruise (January 8-12, 2012), so I loved spending time on the veranda. I would grab a snack in the lounge and head back to my room to sit on the veranda and eat, read, relax . . . *sigh*

If you want to watch the fireworks from your veranda, though, 12512 might be better. My view was good, but blocked a bit by the bump-out. The fireworks are mid-ship and 12506 is on the other side of the bump. On my next cruise (PCC 4.0), I'm in a non-suite concierge (can't justify the additional $3000 for the suite :(), but I'm in the middle of the bump. Can't wait!!

thanks! i hate making decisions!!!

We were in 12516 on a recent Dream cruise and totally loved the concierge floor and lounge. Panos, Tom and Eddie were great and any questions/requests we had they were able to answer or get for us. The lounge had snacks all day long along with various selection of pop and bottle water. There was also a fruit basket in our room when we arrived. Jose was our stateroom host and I cannot say enough good things about Jose.... I'm sure that whatever room you decide on you will be happy with it. Enjoy the experience.:goodvibes
