We're back & better than ever - Complete!

Thanks for your Flying Fish review :)
We've chosen not to get the DP for our next trip as it's often the case that the appetisers appeal to me more than the entrees and I could happily make a meal out of two appertisers :)

Ah, the joys of not being on the DDP: eating dessert only when you feel like it, not feeling pressured to order the steak, and being able to get all appetizers instead of an entree. :goodvibes

I don't think two appetizers would fill me though - I'd need at least 3.

Thanks for sharing your appy pictures of Flying Fish. I've had my mind set on having that salad and I'm now sold. It looks delicious.

I had to pick my jaw up from the floor, wrench myself free and compliment you on your AMAZING!!!!!! Photography:worship::worship:
Love the reviews, but oh my goodness; the pictures!

Wow, such great photos. You have visited some of my favorite spots. I got turned on to AP and Flying Fish on my last trip thanks to your dining reviews. I can't wait to go back and try some of your selections. Thanks again.

It was definitely delicious - I normally wouldn't have ordered this compared to the other appetizers, but it was so worth it. :thumbsup2

I'm glad you enjoy AP and Flying Fish so much! They're both such wonderful places to eat at, and Flying Fish has clearly grown on us over time. :goodvibes

On Wednesday I had lunch at one of my favorite 1-credit places, Le Cellier. Le Cellier is certainly a polarizing restaurant, with many people loving it far more than I do, but also people who absolutely despise it with all the universe's wrath (those people kind of scare me - it's just a restaurant ). I've personally had great experiences and just okay meals here, but the good meals are good enough that I want to return. :)

Le Cellier just updated the lunch menu within the past few days (the new lunch menu is visible on the official Disney World website), but the menu below is what I had to choose from on March 7th.

As usual, the meal started out with Le Cellier's bread basket. I'm not one of those people who thinks the pretzel bread is the most amazing bread ever. That said, I really appreciate a bread basket that has variety, and Le Cellier's is quite unique. The pretzel bread is delightfully soft and salty. However, this time I ended up enjoying the crunchy, nutty multigrain bread slightly more (and as usual, the sourdough was neglected ). Compared to other 1-credit locations (and even some signatures), this is a great bread basket IMO. :thumbsup2

I decided to skip appetizers and desserts, instead getting an entree and side dish. Here's the maple glazed salmon with roasted root vegetables, braised greens, and grain mustard sauce.

This was delicious. The menu description sounded similar to Artist Point's salmon, but the two dishes turned out to be quite different (which I like, since it meant there was less of a direct comparison to be made). This entree had a stronger flavor of garlic, and the mustard sauce added both a sweetness and slight heat. The vegetables were very savory, such as the swiss chard underneath, and the maple flavor wasn't overpowering. Artist Point's salmon was more beautifully presented and a sweeter dish, but this was also beautifully presented and was a strong dish on its own. As usual, I'm very impressed with the food that Le Cellier serves compared to other 1-credit locations.

My side dish was the brussels sprouts with bacon butter. Brussels sprouts and bacon are a delicious combination, and this side dish didn't disappoint.

This was one of my best lunches at Le Cellier. The service was very friendly, and all the food was great. And with the recent changes to the lunch menu (they added a duck confit crêpe with duck prosciutto, fennel, and candied orange :lovestruc), I'm even more excited to return here in the future. I don't awe over this place for the cheese soup and maple crème brûlée, but I've found plenty of other dishes here that make Le Cellier worth returning to. :goodvibes

I love your LeCellier review. I didn't know that they updated their lunch menu. I have to say that salmon entree will be something I'll like to try on upcoming trip.

I also totally agree with you that LeCellier is well loved by me since IMO, they are the best 1TS credit, theme park restaurant. :lovestruc I've had just ok meals and I've had amazing meals there also. I haven't had really bad meal there yet so I'm taking my extended family there for lunch upcoming trip! :thumbsup2

Outstanding reviews! I feel like I'm there!
I'm glad the reviews make you feel that way! That's always part of the fun of reading dining reviews. :goodvibes

The salmon entree I ordered doesn't seem to be on the menu right now - the new dish is a miso-glazed salmon dish that also sounds quite good.

I agree about Le Cellier - it's easily one of WDW's best 1-credit restaurants IMO, even some items on the menu aren't as impressive as others. I think it's a great choice to take your extended family! :goodvibes

Great reviews! I'm a lover of Le Cellier...and my husband is an over the top lover of Le Cellier! haha

Thanks for reading! I think there's nothing wrong with loving the food at Le Cellier (and nothing wrong with disliking it either, even though I think some people hate the place with a bizarre amount of intensity). No, it might not be the world's greatest steakhouse (and it certainly isn't priced that way, especially at lunch), but it has its own serious merits IMO (especially relative to other Disney restaurants). Even the often-ridiculed dinner menu has earned my respect; it's simpler than some of the other signatures (like Narcoosee's), but I still think it's less overpriced than Narcoossee's or Cali Grill (especially with Cali Grill's prices rising at a ridiculous rate). :)

I always feel awful for saying it but LC was without doubt the worst meal we have ever had at WDW
I am sure that we just hit a bad night as it seems that reviews are generally positive
I didn't base our review on value but the food was just terrible :(
One day we will give it another go and your review convinces me that we should :)

I remember your review, and it was easily one of the worst I've ever seen of Le Cellier. Most of the negative comments about Le Cellier are basically that the place is "mediocre" or failed to meet their high expectations (due to the incredible hype that this place has built up); your meal just sounded completely off. Hopefully a second meal there would show you what they're capable of (or at least whether that first meal was a fluke or not).

At WDW, we've been to lots of restaurants where our first meal was disappointing: California Grill, Flying Fish, Yachtsman, Sanaa, etc. In fact, we've had disappointing meals almost everywhere (including the occasional awful meal at Citricos, Artist Point, Jiko, etc). But by giving them second (and sometimes third and fourth ) chances, we wound up having some of our best WDW meals. I appreciate that you have an open mind and would try Le Cellier again eventually. :)

Joining in--my favorite ever dining experience at Disney was at the Chef's Bar at Flying Fish on a solo trip in December 2009.

I really enjoyed my experience sitting at the Flying Fish chef's counter. Someday I'd like to have the chef's counter tasting menu as well - it sounds amazing. :goodvibes

Ditto! Totally agree with you about Le Cellier. :thumbsup2 We too have had some so-so meals there but also have had some very good ones. And overall, the hits seem to have outnumbered the misses. To me the steaks are just average to good (not great), but I love both the salmon (I've had two different versions so far, as they seem to frequently change it) and the burger for lunch.

Oh, and still looking forward to finding out what's for dinner tonight? :surfweb:
