Making all of Mitchell's *WISHES* come true! MAW Pre-Trip Report!

Mitchell's Wishes

-Meet Flynn Rider
-Go on the Safari
-Character meal daily
-Pirate's League
-Ride the monorail
-Pet a dolphin
-Hoop Dee Doo Review
-Play at the beach
-Go down a waterslide

These are the things he has requested so far and I'm sure he'll add more as we go on. I am going to do my best to make most of them happen, but they all aren't going to be possible. A character meal every day definitely won't happen, but I'm trying to plan as many as possible. Now that it has been confirmed that we are staying at GKTW, I'm trying to plan our days to hit breakfast and dinner at GKTW to save some money. I think Flynn Rider may not happen either since his visits to the park are hit or miss.

I'm tweaking our schedule a little right now and then I'll post our tentative schedule...which of course, is subject to change A LOT over the next 2 months! :thumbsup2:

Yeah, from what I've been reading, Flynn doesn't do the meet & greets anymore.

You could shoot for a character meal @ each park or maybe Chef Mickey's since you can hop on the Monorail from MK to get there and the Hoop Dee Doo show and be good probably.

Since he's 5 he probably likes the Disney Junior guys, right?

I scheduled our character meals to have the biggest range of characters.
CP-Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, & Piglet, CRT-Ariel, Cinderella, Belle, Aurora & Snow White, Hollywood & Vine-Handy Manny, Oso, Jake from the Neverland Pirates, & June (all Disney junior guys). Tusker House, Donald, Goofy, Daisy & Mickey

We've done Chef Mickey's before, and thought about it again this time, but couldn't book it. Epcot has a few character meal choices I think. We're not doing a character meal there, just a regular sit-down meal.

Everything else sounds totally do able. You'll have to call to make your reservation at the Pirate League, they don't do those online.

I'm bummed about Flynn! I thought he at least did them once in awhile! :sad1:

He is 5, but he's actually not into the Disney Jr characters much anymore. He thinks he's too old for them, but occasionally he will watch Oso, so I think H&V is out. He specifically requested Crystal Palace and I think we're going to try to do Tusker House, O'hana, 1900 Park Fare, Cape May and Garden Grill. They are all for breakfast, except Tusker House which is lunch and Garden Grill for dinner. That's 6 character meals, which is a lot!

I'll try to call this week to get the Pirate League scheduled. Hopefully they have availability!

Yeah, all the character meet & greet schedules and everything I've seen says no Flynn. www.kennythepirate.com has great info on the characters.

I don't think 6 is a lot for the amount of time you're going. We're doing 4. And CRT is one of them. For the 4 of us when I figured up the pricing for the character meals, its close to $100 per meal, give or take. It's totally worth it.

Cooper is just turning 4 and he loves all the Disney Junior Stuff, I think Keira is that thrilled about it, LOL!

For some reason, I absolutely forgot that my 5 year old changes his mind all the time! He is now saying he doesn't want to meet Flynn. :confused3

Oh and I went through all of the dining reservations and you were right....he wants to do H&V. Despite not watching the shows anymore, he really wants to see Handy Manny and Oso. This could be part of his new anxiety though - he doesn't want to meet anyone new, only characters he has seen before and he has seen those 2 before.

I'm sure he'll change his mind again next month and I'll be in a panic to change dining reservations! :goodvibes

I love Mitchells list ! He has some great plans. :thumbsup2

As far as tweaking the plans .. I tweak my plans almost daily .. I can't seem to come to any final decisions ! Things keep coming up and I find myself changing things over and over.

Joining in on your thread....what a great little boy you have and a truly amazing family! Looking forward to hearing all about your upcoming trip. We are heading down next week for a short visit - anything I can check out or pick up for you just let me know.

You haven't mentioned anything further on your Mom. How is she doing? My Mother went through breast cancer 2 years ago - PM me if you have any questions. Saying prayers for her and your entire family.

I have a feeling mine will be getting a daily tweaking also! Oh well, it's keeping me busy and in the Disney mood! :rotfl:

Thanks for joining in! My mother is doing very well, thank you for asking. Luckily, they caught it early so she was able to have a lumpectomy a couple of weeks ago and she will be starting radiation in the next couple of weeks. She is officially cancer free at this point and we're praying it stays that way! :yay::yay:

I think we have a tentative schedule set.

Day 1: GKTW
Day 2: Epcot
Day 3: Magic Kingdom
Day 4: Animal Kingdom
Day 5: Universal
Day 6: Universal
Day 7: Seaworld / Check out of GKTW
Day 8: Hollywood Studios
Day 9: Epcot
Day 10: Magic Kingdom
Day 11: Mitchell's Choice / Fly home late

I haven't done ANY research on Universal and I don't think Mitchell even knows what/who Harry Potter is...and neither my husband nor I have read the books or seen the movies, so that's not a draw either. Right now, we are thinking those will be really short days, the second day is up in the air right now also. For those of you who have been to Universal - are there enough things to do there for a 5 year old? Any must see things? We are much more of a Disney family, so I don't know whether to go to Universal since we have the free tickets or add a couple extra days onto our Disney tickets, which wouldn't cost much at all. Maybe I should go check out what Universal has to offer :goodvibes

There isn't much at Universal he'll be able to ride.

At IOA there is Dr. Seuss Landing and the Marvel Super Heros are there too.

We are skipping Universal all together, but just doing IOA because there is more things the kids can ride.

I think we have a tentative schedule set.

Our family is very Disney oriented too. I think that if he knows more of the universal characters, it would make it more exciting for him? I'd go for extra Disney days!!!!!!

Our house has been hit with non-stop illness! Everyone is passing it back and forth. The twins were battling something all week and then their fevers went up so we went to the doctor on Friday. Mason has an ear infection and Mallory has a sinus infection. If they weren't sleeping, they were crying, so it was very challenging.

Then I had to take Mitchell to the ER Friday night to get IV fluids - not related to this illness, just his normal GI issues. Let me just say - my little boy is a trooper! They were calling him superman the whole time because he doesn't even flinch during bloodwork or putting in an IV.

This all happened when Kyle was out of town, so thankfully my mom came to help me out. Kyle got home on Saturday, just in time for me to get sick and I haven't been out of bed since. Whew!

I'll do a proper PTR update as soon as I get out of bed! :goodvibes

Ohhh, and a little bragging....Mitchell had baseball tryouts on Saturday. He may be the smallest kid in the league, but he has a rocket for an arm! The kids were in a line fielding ground balls and then throwing them back to one of the coaches, while the other coaches were watching and taking notes. When it was Mitchell's turn, he stepped up, caught the ball and whiped it back to the coach. I saw the coaches smiling and talking to each other, but couldn't hear what they were saying. After tryouts, I asked Mitchell what they said when he threw the ball back. He said one of the coaches said, "Wow, who is that?" and the other one said, "Forget about it, he's mine!" :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: He has definitely found his sport! He loves it and he is a natural!

So sorry to hear your family is feeling yucky ! We had a tummy bug here last week and it seemed to hit the littlest one and my mom the worst.
I hope everyone is feeling better soon. :goodvibes

I'm a little late to the party but I hope you don't mind me joining in. Your children are gorgeous! I hope you have a fabulous time.

We're all finally starting to feel better. The tummy bug is going around our area also, and I'm crossing my fingers we don't get that one too!

Welcome!! Thanks for joining in! You aren't too late for the party because we're just getting started! :goodvibes

I have been trying to get Mitchell to pick his favorite characters and every time I ask him, he always says "All of them!" I wanted to narrow it down a bit more, for planning purposes, so I played a game with him last night. I printed out all of the Meet & Greet Characters at Disney and I had him put them in order from which ones he really had to see and which it would be ok for him not to see. This was more difficult than you would expect because he had reasons he liked all of them and "I can't really pick between this one or that one because sometimes I'm in the mood for one and sometimes I'm in the mood for the other!"

In order, this is what his favorites are:

Power Rangers (which I didn't know was Disney???), Flynn Rider, Captain Jack Sparrow, The Incrediables, Lilo & Stitch, Lion King, Aladdin, Tigger, Toy Story, Little Einsteins.....and it went on and on and on. The only one he said he didn't like was Belle, because "that's a princess and I don't like princesses". You may not now little buddy, but just wait! :rotfl:

I had no idea Power Rangers were Disney either until we saw them at DHS. Although I have to say their costumes are a little much... they are very tight in all the wrong places :sad2:

Power Rangers aren't there anymore. Look at kennythepirate.com for a list and location of all the characters that do meet & greets at the park. Flynn isn't meeting either, we did see Rapunzel, but no Flynn.

The rest of his list he should be able to see most of them.

I can't get the picture to show up right now, but my access is limited at work, so I'll try again tonight when I get home.

I've been reading through a couple trip reports the past few days and they are making me even more excited for Mitchell's upcoming trip!

We have made a few changes to our schedule, but it's still basically the same. I decided to cut back to 1 day at Universal/IOA because Mitchell and I watched some of the Universal planning videos and he doesn't want to go on anything scary and he doesn't like 3D/4D. I think we can get it all accomplished in 1 day, but we have some "choice days" built in just in case.

Day 1: GKTW
Day 2: Epcot
Day 3: Magic Kingdom - Crystal Palace (breakfast) - Haircuts for the boys at MK
Day 4: Animal Kingdom - Tusker House (lunch)
Day 5: Universal
Day 6: Hollywood Studios - Hollywood & Vine (Lunch)
Day 7: Seaworld / Check out of GKTW & into WBC
Day 8: Beach/Pool/Universal/Disney - depends on how tired we are - Hoop Dee Doo (Mitchell's most requested event!)
Day 9: Epcot - Cape May (breakfast) - Garden Grill (dinner)
Day 10: Magic Kingdom - O'hana (breakfast) - Pirates league
Day 11: Mitchell's Choice / Fly home late

I was excited when I found the barber shop in Magic Kingdom! We'll have Mason's first hair cut done there and Mitchell wants to get his done also.
