AGLET – We're Gonna Tour The World Together! Updated 11/9!!!

Looking forward to reading about Citricos! I don't know when we'll ever get to try it, but I love hearing about it!

It was our first time at Citricos! Review coming up soon...but not without a bit of a pre-story before (it wouldn't be a report of ours without something happening!)

I love the Monsters Inc Laugh Floor :lovestruc I love the TTA too. Astro Orbiter was so much higher and faster than I expected it to be!! I can't wait to hear about Citricos :)

I love both of them too!! I'm too wary of the Astro Orbiter though!

You just wrote about two of my favorite things in just one installment....Monster's Inc and the People Mover. I always laugh at the Eiffel Tower joke and think that riding on the People Mover is super relaxing. As far as the padded seats go, I always thought that Disney had the hard plastic/fiberglassy/whatever seats so that they could spray 'em down when they need a good washing.

They're two of my favorites too!!

That makes sense about the seats. They'd definitely be easier to clean than the padded or fabric ones!

I can't believe I missed your last update? (the 3/1 update) What the heck. :confused3 That is so not like me. All I can figure is I must have known you were writing about getting stuck on IASW because, like Wingnut, that is on my list of the top ten things I don't want to happen at Disney. That song....over .....and ....over......and...... It happened to me once and that was enough. The worst part of that was we were trying desperately to get on last ride on Splash before the park closed. We barely made it.

Love you shoe picture - cute sneakers. :goodvibes

I seriously can't believe you bagged on my favorite lunch place in the MK. Horrors. :rotfl: Next time!

Glad you decided to hit HS for a bit.

Can't wait to read about Citricos.

Hahaha I'd hate to be stuck on any ride, but that one ranks higher because of the repetitive singing! At least you made it to Splash! (Although it's funny you raced over to more singing animatronics after that! :rotfl:)

Thanks!! They're from Kohls!

I'm sorry!! There was just no way we could face a heavy lunch, especially with dinner at Citricos coming up!

Oh, I love the Laugh Floor, probably because of my schoolgirl crush on Sully. It never fails to make me laugh! And the deep intellectual padded cushion conversation had me chuckling, too! :lmao:

I'm sure someone without an ADR was very glad you guys cancelled yours, so you actually did a random act of kindness.

I can't wait to hear a Stringbean & Wingnut review of Citricos!

Hahaha it always makes me laugh too!! It's too bad that Sully isn't in the show that much!

:rotfl: Oh, it is a classic Stringbean & Wingnut tale...

Wait a minute, now. I could have sworn in our visit there he said Michigan was the home of the Eiffel Tower! I'm so confused! :crazy2:

John, Brooklynn, and I rode it in December. The worst part to me is the elevator. :scared:

That would have been a whole lot of eating!

We do, too. A boat ride is something fun, especially for the girls, and more unique than just a bus ride.

Hahahaha there must be more than one!! :rotfl:

The elevator part is scaring me off just as much as the ride itself, I'll admit!

Yeah, it was at the point that even we were like "this will be way too much food!"

The boats are fun and a nice break from the buses!

Yay the Peoplemover!!! I love that ride sooooo much!

Aww, that's too bad you had to cancel LTT, I love that place for lunch! Although 3 TS in one day is a bit much! See, this is why I don't like that new stupid credit card guarantee, if you don't cancel some places 24 hours in advance they charge you $10 per person, and that's kind of messed up! Ah well! :confused3

I love taking boats around Disney! No, they don't play destination specific music, but they do play a pretty awesome mix of Disney music, which is fine by me! I love the WL>MK boats...there's nothing better than listening to "Under the Sea" on the way to the Magic Kingdom on a boat in the morning!

So do I!! LTT really did look great for lunch, but I guess I thought we'd be hungrier then! That does stink about the new credit card guarantee. I get why they do it at the 2 credit places, but doing it for most of the restaurants really does cramp people's style!

I didn't know that the boats from Wilderness Lodge played music!! None of the boats I've been on played music! (Or I just didn't notice!)

Hahha I love that joke too. I mean I always forget the jokes in between seeing the show, but even though I remember it as SOON as they say it, I still can't help but laugh. I love the corny, I tell ya.

TTA! Oh, um... PhilharMagic has padded seats! And Space Mountain of course. (Oh, no? Just kidding.)

Boat rides at Disney are always so nice and relaxing. Ahhh. :lovestruc Darn... why can't the boats play along? Hahha next time yall will have to hum some music to make up for it. :thumbsup2

Hahaha same here! Corny, predictable humor? I'm there! :thumbsup2

I forgot about Philharmagic! That does have padded seats!

Hahaha I wonder how Wingnut would react if I started playing the role of sound system on the boats? :rotfl: ("There's a great big beautiful tomorrow...")

Love the Peoplemover! The Laugh Floor is fun too. I haven't been to LTT but those things you mentioned are my 2 reasons it is on my wish list (Fried Cheese and the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake)

Don't the fried cheese and toffee cake sound awesome? Someday, I am determined to eat there!!

Padded seats are at a premium in the Magic Kingdom -- I never really thought of that before!

Yeah, those breakfast buffets always fill me up, too. What was the interesting snack you opted for or is that in the next update? :goodvibes

Oh, and the AstroOrbiter -- only the thrill seekers in my house (Charles and Chelsea) will ride it -- Connor and I are big chickens. :lmao:

Hahaha they are!! I got so excited whenever we'd find comfy seats!

Snack will be in the next update, one we'd never tried before!

Hahaha I'm a big chicken too, no shame in it!!

I love Monster's Inc! We missed it last March, so it is high up on my list for Nov.!

Disney probably doesn't want people to get comfy in their seats... they want them up and moving... in to a gift shop!

You forgot a padded seat... Philharmagic. ;)

Wow. You must of been flying!!!! :scared1:
:lmao::lmao:

Hahaha that's something there's definitely no lack of in Disney, the gift shops!!

Philharmagic does have padded seats too, you're right! :thumbsup2

Hahaha no, I'm just bad at indoor photography! :rotfl:

Subbing

Its been a long while since I have been around and was so excited to see one of your TR's to greet me! :goodvibes

Moving westward (or is it east? Right-ward?)

Tomorrowland-ward.

Moving in the direction of Tomorrowland (that works! :thumbsup2), we stopped off at one of our favorites, the Monster's Inc Laugh Floor.

You know, we've never done this! I have no idea why. We've done that stupid Stitch one but not this. Looks fun!

I think you all can guess where we went after that:

The filled-with-thrills Tomorrowland Transit Authority!! ;)

I'm kidding, I love the TTA! It's so lovely and breezy and the seats are padded! :thumbsup2

Hey, where are your pink converses? Though I do like the rainbow laces on these ones! Love love love the TTA! It's so laid back and enjoyable going from one attraction to another.

Castle!! I see the castle!!

Cool shot!:thumbsup2

A pathetic attempt at taking a picture of Progress City.

Second attempt. I think this one's worse.

Clearly photography is your calling...:rolleyes1 Kidding! It's hard to get low light, moving shots. I kind of like the cool blur you have going on though!

"We have lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern in a few minutes." I reminded Wingnut, while relaxing on padded cushion comfort.

"Okay."

I realized, though, that the one plate at Crystal Palace earlier that morning was much more filling than I had thought.

"Are you hungry?" I asked Wingnut.
"Not really. Are you?"
"No."

I don't know why, but all of yours and Wingnut's discussions make me chuckle!

While I had been really looking forward to lunch at LTT (Fried cheese! Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake!), well, I was much less in the mood for a heavy meal than I had anticipated 180 days prior. Same with Wingnut. We decided to forego our ADR there (yes, I called Disney Dining and cancelled it), and seek out an intriguing snack instead.

Whew, I was about to call the DIS police! Seriously, when we've done the DxDP, we all felt like we were forcing ourselves to eat even when we weren't THAT hungry. Lesson learned, we'll do OOP next trip.

While on the TTA, we noticed the crowds starting to get denser around the area. We decided to take a spin on Buzz Lightyear, and then head out of the park. Approaching Buzz, however, the line was starting to wrap around outside the building, and a large tour group was joining the queue.

Um, no. We'll come back for that one...

Good call.:thumbsup2

Making our way out of the park, I peeked in a few of the stores to check for the Beaker hat, but my search efforts at the moment were a bit half-hearted, as I was counting on the Muppets store at DHS to have my treasure.

We decided to go with our earlier plan to hop over to DHS from the MK. It was close to 1 at that point, and dinner that night was at Citricos, so we figured we'd hang out at DHS for a couple of hours, then go back to the Polynesian after to change for dinner. We chose the route of ferry to TTC to bus to DHS.

The elusive Beaker hat! Smart move heading to DHS. (This upcoming trip, we have PH for the first time and I'm so excited!) Citrico's looks amazing, looking forward to another of your detailed dining reviews.:thumbsup2

I enjoy the various watercraft modes of transportation around Disney, they're a nice break from the busses (although they don't seem to play destination-specific music like the busses do...).

I love taking the boats too. My oldest DD12, not so much...the first time we ferried from the MK to the Poly, she flipped out! I had no idea that boats frightened her and it was awful. I kept reassuring her we wouldn't sink and then this very sweet lady struck up a conversation with her and completely distracted her from her fear. Wasn't that sweet? We gave her a hug when we left the boat, she was so helpful.:goodvibes

And yes, it's a shame there isn't music like on the buses. Oh well.

We haven't done Laugh Floor yet, mostly because neither of us want to be singled out! :rotfl:

Can't wait to hear about Citricos! :thumbsup2

Love the padded seat count at MK :rotfl:

Stuck on IASW ahhhh;) despite the growing crowds...you guys were still have a good morning there!

Looking forward to what is up next popcorn::

I still have not Laugh Floor...I really need to. My sister did it on her trip last April with her friends and she was SO excited because she texted a joke and they used it! She said she freaked out when she heard "Kailyn, from Massachusetts..."

I haven't been to LTT since it was still character dining. I don't think I'd mind going for just the fried cheese and the toffee cake...

I love the TTA! Seriously one of my favorite rides!

cool update! I love that pic of the castle from the TTA! That is one of our favorite rides....it's so relaxing (and underrated which is great because that means people like us can ride it over and over without getting off and getting back on! )

I learned a few trips ago that three ADRs in one day is just too much food!

Ahh...The Laugh Floor....we did it once and only once and that was in 2007. I was maimed by the chain they use as a line rope outside the entrance so I'm holding a grudge. OK OK since you asked.... :rolleyes1 We were heading into the show and there wasn't anyone in line so rather than go all the way around and wind our way to the entrance, the others in my party opted to just duck under the chain. Well I had the backpack and for some reason it never occurred to me to take it OFF prior to my "duck under" attempt. Needless to say, I couldn't get under the chain so clearly, the next logical move was to climb over....In flip-flops.... Believe it or not, one of my toes went THROUGH a link in the chain and got stuck, I pulled my foot back to get my toe out, the chain swung back really hard and hit me on the shin bone. I had a welt there for literally 2 months afterwards and I wish that was an exaggeration! :sad2: You can't take me anywhere, I tell ya!

I am sorry to say, I have never officially sub'd to your reports. although... I have lurked before. :rolleyes1

Since you are over on mine...I thought I follow you over here :goodvibes I realize I am a couple months behind.. lots of updates to get through, but since many of the thread I have been following have slowed, I should be caught up with yours in now time! Can't wait... popcorn::

Your dad would be the perfect 'THAT GUY', too! Maybe you can find a CM and set him up for that whenever you do make it there. :thumbsup2

Catching up!

1: I really wish we hadn't skipped Crystal Palace, especially after that review. Puffed french toast sounds so good! And the inside of Crystal Palace is so pretty! :lovestruc I love all the windows/glass.

2: You got great PP pictures! No one knew how to work my camera, and I didn't want to spend $100+ for the few pictures we got. I wish there was a slightly more economical way to do them. Or least get Photopass employees that know about cameras!

The HM queue looks like a blast! We always skipped it to go in the quicker line. :rotfl: I've never looked up (at least, not at the right time) because I'm easily frightened! It took years for me to actually go on Haunted Mansion and the portrait room is still uber creepy to me.

3: Flash photographers are the worst. Especially when they don't know how to use the flash. Somehow, I'm more forgiving if I can tell that they at least got a good picture, but that's rarely the case!

4: Yuck, crowds. I wonder if it's just the same yearly crowds being spread out more or more people coming? If it's the latter, then there has to be a time when they'll lighten up because everyone will have already been! :rotfl:

5: Smartphones and apps are really fun; I'm definitely not someone who puts their phone away when they go on vacation. I mean, if there's a way to use them to enhance your vacation (see which is the best park to go to), why not? Though with the whole crowds issue, I'm wondering if there's ever going to be a time when going to the "best park" is actually the worst thing, since everyone will head there!

Subbing

Its been a long while since I have been around and was so excited to see one of your TR's to greet me! :goodvibes

Welcome!!! :goodvibes Glad to have you here!

Tomorrowland-ward.

And yes, it's a shame there isn't music like on the buses. Oh well.

You've never been to the Monster's Inc show??? It's really cute and funny! (And you don't get chili dog burped in your face!)

Hahaha it came down to the pink ones and these, but the gray won out in the end!

 Yeah, I don't have indoor photography skills, especially when moving! Oh well!

We do like doing the DxDP (mainly for the ability to do deluxe meals and have appetizers), but it does become a LOT of food. I could never do 3 meals a day at Disney!

Park Hoppers really do make touring a lot easier! We love being able to go to any park we want to at any point of the day!

Awww the smaller boats do bounce around on the water more! That was very sweet of the woman to talk with her and distract her! Music would be distracting too!

We haven't done Laugh Floor yet, mostly because neither of us want to be singled out! :rotfl:

Can't wait to hear about Citricos! :thumbsup2

Hahaha we never have been singled out there! The aisle seats seem to get the most attention (those are easier for the CM's to reach with the microphones), so you should be pretty safe towards the middle!

Love the padded seat count at MK :rotfl:

Stuck on IASW ahhhh;) despite the growing crowds...you guys were still have a good morning there!

Looking forward to what is up next popcorn::

Hahaha hey, that's important information when you're tired! :lmao:

We did have a good morning! We really were able to do pretty much everything we wanted except Buzz, so I'll consider that a success!

I still have not Laugh Floor...I really need to. My sister did it on her trip last April with her friends and she was SO excited because she texted a joke and they used it! She said she freaked out when she heard "Kailyn, from Massachusetts..."

You should!! It's really cute and funny! Hahaha that's awesome that your sister's joke was used!!

Doesn't fried cheese and toffee cake sound like the perfect excuse to go anywhere, really? :rotfl:

cool update! I love that pic of the castle from the TTA! That is one of our favorite rides....it's so relaxing (and underrated which is great because that means people like us can ride it over and over without getting off and getting back on! )

Thanks!! I love the TTA too! I've never ridden more than one time in a row though!

Yeah, I learned that on our past trip too, but there's sometimes just too many intriguing restaurants to try to narrow them down at home!

That is definitely an epic story!!! I don't think many people get welts from the queues! That sounds pretty painful!

I am sorry to say, I have never officially sub'd to your reports. although... I have lurked before. :rolleyes1

I've always wondered if you can ask a CM to be a participant there. They seem to prefer to surprise people, but that would be cool if you could make a request!

Catching up!

Crystal Palace really was a great breakfast! You'll just have to go next time! :thumbsup2

Thanks!! I just use a point and shoot (Canon Powershot), so I think it's along the lines of the easier cameras for the photographers to figure out! (I also made sure to set it on auto too!)

The new queue really is awesome, it's definitely worth checking out!

Hahaha I really think it's just more and more people going! It was a lot of tour groups and marathon runners while we were there.

I don't like the idea of being tied to my phone on vacation, but it really did come in handy insofar as the lines apps! I always wondered that too, if we were falling into a trap of heading to the "low crowds" park! (Usually it seemed to work out in our favor though!)

While ferrying across the lake, I used the opportunity of a seat and a breeze (well, the breeze wasn't really a factor here) to text my mom and tell her how much we had loved Sanaa the evening before. (It had been one of my parents' recommended restaurants, and they were thrilled we had loved it as much as they had.)

We soon docked, and noticed these fun chalk drawings on the pavement of the TTC.

I wondered if guests had drawn them, but Wingnut pointed out that they were a bit too neat and tidy for the CM's to have just randomly passed out chalk. I still think they're fun and cute though!

We followed the signs to the bus area, and found a bench near the DHS stop.

It was around 80 degrees or so at that point, not blisteringly hot, but warm enough that a seat in the shade was pretty appreciated after walking around all morning.

A bus bound for DHS showed up after a few minutes (Animal Kingdom was the popular bus destination of the moment, seemingly), and we were soon making our way into the park, and towards the location of our midday snack...

Another legendary Disney treat we had not yet tried until now...

The Red Velvet cupcake from Starring Rolls!

It looks pretty epic, doesn't it?

Photographed with the water bottle for scale:

I was excited about finally giving this one a try. I had heard mixed reviews around the Dis about it, and figured that, well, I'm an opinionated girl, and it's high time I was able to weigh in! :thumbsup2

Cross-section:

So was it amazing? Full of delicious wonder?

Eh...

The best way to describe the fundamental issues with this cupcake is to break it down by its parts. Some aspects were very very good. Some were really...not.

Starting from the bottom, the cake layer was the worst (and unfortunately largest) part of the treat. The texture of the cake itself was fine, but it was extremely bitter, as though WAY too much food coloring was used to achieve the cake's garnet hue. I've had many a red velvet cup/cake before, some redder than others, but never ever with this bitter a flavor.

The cream cheese frosting was not bad, it wasn't too sweet, which was appreciated. The outside of the frosting layer was coated in toffee crumbles, which lent some sweetness and texture to the cake. I had never had toffee and red velvet cake before, and thought it was an interesting combination.

In the top center of the frosting is a dollop of cheesecake. This part was pure brilliance. The cheesecake was very good, and I only wished there was more of it (say, instead of all of the red velvet cake underneath :rolleyes1).

When eaten all together, the cupcake was not bad. The frosting and toffee made up for the bitter aftertaste of the cake. But I found the inability to eat the cake on its own offputting enough to only eat half of the cupcake. (Wingnut wasn't too interested in a snack at this point, and only had a bite.)

I found myself regretting that I had not tried one of the other desserts we had seen (namely, the banana split trifle thing that had caught my eye), but I'm glad that we did give this one a try, if only to know what it was like!

(It is pretty though, isn't it?)

Snack mostly eaten, we decided to move on and visit a few of our favorite rides. We knew that it was way too late to attempt TSM (a stroll down Pixar Place confirmed this), but there were plenty of less populated attractions to keep us amused!

We headed towards the Great Movie Ride, which had a wait as long as it took for you to walk down the back-and-forth-and-back-and-forth switchbacks in the movie clip room.

Whenever we go on this ride, we always, always, always get the gangster scene. I had been SO wanting to see the cowboy scene ever since I learned of its existence, but normally it wouldn't be running when we were there.

At the CM directing people into lines, I asked if it was possible for us to go on the cowboy side.

"You sure can!" she directed us towards the front of the rows.

I was all excited, another Disney goal to be accomplished! Wingnut was content to wait and see this mysterious other side of the ride as well.

A moment later, however, another CM was heading in our direction, telling us that they weren't absolutely positive that the cowboy side would be going live at the moment. He would go and check, if it was to be, it wouldn't be for a couple of cycles. If it wasn't happening right away, it wouldn't be running for another half hour or so. We were welcome to wait it out, whichever scenario it ended up being.

Wingnut left it up to me. I decided that if it was going to be running soon, then we could wait. If not, then we'd just hop on the gangster-destined car.

The mural behind the GMR loading area:

The CM came walking back towards us, all smiles and thumbs-ups. The cowboy side would be going live in a few moments! :yay:

A few minutes later, we were loaded into the front of our car, the rest of the car was filled up, and we were off to our journey through the movies!

I can't look at that photo without the "Hoooooooray for Hollywood" song starting up in my head.

I was super-excited when we got to this scene:

Essentially, the scene is the same concept as the gangster side, except with saloons and different hats. But I was thrilled to have FINALLY seen it!

Not sure why I took this one, but it's here.

Does anyone else love the movie montage scene at the end of this ride as much as I do? Here, you'll enjoy this if so.

Exiting the ride, we thanked the CM's for their help, and were moving right along to our next destination.

(Yes, that's a hint! :goodvibes)

I enjoy the various watercraft modes of transportation around Disney, they're a nice break from the busses (although they don't seem to play destination-specific music like the busses do...).

The boats between Port Orleans and DTD play dixieland jazz when you're near Port Orleans French Quarter and then some kind of plunky banjo music as you get closer to Port Orleans Riverside. The transitions are so smooth you don't even notice when it changes, but it's really cool.

I love that montage at the end of GMR !! It is the best part of the whole ride !! Bummer about the cupcake.

Thank you...the red cupcake is now off my long list.:thumbsup2 It stinks when you finally get to try something that you've been dying to try & it's blahh!:sad2:
