Why Not Just Queue Up Another Disney Trip? Link to New TR 6/24 p136!

Nick did a great job taking pictures on the safari! Love the one with the giraffe's head in the tree trunk!

Cute meerkats and Lily shots! :thumbsup2

You know I licked my lips when I saw the Lost on Safari! Score on getting to drink two of them! :thumbsup2

Yeay for flying!

I know people around here who use that airport alot, because it's only an hour away- and they have all positive things to say about it. I always keep it in mind when I'm considering flying at a bad time (like NJ week or a holiday) and EWR prices skyrocket to over $400. :scared1::scared1::scared1:

Congrats on another ladies trip- :goodvibes

I'm glad that you got the whole flying thing sorted out, but $200 is the most you've ever paid? Wow. Be thankful you don't have to fly at some of the most expensive times of the year.

And I love flying out of small airports. Security is a breeze and its not at all stressful. I love our little CT airport.

Congratulations on the girls' trip. I swear, the more I travel, the more I realize how amazing and fun it is, not to mention how much it rejuvenates you. :goodvibes

Great news on getting a flight. I agree, that you still got a good price. I was able to lock in SW to CA and Vegas for a decent rate and OK times.

I love trying new airports too! Kind of adds to the adventure.

I hope you are able to get a room for a decent rate. Keep looking and watching.

Nick did a phenomenal job on the pictures! :worship: I have also forgotten any tidbits we learned on our trek. The hippos like watermelon... I remember that! :thumbsup2 Will be interesting to see the changes to the ride as they get rid of the Big Red storyline and add the zebra area.

From a self proclaimed margarita afficionado, I will confirm I think the African margarita is one of the very best. Think maybe it is whatever that orange/tangerine African liqueur they use.

My goal this trip is getting recipies for that and the Serenity at Blue Zoo! :thumbsup2

Hurrah for flights! I think road trips sound cool but when it comes down to actually doing it... not so much. :upsidedow

Oh, I wish I could get RT for $200! We'd fly for sure! I'd also love to have a 10 day trip (Not including the drive time!)

I hope your bro can figure out how he's going to get there. I'd be pretty bummed if I couldn't get on a plane and go somewhere. I would not be going to Europe this week for sure!!!

Glad to hear you did another concert outside your "normal". Sounds like fun!

a good tip if you really want to see the lions active is to take the last safari of the night. I remember one trip when I was at DAK and I had just gotten off the safari and there was a CM standing at the fastpass entrance telling people that if they get in line now they can get on the last safari of the night.

:welcome: EastYorkDisneyFan!

That is a good tip. I should try that. I am usually never in the park at the time of the last safari. Perhaps I need to plan better because I REALLY want a picture of that lion!!!!!!

The one I had gotten off of we had already been stooped by a rhino so I figured that seeing the animals more active at that point may be possible.

You are the second person (beside myself) who said they were stopped by a rhino, so it must be a fairly common occurrence. I would like to try an evening safari before the sound sets. That would be cool.

Hey MEK! I'm still around, I was just many, many, MANY updates behind!

Hey Brook! Thanks for stopping by. Hope you can get caught up and hope the links help! :goodvibes

Your son did AWESOME on the safari, he's obviously got his talent from you!

Thanks! I am really pleased with the way his pictures turned out. Sure, I edited them, but I did very little cropping. They were his composition!

And congrats on deciding to fly! It's so much easier...I don't think under $200 round trip is too bad - that is the most you've ever paid?

The most I have EVER paid for a RT flight to Orlando is $179. I'm not kidding. The lowest I ever paid was $118. Those days are OVER! I'm glad we are flying. I do want to try driving, but I think it makes more sense to fly this trip!

Yay for flying!!! $200 round-trip really isn't bad, and that's nice that you'll get to visit Denny's family before your trip! :goodvibes

I know that $200 isn't bad, so that's why we went with ABE. I just couldn't bring myself to pay more. Watch - SWA will drop their prices, but if they do at least I can get my October flights.

It really is hard for all three of us to get up to Denny's moms house at the same time, so it really does work out well.

Yayyyy for flying!
I'd rather 10 days than two weeks. I know most people say longer is better but I've done both and two weeks is just too long to be away from home for me.

I am happy we are flying and not driving. I think I would rather drive NOT in the summer in the heat.

When we had planned the two week trip it was going to be 8 nights at Disney and 4 nights at the beach, but then we planned another beach vacation so we decided to leave out the beach portion. I think we will be ready to go home after 10 nights!

I think if anything the prices on airfare are going to continue to rise...so happy you got what you did! Nice change of pace too flying out of a smaller airport:thumbsup2

I think flying from the smaller airport will be fun. It seems silly to drive NORTH to fly SOUTH, but I bet the flight leaves on time (unlike Philly).

Can't believe the price of a value room in June...that is beyond ridiculous:eek: So happy that you are getting another girl's weekend away....that is better for the soul than any trip to the therapist:rotfl2: That's my opinion at least....oh wait....there's usually a bottle of wine when you're with friends too so I know that always helps us:lmao:

That is supposed to be a 15% discount! What??? I only need it for one night and we won't even be getting there until after 9pm. Just not spending that much for one night in a Disney room. I rather have some of that money for other stuff!

Pretty happy about the girls weekend. We are going to tour the historic district this time. It should be fun. :thumbsup2

I am happy my fear of flying doesn't prevent me from getting on a plane. I can't imagine taking a train or driving....just too far for us!!

I can't even imagine driving from where you live. Even the thought of driving from here does not appeal to me, but we will eventually get around to doing it!

Hope you're having a great weekend my friend:goodvibes

Thanks!!!!! You too! (I actually had a pretty nice weekend)

Nick did a great job taking pictures on the safari! Love the one with the giraffe's head in the tree trunk!

Thanks! I love that picture, too! I'm really glad he took it!

Cute meerkats and Lily shots! :thumbsup2

I almost didn't take the meerkat shot and then Denny said, "take I picture of that". I was certain it would be a crappy shot and it turned out much better than I expected.

I  Lilly!

You know I licked my lips when I saw the Lost on Safari! Score on getting to drink two of them! :thumbsup2

I thought of you when I was drinking it. I want to try the Harambe Cooler the next time since it has a real African rum in it! I also have to try the African rita!

Yeah for flying!

I wish I lived as close as you do, but a 1000 mile drive IS far. I could handle it on the way down, but I know I would HATE the return ride. That thought alone was enough to make me opt for flying.

I know people around here who use that airport alot, because it's only an hour away- and they have all positive things to say about it. I always keep it in mind when I'm considering flying at a bad time (like NJ week or a holiday) and EWR prices skyrocket to over $400. :scared1::scared1::scared1:

I know a lot of people from North Jersey work over in that area, too. Good to know that you have heard positive things about that airport. I do hope its a good experience, because if it is I don't mind going up this because we are so familiar with the area and it is a good excuse for seeing Denny's mom!

Congrats on another ladies trip- :goodvibes

I think it will be a lot of fun. Shopping, eating, drinking, and touring. Fingers crossed for good late April weather!

I'm glad that you got the whole flying thing sorted out, but $200 is the most you've ever paid? Wow. Be thankful you don't have to fly at some of the most expensive times of the year.

I am glad we finally made a decision (and the one I wanted) $179 is the most I have ever paid to go to Orlando. I'm not kidding and that's what I paid when we went over Thanksgiving ( a few years back). I don't like to travel during the expensive times of year. I avoid Christmas and Easter trips at all cost.

And I love flying out of small airports. Security is a breeze and its not at all stressful. I love our little CT airport.

I am looking forward to no security lines. I like seeing new places so it does add to the adventure!

Congratulations on the girls' trip. I swear, the more I travel, the more I realize how amazing and fun it is, not to mention how much it rejuvenates you. :goodvibes

Traveling is wonderful, isn't it? And girl's trips are so fun! Its wonderful to be at a point in my life where I can take girls trips pretty much whenever I want. I like it! ;)

Great news on getting a flight. I agree, that you still got a good price. I was able to lock in SW to CA and Vegas for a decent rate and OK times.

I am happy with the price because its all relative and the bonus is that we may not have to pay for parking which will make the price of flying go down even more! ;)

I love trying new airports too! Kind of adds to the adventure.

I liked reading about the airport you flew out of on your last trip! It's fun seeing airport pictures. I'm kind of geeky that way.

I hope you are able to get a room for a decent rate. Keep looking and watching.

Unless the room rates drop to about $100 I will just stay off site. Forget about that price. I could do a lot with $150 and Denny still has enough carlson points to pay for a night in a country inn and suites, so we might do that.

Thanks! I am really pleased with the pics that Nick took and I am promoting him next trip to our personal PP photographer. :rotfl:

Yes - I do remember that hippos like watermelons and that they have VERY big mouths! :rotfl: That was so cool!

From a self proclaimed margarita afficionado, I will confirm I think the African margarita is one of the very best. Think maybe it is whatever that orange/tangerine African liqueur they use.

My goal this trip is getting recipies for that and the Serenity at Blue Zoo! :thumbsup2

I really want to try one of those! Its either that or the Harambe Cooler! Decisions Decisions! I may need to try both! :rolleyes1

Hurrah for flights! I think road trips sound cool but when it comes down to actually doing it... not so much. :upsidedow

I totally agree. In theory a road trip sounds great. In reality I can't really see it. Denny and I really aren't compatible in the car. I like quiet. He likes constant music. Plus he drives annoyingly slow sometimes. I don't the trip home would be good.

Oh, I wish I could get RT for $200! We'd fly for sure! I'd also love to have a 10 day trip (Not including the drive time!)

I tell ya - its all relative. I think I got spoiled after having scored so many great flight prices for so many years. Reality has hit!

I hope your bro can figure out how he's going to get there. I'd be pretty bummed if I couldn't get on a plane and go somewhere. I would not be going to Europe this week for sure!!!

I can't imagine being so afraid of flying that you have to go an alternate route. That would totally stink. :sad2:

Glad to hear you did another concert outside your "normal". Sounds like fun!

It was really fun! I worked really hard to memorize everything and sometimes I think I am too old to be doing this stuff, but I think its good to push outside of your comfort zone no matter what age.

I hope you guys have a fabulous trip! So excited for you!

Who Doesn't Love a Parade?

I'm going to try for a quick update tonight!

But first I wanted to post this link for everyone.

http://www.partythroughtheparks.com/disney-resort-drink-recipes/

Party Through the Parks! There are a lot of Disney drink recipes in here and a lot of good drink reviews. It's a pretty cool website!

I also thought you might enjoy seeing this pictures I took of Lilly back in May 2010. She was a newborn and just released out into the public area.

Then:

Now:

I also thought you might like to see a couple pictures of the Hippos during feeding from my May 2011 trip (the African Trek tour)

IMG_3021.jpg

And animal that can do that and this......

IMG_1103.jpg

is pretty cool. And where else are you going to see this besides Disney?

OK - Back to Our Regularly Scheduled TR.

When I left off we had just finished having some adult beverages from the Dawa bar.

By the way, Denny's amber Safari looked like this.....

9b000cec.jpg

So as parade time got closer I walked over to the parade route a few times but just didn't feel like lining up yet because there was basically no place to sit.

Setting up for the parade:

IMG_1149.jpg

I thought this CM was so pretty and I love her dress

IMG_1150.jpg

Of course, by the time Mickey's Jingle Jammin Parade (or whatever it's called) was ready to start, I lost all hope of a good spot. I suddenly found myself three deep and there were tall men in front of me. Great! How could I be on the parade route 45 minutes early and goof around so much that I still didn't have a good spot. I'll blame it on the alcohol.

Being ever resourceful I realized that if I stood on the concrete lip that surrounded the patio outside the Dawa Bar, I could see better over the tops of the heads in front of me. But that concrete lip is curved, so staying in place required a balancing act. No worries. I managed to stay there for the length of the parade and I took a ton of pics.

Let's see some, shall we?

IMG_1348.jpg

I have to admit! I love this parade. It is my favorite daytime parade even in the non-Christmas version. It's just so festive and fun!

So parade over and the sun is still fairly high in the sky. What Next?

Stick around.....In the next update I will finish out our day at MK!

I know you're still updating - but WOW these are some REALLY cool pictures!!!!

Thank you! I had a lot of fun with these pictures. I had to shoot up high to avoid heads, but I was able to focus in on the faces and props of the parade!

Airfares are insane. But I guess I'm not surprised when they say gas will be $5 a gallon by Memorial Day. I looked about two months ago and airfare for our September trip and it was $236; when I looked last week it was $276 a person and I just looked now and it was $305 a person. I'm getting really frustrated and am hoping for a tax refund to pay for the September airfare.

For someone standing on a ledge, you got some really great pictures of the parade at the AK. They are so colorful and vibrant. We've only seen the parade once which is probably due to the fact that we've usally left the park by 2 p.m. :sad2:

That's a big leap. I really do hope it comes down some and levels off a bit! I feel like suddenly EVERYTHING has gotten more expensive. At this rate Disney is going to start pricing itself right out of the market for some travelers!

The only other times I've seen the parade is when I've arrived at the park in the afternoon. I'm so glad we stayed.

Glad you like the pics! My feet really did hurt from gripping that rounded concrete! I kept slipping!

You got some really great shots. Hard to believe you had 2 LOS and were standing on a ledge. I still would have had blurs of the back of peoples heads.:lmao:

:rotfl2: Haha! I was JUST on your TR as you were posting this!

You know what they say about great minds and all that. :thumbsup2

It was really HARD to stand on the ledge but I told myself I had to get good pictures so I tried to ignore the discomfort of having my feet wrapped around that ledge. Glad you like the pics!

I agree -- this parade would be a lot of fun to be in! Hopefully, one day I will actually get to see it -- either version would be fine with me.
