:donald: Welcome to Donald's Defiant Dashers 2012!! We are also known as the Triple D's or Ducks. :donald:

We are one of several Teams here on the WISH Events Board. The Teams were designed to give WISHers smaller groups to interact in.

Good morning Ducks! I'm heading out for my first post-marathon weekend run this morning with my neighbors. I think we're going 4 miles. I'm ready to get moving again!! ttyl

I'm planning on the Princess for 2013. I have a long way to go, but I have a plan and am motivated. I'm trying a modified C25K in hopes that I will be ready to run a local 5K in late March/early April. I've already completed my first week, and I feel great!

Got back from WDW yesterday (yes, I stayed for a week after Marathon Weekend to play). I walked a 5K today during Houston's race weekend (marathon, half marathon) to support a friend and the Parkinson's Society. Came home and took a nap. Man, that vacationing really sucks it out of you!

It was soooo good to see the Ducks again and meet some new ones, too, last week. After reading some of the closing posts on the 2011 thread, it appears many of the Ducks brought A LOT of pixie dust back from WDW to the pond here. :3dglasses What is this talk of Goofy and Full?!? :scared1:

I've made no real decisions about 2013 racing yet. I want my C2C medal, so I'm about ready to pull the trigger on the DL Half on Labor Day weekend. I also really enjoy the W&D Half, so I'm pretty sure I'll sign up for that one, too. But no silly decisions about 2013 yet. I'm sure I'll be there in January. Just no decision on what events to run.

Back to pounding pavement tomorrow. I've got the Princess Half princess: to get ready for next. My sister is working on our costumes. I think the three of us will be dressed as the Fairy God Mothers. Not sure how we'll run with those parking cone sized things on our heads, but I have faith in my sister...:rolleyes:

Just did my first post half run. Took a week off and i have to admit i was worried that I'd have no motivation without a race on the immediate horizon. I'm in a maintanence phase right now. But i got out there for a four mile run and had my best time for that distance. :banana:

I'm planning on doing the TOT 10-miler in September and the Full in 2013 at WDW. :rotfl:

I've been looking at compression socks. Does anyone have any experience with them? Do they really work?

Do you mean Flora, Fauna and Meriweather?? That would be so fun!

WTG on your 4 miler! Maybe think about doing some local races to keep you going?? That's what I'm doing.

I have some compression socks but I find them so uncomfortable that I only used them for a bit when I first got them and haven't touched them since. I see the people wearing them during races and think, ugh, they look so itchy! lol

I'm scheduled to run again in the morning, but there's a 30% chance of rain. So, I think I might just go ahead and knock it out this afternoon. :thumbsup2

However, I know I won't be able to avoid running in the rain indefinitely. Like any good duck, I'm not afraid of a little moisture, but what do I do about my shoes? What's the best way to dry them out when I'm done? :confused3
 
Afternoon Ducks!

It looks as though most everyone is getting back to running/walking. :thumbsup2 Hopefully by Wednesday I will be able to get back to it. Ended up with a knee issue after the half which required me to walk the relay, which resulted in blisters on the bottoms of my feet. Strange isn't the word for it. :confused3 :laughing:

I've never participated in a relay like that so, I didn't really know what to expect. I did the second leg and had a lot of standing around time in the MK parking lot. I sent RunDisney my observations of the weekend and asked if maybe they could put a Runner's Retreat there as I would have spent the money for a place to hang out while waiting for my teammate. Other than that, I thought it was pretty well organized, and the medal is cool! However, I wasn't quite sure what I was supposed to do with the butt pad they issued us. Either throw it away before hitting the course or take it with me. It may have been one of the "It looked good on paper" deals. :lmao:

I bought some this fall when I was having serious problems with my calves seizing up on me. I bought the Zensah brand from my local running shoe store. Unlike Liz's experience, mine don't rub or get itchy. I forget I have them on because they're so comfortable. And yes, I think they do help me. I wore mine on all my long runs and during the WDW Half.

A side story: They told me to wear the seam down the back of my calf. I thought it was funny when I got on the monorail after the half marathon and saw a girl with the same brand on, only she was wearing them backwards. You can see by their construction how they should be worn. Not sure what effect she was trying to acheive. :confused3

Yep! I'm the "blue" one. We'll be wearing wings and hats. Sounds like she also got us some wands, too! My sister is the creative one. I'm the enginerd. :rotfl:

Liz - Put me down for the DL Half in September and the W&D Half in November on Page One. That way, I'll be committed. In more ways than one. :rotfl2: Thanks!

I lifted weights today at the gym. Will go for my first run since the half tomorrow morning. :thumbsup2
 
Hi everyone, I'm in!
I haven't been very active since the WDW half. Tonight was my first night working out, I did a 30 minute Bob Harper DVD with a kettle bell. It was a leg killer. I will be doing other workout dvd's for cross training and doing just 1 run during the weekend until the spring.
Last year I posted my race wish list and was able to do everyone except I changed the Dexter/Ann Arbor half to a 10K. So here is my wish list for this year.

Flying Pig half marathon in Cincinnati on May 6th
Dexter/Ann Arbor half June 3
ToT 10 miler in September
Detroit half marathon October 21
and the WDW full in January
and for the heck of it, the Wine n Dine relay with Debbie.

OK I wrote it down now to make it happen.
I will let you know once I actually sign up for each event.
