Gina & Carl's Wedding - 6/22/12 - Swan/Ohana ~ TR Day 4 Wedding Ceremony 8/9

Just catching up on your pj! Everything is coming together nicely! Love the votives!
When I was planning a S/D wedding, we were going with It's Tasty Too. They were so easy to work with and the price was very reasonable!
Can't wait to read more!

Thanks Kristi. I am still not sold on using the votives for favors though. I'm having issues with the ribbon sticking. My backup plan is to do some small chinese takeout containers and put with candy with personalized labels. I'm thinking sweets may go over better ;)

I have been working on my luau invites. There are two separate ones, either on the left or right. For the one on the right, I was thinking to put a sparkly mickey in place of the mickey head. Just can't do that in a file ;) I wanted to tie in Disney so I took some works out of Wishes but I want to get some luau in too. Let me know what you guys think. I'm open to all suggestions. I feel like they still need something.

Forgot to ask, has anyone made made personalized labels for candy? I have made the large size before (first wedding - can't do that again), but I am looking for small size to put in containers. I saw some online but would rather do it myself ;)

Gina sweetie
You did a great job on the invitations!!! I think I am with Faith in that I prefer the one on the right!!

I like the invite on the right best too. Nice work!

Congrats on booking your room too, I didn't realize that club level included food. That sounds great.

I'm surprised that the cake from the Swan was so much that Karen didn't even tell you the price, and I'm nosey so I'm dying to know the price now. I mean, its a cake, how expensive can it get?!

I haven't made candy labels but I was in Michael's today and saw that they have them. They keep expanding their wedding section :) You can usually print a coupon for 40% off from their website too.

I like them both a lot, but lean towards the right one just a tiny bit more, but again I love them both :goodvibes

Thanks ladies for the opinions on the invites. I still need to print them out to make sure they print well.

Jillian, club level has access to the concierge room where they have continental breakfast, snacks and fruit throughout the day, appetizers, wine and beer in the evening, and desserts. Here is a link to a post with details and some pictures of the spreads. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2280631

I was also curious about the price, but decided not to ask.

I will have to check Michael's. I think I go there weekly, but unfortunately they closed the one by my work without consulting me first. At least there is a Hobby Lobby, which is about 3x the size of Michael's down the street too.

I like the one on the right more and I think you should definitely dress up the mickey. I really like the wording too.

Teresa

Your invites are super cute! So creative! I have to agree with everyone else...I like the one on the right just a smidge better

Time to catch up here. I was sick for about a week and did absolutely nothing for the wedding, or Christmas, so that has put me behind. I am almost done with my Christmas shopping, still have some wrapping to do, baking is done. I can almost breathe. Now if only I was done with work.

As for wedding details...

6 months from today (June 22) is our wedding. That just kind of snuck up on me. lol Tomorrow is our 180 days before arrival. I really need to finalize our ADRs. The only one I know for sure thus far is Coral Reef (at the request of my 8yo). Traditionally we go to Crystal Palace on our arrival day so I will probably make that too. I don't have the dining plan available to me so I am not planning too many sit downs. I kind of want the castle, so I may need to do that one for me, unless my 11yo picks 1900 Park Fare. Each girl was told to pick one to celebrate their birthday at so that was what she was considering. I called the Beach Club concierge to see if it is better for them to set it up the ADRs for me or for my Type-A personality to do it myself. They said they can do it and should be able to get everything without a problem. I also forgot to send them back my pre-planning checklist so I sent it. (I know I had typed up an email asking for cruise info, I must never have hit sent.) I might as well have them do it since it is their job and why I am paying for it. Since I am not planning as many sit downs, I was thinking about doing some sort of tour as a family. What would be good for 2 adults and 3 kids (15, 11, 9)?

I was able to get pricing from them for a Wishes or Illuminations fireworks cruise. $346 for 10 people, which includes small snacks like pretzel bags, soft drinks and bottled water. Since there are 5 of us in my family, I will have 5 open seats. I was thinking of either having it the day before or after the wedding. If I am planning on viewing Wishes from the Poly after our reception dinner, would it be overkill to do a Wishes cruise the day before or after? I love Wishes, but...? I haven't seen Illuminations in about 8 years so I have no idea if I like it anymore. Well, what's not to like, I know. Thoughts?

I emailed It's Tasty Too yesterday to get a cake set up. I had some preliminary emails and hadn't followed up. Will see what they say. I was at Michael's yesterday and they had a beachy cake topper (heart shaped with some shells). I also have a 50% off coupon (for today) so I may go back and get it. I originally wanted a sand castle, but this is simpler and cheaper. With 50% off, it would be about $13. Works for me.

Also, while at Michael's, I found some candy labels (Thanks Jillian!). And even better... they were on clearance. A package of 45 labels was $1.99 so I bought 5 packages. I think this will be the new wedding favors. I am thinking some small, clear Chinese take out boxes with candy as favors. They also had candy kiss ones (not on clearance), but I was already using my coupon on something else so I will have to go back again. I am thinking some small, clear Chinese take out boxes with candy as favors. Chocolate mini bars and candy kisses. I will just need to recruit the kids to put labels on ;)

When I was talking concierge CM, she gave me the website address for a listing of all of the spa offerings around WDW. http://www.relaxedyet.com/ It list prices for all of the services too.

The best news is I asked my TA owner to see if she can track down some "Just Married" buttons. Our regional manager contacted someone at inside sales and was able to have 2 sent out to me. Yeah! I emailed him to thank him and he said to make sure we wear them EVERYWHERE. Yep, that's my plan!

Merry Christmas, Happy new year, happy holidays everybody!

Hooray for 6 months!!

Your ADRs sound nice! You should look into Disney's Magical Family Tour! Most tours have age restrictions (16yo usually) but the Family Tour doesn't. Here's a whole list: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/tours.htm

I'll be honest, I don't think Illuminations is that exciting. I don't think Wishes ever gets old so I'd opt for a Wishes cruise. HOWEVER, with kiddos I may do Illuminations just so they get to see something new. JMO!

The cake topper sounds cute! And $13 sounds even better! Awesome deal on the candy labels!

Nice find with the spa website! And, I'm so glad you were able to track down some Just Married buttons! Woohoo!!

Have a wonderful Christmas!

I think I will talk to the girls about the details for the family tour and see what they think. Thanks!

Everything sounds great so far :thumbsup2

:banana: 6 Months!!:banana: Time is surely flying by :goodvibes

Time is going by too quickly!

I received an email from one of the managers at Ohana with my ADR# for Ohana for the reception for our wedding. Woohoo! I just need to figure out the rest of our park days. If we arrive on Wednesday, and are getting married on Friday, do I need a day, like Thursday, to do stuff or can I plan on a park day with this kids/other guests? I am hoping to do the mail order license so that is one less thing to worry about doing down there.

I have been trying to find some discounted Christmas white lights for the luau but so far, no such luck. Everyone has the LED lights, which I know are more energy efficient, but I am going for cheap right now. I need to keep looking. Well, since Carl is running some errands today, that's his job ;)

Hopefully now that the holidays are over I can kick myself into gear and really get moving on the wedding plans.

Your plans sound great so far. I don't have much to comment on I just wanted to drop in. I do not think that doing a wishes cruise is overboard on wishes in fact I love the idea of it. I love wishes too.

Happy new year

Teresa

I can never get tired of Wishes!

I have made a little bit of progress. I have booked a couple of ADRs for my wedding week (Crystal Palace, Coral Reef). I am going to pass on any of the tours. If my girls were 16 it would be easier, but the Family Tour almost sounds too babyish for a 9yo. I decided on the Illuminations Cruise for the day after my wedding. I figured the wedding day will be busy and exhausting so we can stay close to home (Beach Club) the next day. My girls seem interested in seeing the Luau at the Poly so I am thinking about scheduling that. I have never been and it would go with the theming of our wedding at home.

I signed the contract with It's Tasty Too yesterday and mailed it back with my deposit. I just need to figure out filling flavors next. Only 2 small layers so not too much to figure out.

I'm hoping to start on some projects this weekend, but it seems to be getting busier as it comes closer.

Yeah for progress! Have fun with your projects.

We've never done the luau either and we have it booked for a few days after the VR. My kids are younger too (9,4,2) so I figured it would keep them entertained.

Who is your contact at Ohana? I am wanting to make reservations for our farewell breakfast for my family and us.

Thanks,
Teresa

Theresa, I called the Ohana Restaurant Managers at 407-824-1334. I believe the manager names are Carmen (who I talked to), Nicole, and Ben. I just left a message and they called me back within an hour or two. They were very easy to work with.
