"There’s NO Sleeping in Disney!” SURPRISE - The Frumps Are Back Again! UPDATE 1/13

Toy Story Mania! :woohoo:

I think it's my favorite ride in all of WDW. Well, it's tied with Space Mountain. ;)

Mrs. Potato Head is adorable as a fortune teller. I've never noticed that before.

The Magic of Disney Animation pre-show reminds me of the WDW episode of Full House when Joey gets a lesson from one of the animators. They should add that clip to the pre-show.

An old-school plush Minnie Mouse much like the one you took the picture of appears in the background of a scene in Once Upon a Time. When I saw it, I had to pause the TV so I could properly freak out. :rotfl: That show is filled with amazing little Disney touches. :thumbsup2

I haven't been to One Man's Dream in a few years. I need to go back. That man has given me so much to be thankful for.

Me too! Toy Story Mania is definitely inching it's way to the top. It's just so FUN!

Haha there's so many details in there that I miss because I'm so concentrated on the game! But I'm glad I captured a few on my camera.

OMG YESSS!! Ahh I totally remember that. It really should be part of that pre-show. Whenever I see it I feel like it should begin playing because it has the same "feel" to it. Love it. Love Full House. I need to watch it. :lovestruc

Ahh really!? Oh my God I NEED to watch that show. Like, I'm not even kidding, it's on my to do list. Legitimately written there. I just can't chip away at enough stuff to get to it. And the Friends episodes they're playing right now are really intense and I can't tear myself away. But I promise, I will watch it SOON! I am quite excited.

You definitely need to go back!! For sure. It's just beautiful! Gotta love Walt. :thumbsup2

I love One Man's Dream too. I think that sometimes people forget that everything we love about Disney comes from Walt. More people need to give that attraction love, for sure.

Nat did great on TSM for it being her first time! Definitely one of my favorite attractions.

Exactly. I mean, my arm always feels like it's going to fall off after riding, but TSM is just plain fun. The mad dash is worth it. ::yes::

I know what you mean. My to do list has gotten quite long. I'm on break so you'd think that I'd be able to start doing, but nope, i just keep adding more. This is a problem.

Hey Jess!! I'm all caught up on your updates now. Love them as usual. :)

You are sooo lucky you got to star as Annie!

I CRACKED UP at the Pluto "Praise the Lord" pic!

Tusker House sounds a lot like Boma but with Boma being better. I didn't even enjoy the food at Boma that much but I still ate a ton. The desserts are just ridiculously good. I still really want to try Tusker someday! And I totally get food from the kids section too all the time so don't feel weird. The chicken nuggets are always awesome!!

NAT DOESN'T LIKE CUPCAKES?! My life would not be the same without them LOL. Especially the ones from Starring Rolls! Oh man I wish I could eat one right now... sigh... you are so lucky that next week you can!

OMG I love that you got a couple pics of the inside of TSM b/c I've always wanted to but I'm too immersed in the game. I always notice new details though.

I spent sooo much time at One Man's Dream on this trip. Walt is the most inspiring person in the world to me. He believed so strongly in his dreams and everything he imagined not only still exists decades after his death, but is still growing and thriving. I love him so much! <3

I totally agree! For all Walt has done, he deserves a ridiculous amount of recognition. One Man's Dream only scrapes the surface, but I really think it's important for everyone to see :thumbsup2

Yeah she did! And me too - it's AWESOME!

Hahaha seriously though. I get a little too into it. :lmao:

Eh I completely understand! I accomplish one thing and add like... 3 more things to the list. :rotfl:

Hi Lia! Welcome home! And yay!! I'm so glad you're back and caught up!

Aww I wasn't Annie herself, I was a Boylan Sister/Servant/Hooverville Person/NYC Tourist. However, being in the show was FANTASTIC! I absolutely loved it!

 I love capturing funny pictures like that.

Yeah I have heard that comparison a lot. I mean, Tusker House was good, but not great. And YAY FOR THE KIDS FOOD! :thumbsup2

No she doesn't!! Isn't that weird?! I think that huge globs of frosting turn her away or something. I personally LOVE cupcakes lol. And aww I wish I could just send you one! I can take a picture for you! :goodvibes

I'm glad I did too! If the ride ever stops, it's picture taking time!

I do too! And I completely agree with everything you said! He really is an extraordinary person and the world was so blessed to have him! :) I love Walt <3 <3 <3

My DS loves Toy Story! I can't wait for him to experience TSM again!

Nat was so cute coming off of the ride!

So looking forward to your Christmas trip report!!!

It's the best! Aww he's going to have so much fun - as he grows older he'll love it more and more!

Haha she was SO excited!

Thank you! I am looking forward to it too! But even more importantly I'm looking forward to the actual trip which is SO SOON AHHH!:banana::banana:

Real Life Update #1: 3 DAYS!!!
December 18th, 2011

Hello everyone! Merry (almost) Christmas! :santa: Wow, this is my first real life update on this trip report? That's so weird! Sorry about that!

Anyways, are you all getting excited for the upcoming holiday? I know we are... because this year in my house, Christmas means that WE'RE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!

We are going in three days to be exact! (Regardless of what my inaccurate ticker says.) Yes, in about 60 some HOURS I am going to be getting out of this freezing cold weather and dragging my family around my favorite place on the PLANET. I can't tell you how happy I am. I really can't even describe it.

My life has basically been a whirlwind for the past month, so this vacation is MUCH needed. And I've been looking forward to it for 11 months now. So nothing is going to stand in my way - I am going to have a darn good time! Regardless of how many times I've been to the world this year, this trip is really going to be something special. I have no doubt it will exceed my expectations. I can't wait to just spend time with my family and actually RELAX. (in a disney-fied way, of course.) I AM JUMPING OUT OF MY SKIN I CAN'T EVEN TAKE THE EXCITEMENT!!!!

Ahem. Anyways...

We have a lot of new and interesting restaurants coming up, some unique experiences that we have never done before, lots of fun plans, some repeats of some old favorites, holiday decorations galore, and of course, a few surprises. (Unfortunately, none of them will be as fantastic as the August surprise, but they are surprises none the least!)

I have lots to explain to you all in my next trip report. Like lots. When I was referring to surprises, I was talking about how I'm going to surprise YOU. But hey, it's going to be interesting and I think you're going to enjoy hearing about everything! And it's all good things, so don't worry! :thumbsup2 You will see once I begin!

And just to warn you... this upcoming trip report is going to be LONG. Like... the longest one I have ever written. I have so many Disney days to document (this annual pass is getting some GREAT use) as well as some real life updates to write. So I hope I will see you all over there once it begins! I am going to try and finish this one first, though. We only have about 11-12 updates to go! (okay that's actually a lot. I better get crackin'! :lmao:)

So yes, I just wanted to check in and make sure you guys are still out there - thanks for reading along! And I wanted to tell you again how much I appreciate you all being here! You guys are the best. Thanks for allowing me to share my love of Disney with you!! Even though I am lucky enough to have people like Kristen, Nat, and my Mom who "get" Disney, it's reassuring to have a whole community who understands as well. I love all of your imput so just thank you SO MUCH for being here! :grouphug:

And also, if you're going to be in the world while I'm there and see me around, please feel free to say hello! I love meeting my readers - you guys are the best!

I hope you all have a blessed Christmas (as well as other holidays!) and enjoy spending time with your family. Eat all of the beautiful holiday food and spread all of the joy you can!

I'm going to try and squeeze in a couple more updates before I go, starting with one right now! Then I will have to take a leave of absence for Disney, (YAYYY!!!!) I'll get back, I'll finish this trip report, and it will be time to start up the next one!

Have a magical night everyone, and I hope you enjoy the upcoming update! :wizard:

Chapter 27: "May The Frump Be With You"
August 22nd, 2011

Hooray for Hollywood!

dsc0801b.jpg

Our next stop was in a galaxy far, far away. A newly refurbished journey was our intention, and it was my first time experiencing it.

dsc0832q.jpg

STAR TOURS: THE ADVENTURE CONTINUES.

dsc0837o.jpg

Nat and I had fastpasses but we just hopped in line because it was only like 20 minutes. We didn't want to make Kristen go on by herself!

dsc0833mw.jpg

Looking off into the distance:

dsc0838c.jpg

(Nothing was really there. SURPRISE!)

Oh my God... while we were in line, we were standing behind this couple. And we kept seeing them EVERYWHERE. They were staying at Coronado Springs and I'm pretty sure they were at the same bus stop as us. So it was just super funny. They were really awkward. And I think they began to recognize us after a period of time so it was a pretty comical situation.

dsc0834hv.jpg

Anyways, I was really excited to try this attraction, and although I had NO idea what was going on, I absolutely loved it!

And guess what?!? I WAS THE REBEL SPY!!!!

I sat in the very very very back left corner, and I'm just sitting there watching the screen, and BAM there's my face! It. Was. Amazing.

The journey was great even though I didn't understand it at all. And I guess the whole point of it was trying to kill the rebel spy... which I guess could be sort of a downer from me... but you know, I embraced it. :p

I can imagine that if you love Star Wars, you would probably be in heaven on this attraction. It is pretty sweet. I absolutely love it! The old one is nothing compared to this!

We got off the ride and exited into the gift shop, where we saw a shirt that says "I AM THE REBEL SPY!" We pretty much all had a conniption. PERFECTION.

dsc0840h.jpg

There was also a cast member in the gift shop who was holding a light saber and he was COMPLETELY still. Everyone was walking by and trying to make him move. This little boy poked his arm and then the CM went "AHH!," scared the little boy, made us all crack up laughing, and went right back to his frozen position. He was just too great for words.

Our next destination was The Writer's Stop. Kristen and I decided to split a carrot cake cookie, which is just delicious. That cream cheese frosting and carrot cake combo is just... AHH. So so so good.

dsc0841z.jpg

I FOUND A HIDDEN MICKEY! This is a camera that's hanging on the ceiling in there.

dsc0842l.jpg

Since we were in the Star Tours mood, we were pretty entertained by this cookbook. STAR WARS: THE ADVENTURES CONTINUE - COOKING STYLE.

dsc0843i.jpg

I also loved this mirror. I sort of want it.

dsc0844c.jpg

Then we wandered for a bit. We went to Sunset Boulevard (the road leading up to Tower of Terror) and chilled out on a bench near the vacation club kiosk. It was at this moment where Kristen found out some very exciting news about her resort situation and the fact that her family was considering getting DVC! She will further explain that to you in 265 years when she gets to that update on her trip report, but I just wanted to let you all know that this was the moment it happened!

Anyways, after that exciting news we got up and walked some more. We decided to have a little photo shoot!

dsc0845nn.jpg

The park was not crowded AT ALL so we had some excellent opportunities to take some pictures in front of the hat!

Ta-Da!

dsc0847nk.jpg

We feel very comfortable at Disney.

dsc0848x.jpg

dsc0849pn.jpg

And some obligatory hat pictures where it sort of looks like we're wearing it, but we were too close to make it exact.

dsc0851xc.jpg
dsc0852u.jpg

dsc0853q.jpg

Then we went into the gift shops so Nat could go and look for a Toy Story shirt! That's all she wanted.

dsc0856d.jpg

Sadly, she had no luck. But there was some fun Toy Story Merchandise anyway.

dsc0858v.jpg

Nat and her boyfriend:

dsc0859mt.jpg

I thought all of these mugs were adorable! I especially love the Pluto ones!

dsc0861sn.jpg

Then we exited the store and Nat got a Mickey Bar - her favorite!

dsc0860k.jpg

We didn't really have an intended destination, but we ended up in the Streets of America. I don't know how that happened. But I had to pee SO BAD so we ran around and tried to find a bathroom in this obscure part of Hollywood Studios. Since it was nighttime, no one was around (nothing was really open back there) so it was kind of weird. We tried to go to the bathroom in Sci-Fi but I couldn't find it, and then we found some other one in this random place. It was just a really frumpy moment.

YOUSE GUYS!!

dsc0862i.jpg

We left there and kept wandering. I'm pretty sure throughout the course of the night we walked up and down commissary lane about three times, and EVERY TIME the Brady Bunch Theme Song was playing. It was pretty fantastic, considering I absolutely love that show.

Okay, I was reading and reading and then you showed that picture of the carrot cake cookie. Now it's all I can think about! Thanks:rotfl2:

Enjoy your trip! Have a wonderful Christmas as well!

You're going to have the most amazing time, Jess!! I can't wait to hear all about it. Thank YOU (and your family) for sharing your trips with us.

I laughed ridiculously hard at "May the Frump be with you." Excellent choice for a title. :thumbsup2

I've never been on Star Tours, but being the Rebel Spy sounds like fun. Do they just randomly select someone each time or was it because of where you were sitting?

That Mickey mirror is ADORABLE. I want one for my room!

I know there are a lot of people who think the hat should be torn down, but I kind of love it. Especially at night. It looks so pretty. :cloud9:

Thanks for the update! We are big Star Wars fans so we are looking forward to the new ride. I never rode the old one because I can't stand simulator type rides but for our next trip I am going to take some Bonine so I can try it.
I am really looking forward to your Christmas trip report - I am sure you will have some amazing pictures. We are going to Florida over Christmas too but not Disney, about two hours south of it. I will be thinking about you up in the World having fun. You and your family have a very blessed Christmas!

PS - That carrot cake cookie looks wonderful!

Hi! I have really enjoyed reading your trip report. We will be at Disney for xmas starting the 12/22. We are staying at AKL - Kidani until 12/30.

So If you see a family that looks like this:

Photo0090FourBySix.jpg

and I say Hi! please do not consider us stalkers. Allison my 10 year old daughter and I have really loved your TR and your enthusiam for Disney. We feel the same way! Thanks for writing your TR.

:thumbsup2

I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOUR TRIP! (Not as excited as you, I'm sure, but excited none the less!) EEEEEEEEE I LOVE SURPRISES! ALMOST AS MUCH AS I LOVE CAPSLOCK!!! AND EXCLAMATION POINTS!!!!!!!!!!

*ahem* okay, now that I have that out of my system...

Totally looking forward to following along on Twitter, and for your upcoming trip report so I can hear all about Christmas and New Year in the World, and how everything is going at your new school =D

I love that picture of the Pixar Place sign - I don't think I've ever noticed it before, especially with the Luxo Jr lamp on it. So cute!

HA, that is so awesome you were the rebel spy. I am tres jealous. I don't really understand what's going on in that ride either, but my husband is a big Star Wars fan so when all the movies came out on BluRay I bought him the set and we've been gradually watching them. We're about halfway through the 4th movie. I'm excited to see if I understand what's happening on the ride next time we go!

Bahaha at your comment about Kristen's lack of TR updating. KRISTEN I KNOW YOU ARE READING THIS, GET TO IT WOMAN!

aww loved the update! So exciting you got to be the rebel spy!

Have an amazing Christmas at WDW, I am not jealous in the slightest!!!

My husband is a huge Star Wars geek (I dragged him down to Disney last May with the promise of SWW!)

Anyway, we have that cookbook

aw, I have loved following on all of your adventures through the world and will definitely be signed on to read the next one! Have a fantastic time at Disney. So jealous! but on the bright side, I think we are in the planning stages of our next trip! :yay:

HAVE FUN ON YOUR TRIP!!!!! Christmas in Disney is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!!! Be sure to check out the Castle lighting ceremony, Osbourne lights and special christmas ending of illuminations... THEY ARE ALL AMAZING!!!!!! I can't wait to hear about all of your surprises you mentioned. Lucky that you get to leave the cold weather as well, although where i live the winter hasn't been as bad as normal for this time of year. My brother and his wife are actually going to Disney this week 2 for their honeymoon so my mom and i have been super excited gathering all of their info together since we helped them with the planning aspect.

As far as your update goes the star tours ride looks like so much fun! I'm not a big star wars fan but i definitely think i am going to want to ride that ride. Thanks for the general summary of what the ride story is as well! I haven't heard much about what it was like now that they rennovated other than what you mentioned. funny that you ended up being chosen as the rebel spy. When i watched your video of that part i was confused when you guys were talking about the rebel spy but now that has been cleared up. Like the t-shirt you guys found as well!

Have fun in Disney! I've always wanted to do a big family Christmas Disney trip, and be there on Christmas! Maybe someday when I have kids! I just got back from a quick trip last week and the parks are so magical at this time of year! I really want to go back NOW!

LOL I was the rebel spy in October too! I think that's so cute that they do that, it's so weird looking up and seeing your face up there! I didn't see those shirts, though, I'm sure those are going to be very popular! :thumbsup2

Mmmm, Writer's Stop, I'd love a carrot cake cookie right now...or a cupcake from Starring Roles. Ugh. Why can't I live at Disney? :confused3

That is probably the best mirror ever. I'd love to have that in my house! :woohoo:
